"We reviewed her homework. First we completed assignment of factorization of trinomials. Then we completed most of assignment on factoring the difference of two squares. She did good work on most of the problems. I had her check many of the problems. Progress is being made. I asked her dad to help her."

"The student didn't have any homework as they'd had a test that day in class, so she requested we look ahead to the next chapter. The first section was on direct versus inverse variations. As direct variations are essentially linear functions, she had no problem grasping that part of the section. Inverse variations were a bit different, but were still expressed in a familiar formula (xy=k), so she was able to grasp it quite quickly as well. Most of the problem involved picking coordinates and plugging them into the inverse variation formula, so she had no trouble there. I did take a moment to explain how the use of the variable k is usually how a constant is expressed in applied math (e.g. Kinetics in chemistry). We did problems that required her to use sets of coordinates to determine whether the variation was direct or inverse, which she did well in by simply plugging the coordinates into the respective formulas to determine which gave a constant k value. Otherwise, we spent the session working on problems that required her to graph inverse variations to get used to the general scheme of the functions. Overall, she had almost no trouble and seemed very confident with the material despite it being fairly new. "

"Today we did a little bit of math. We did polynomial operations. The student then worked on a world history assignment. She learned about how to do Chicago style citation. She was full of energy during the session. "

"We looked over the student's PSAT results, and then moved onto her algebra 2 work. We reviewed long division with polynomials (which she seemed to have a good grasp of) as well as synthetic division. We reviewed her most recent test, along with her factoring packet, and I showed her some techniques to approach problems. We finished by going over her chemistry quiz and working on some strategies for nomenclature. "

"We covered complementary and supplementary angles. In the online practice we also practiced identifying adjacent angles and vertical angles. The student has progressed so much in math and has gotten a lot faster with his multiplication and mental addition and subtraction."

"We began the session by reviewing the probability extra practice I had left with the student. We discussed the problems he got incorrect, and I asked him to complete the worksheet for our next meeting. Then we reviewed geometry: area, volume, and equations of circles. Finally we ended with composition of functions. I left him with extra practice and an answer key."

"For our third review of conics, we finished up the three worksheets that we had begun last time. The student had already gotten the answer key to the ones we did together, and she got all of those right. The problems we did for this session were similar to the ones from last time, but there were a few new types of questions she had not seen before that required some algebraic manipulation of the distance formula in order to figure out the equation of a circle. These questions required her to really know how to apply everything she knew about conic sections in order to solve a problem. With a little help from me, she was able to work her way through the problems and by the end of our session she could solve them by herself. "

"Today the student had five sets of online work to do about electric fields and interactions. We talked about the general concepts and how to perform some of the calculations, and he was soon able to get most problems correct on the first try!
