The student and I worked on a few different problems from her class that she was having trouble solving. At this point, with the AP exam coming up, all we're doing is working on/going through specific problems step by step to further her understanding of all kinds of problems. I believe with a little bit of confidence boosting, she will be very prepared for the AP exam.

He did great. I noticed he has trouble with word problems. I helped him learn strategies for attacking word problems and turning them into algebraic expressions.

Tutoring review by Aria in Bernalillo County, NM
We started out with multiplication flash cards and a subtraction sheet. She did well on the flash cards and scored 98/100 on the subtraction sheet (stayed within the 4 minute time limit and got all problems correct that she completed; skipped two by accident). We reviewed the problems that she did for homework and did a few review problems from an additional copy of the packet. By next Tuesday, the final session before her final exam, she is to complete all of the review sheets and the remainder of the packet.

Today was our first session. We actually worked on chemistry and algebra 2. In algebra 2 we reviewed absolute value and inequalities. The student understood the concept well. In chemistry, we discussed moles conversions, conversion of mass to moles, and conversion of moles to atoms, and vice versa. We reviewed one and two dimensional equations. She had a test today in algebra. We spent most of our time working on chemistry. She understood the concepts well. I'm confident in her ability to be successful in conversions.

Today, the student and I began reviewing in earnest for his final exam this Thursday, going over several review worksheets he sent. His overall confidence in creating free-body diagrams has grown tremendously. The only issues he seems to have with them is finding vector components using the given angles and identifying when forces are balanced or unbalanced. We went over both of these things, and he plans to work on that as part of his exam prep. Tomorrow, we intend to review kinematics and using kinematic equations to solve for velocity, position, etc.

Today the student and I reviewed integration with U-substitution. We covered methods of identifying appropriate U substitutes, changing boundaries for U substitutes, and manipulating du and dx equations. She has good antidifferentiation skills which will aid her in U-substitution problems. Reviewing some trig identities will be helpful in case those trig functions pop up! Overall, it was a productive session.
