AP French Tutor • +8 Subjects
I have always been a very enthusiastic and dedicated person. Growing up as a competitive swimmer, I invested countless hours of practice and competition to improve my skills in the sport that I loved. As I became older and began my studies at Syracuse University, I discovered that I had an affinity for French history, culture and language. After interning at a French kindergarten in Strasbourg, France during the summer of my junior year, I knew that I wanted to dedicate my professional years to teaching others French. After graduating from Syracuse, I spent the first year of my French graduate program in Tours, France. This experience was invaluable and gave me a greater understanding of the French people and the intricacies of the language. I, then, spent the second year of my graduate studies teaching French 1 and 2 to undergraduate students. I enjoyed working with adult learners and seeing them overcome the initial intimidation of being immersed in a French speaking environment. After graduate school, I taught all levels of French to middle school and high school students. Through the years, I have learned a great deal about language learners and how each student's needs are unique. I want learning French to be fun and not stressful. I know that it is not an easy task to master a new language (been there, done that ;))! I have a great deal of patience for this exciting process. I encourage my students to be confident in their present level of French (be it beginning or advanced), never forgetting that it is okay to make mistakes along the way. It is my privilege to team up with my students to help them accomplish their specific goals in language learning.

so this quote "There is no higher honor than to be given the responsibility to care for another human being."the reason i love this quote is because of my many amazing instructors over the years and when i first became a instructor and what one of them told me hit me somewhere special and that was, "do you know why i became a teacher? its because as a medic i can save only one life at a time but as an instructor i can teach others to save thousands of lives and to me that is an amazing thought knowing that everything i am teaching you could potentially save a life is one of the most satisfying things i could ever imagine that is why i love doing what i do

I am a junior Computer Science major in the College of Engineering at Cornell University. I have experience tutoring in the National Honor Society in high school, as well as on numerous occasions with acquaintances of mine who were struggling and needed a hand. I tutor high school computer science especially in java and python, as well as algebra (1 & 2) and calculus 1. I love tutoring the math subjects especially, because I feel very comfortable with the subjects and enjoy abstracting them in different ways to help any individual. I believe that success in education is key to building a great life for oneself, and that any person can succeed with the proper work ethic and support network. Even more, I love to see when people I have helped are successful, regardless of area of life. In my spare time, I love to follow college football and basketball and talk about games.

I'm a former physics and mathematics student from the University of Rhode Island. There, I discovered the teachings of renowned physicist Richard Feynman which, compressed, might read: "if you really understand something, then you can explain it to your grandmother."I spend a lot of my free time reading and writing, and am currently working my way through Dubliners, a series of stories by James Joyce. I also play guitar and know upwards of several hundred songs.

The seeds sown today are harvested the next season. Attempting to satisfy instant gratification only results in under ripe and immature fruit. This is my life motto and has served me well. I have taught many different age groups during my past years in high school. I used to be a teacher assistant at Sunday School, I tutored middle school students in English and Math, and I assisted other high school students study for standardized tests at my local test prep school. During my many experiences teaching and tutoring children and students younger than me, I have found that many of them still try to achieve instant gratification through their studies, although that is simply not possible. I aim to avoid teaching "plug-n-chug" methods to solve problems, but help my students understand the underlying concepts so that they can become more versatile and proficient in that subject. This is much more time-consuming and difficult on both the tutor and the student, but it is likewise much more rewarding and lasting.

I am a graduate of Hofstra University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood/ Childhood Education and Psychology as well as a Master of Science in Education in Literacy Studies. I am a certified Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher and Reading Teacher in New York State (ages birth to sixth grade). Previously, I worked as a co-teacher at a private preschool in Manhattan. Currently, I am a PreKindergarten teacher on Long Island where I have my very own classroom. If one were to step into my classroom, you would see lots of positivity. I believe the key to a successful education is the connection between teachers and students. There must be a sense of rapport established in order for one to truly involve themselves in their learning journey. Although I am certified in all elementary subjects, I am most passionate about reading and writing. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, traveling, and reading on the beach.
