As a lifelong learner and a former student of math, reading, and standardized test programs, I have learned how valuable an encouraging and motivating tutor can be.I started working at Kumon Math and Reading in 2012, and found a love for helping others learn. Overcoming their obstacles became a personal victory for me, and I enjoyed meeting with clients one or two days a week and watching them grow in their confidence in math and reading problems. I began nannying in 2014, and doing homework or practicing instruments is still my favorite time of the day.I believe the environment surrounding learning is the key to success. Growing up, my dad was the master of math problems, known for phrases such as "number eight, come on down! You're the next contestant on long division" (in the voice of Bob Barker). I am currently a student at Occidental College, earning my B.A. in American Studies. I have tutored and taught students for the past five years in a variety of subjects in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Melbourne, Australia. I currently tutor in SAT writing and verbal preparation, essay writing skills, English, and Literature. My favorite subjects to tutor are definitely those that involve writing, because they provide fantastic opportunities for students to express their creativity. I tutored kids as a part-time job after I finished college. Then I went on to teach middle and high school classes as a Teach for America teacher for a couple of months.After completing two Master degrees in business and bioscience, I worked as a product manager in the medical device industry for the past 10+ years.My kids are now four and six, and I decided to take some time to be a stay-at-home mom to be more involved in their lives. Taking on tutoring jobs during my free time gives me the opportunity to interact and help others, which I really enjoy.

As a trained poet and writer, I come equipped with creativity and attention to detail. I am dedicated to finding the best learning path for each of my students, and I find joy in collaborating with learners on how they best learn. I have tutored plenty of middle school, high school, and mostly college-level courses in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and english literature. Teaching is a passion of mine, and my personal philosophy is to encourage students to build an enthusiasm for learning and to use that energy to excel in any course or project they are faced with.

I am UC Irvine graduate with a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences. I am currently working towards earning my M.D. at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
