I an a graduate of San Diego State University and the University of California Irvine. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Business/Hospitality Management along with a Minor in Sociology from SDSU in 2007. I completed my Master's degree in Public Policy from the University of California Irvine in June of 2013. Prior to returning to graduate school in 2011 I worked in several different capacities, first as a restaurant manager, later in sales for a non-profit organization and most recently for three years in employee benefits specializing in health insurance. My exposure to healthcare reform legislation and long-time interest in the complex interactions between government regulation and private business markets led to my decision to pursue a graduate degree in public policy. I have a wealth of experience working in groups professionally as well as in my academic career, which has taught me to be an excellent collaborator and I am able to quickly develop friendly, productive relationships. While I am experienced in a broad range of subjects, my specialties are economics, algebra, geometry, statistics and related quantitative subjects, as well as academic essay and professional business writing, government and history. I am also well versed in a range of science subjects, particularly physical and earth sciences. In my family education is extremely important. Both of my older siblings are teachers, my sister teaches high school English, my brother teaches middle school Algebra and Geometry. Like them, I genuinely enjoy helping students find new ways to understand and relate to material which they have previously found challenging. In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, attending concerts, snowboarding, scuba diving and traveling.
I am passionate about helping students achieve academic growth, learn to think critically, build confidence, and develop skills that extend beyond the classroom. There are a lot of things that make up my personality, but the most important thing that is important about me is that I enjoy working with students. I am a graduate from San Diego State University with a Bachelors in Mathematics. As a Mathematics for Single Subject Teaching major, I am able to utilize several different methods to help you learn the material. I'm not a boring tutor and I absolutely hate going ONLY by the book. I'll use real world examples and show you unique ways to remember any steps for any problems you are facing. You will learn the process of thinking, not just solving.Instead of showing you how to do one single problem at a time, I will show you different ways to look at a problem and figure out the best approach to solve it.I am also bilingual since Spanish is my first language. I can read, speak, and write in Spanish very well and that is another tool I have at my disposal if necessary for explaining any types of concepts.
How do you know when a cookie isn't feeling well? It's CRUMMY!I know, I know... I'm corny! But that's also what is great about me-- I like to have fun and learn all at the same time. We can have fun together and reach your goals. No goal is too big or too small. Anything you need to work on I will be all-in and fully committed to your success.
I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology from Northern Arizona University and my master's degree in psychology with an emphasis in neuroscience from San Diego State University. I have been a teaching assistant for undergraduates and have clinical experience working with children and teenagers, both typically developing and with autism spectrum disorder. The subjects I tutor are varied, but I focus on statistics and mathematics through pre-calculus along with test preparation and essay writing. I am also available to tutor psychology and German (beginner- and intermediate-level). Although I enjoy helping students improve in all subjects, I find that tutoring for standardized tests offers particularly rewarding experiences given the potential impact on students' future academic endeavors. My teaching style involves helping students find their ideal learning style based on their individual strengths and unique way of perceiving information. I try to focus on teaching "how" to think constructively rather than "what" to think. In my free time, I enjoy exercising in some form outdoors, exploring good coffee shops and local restaurants, planning my next vacation, and spending time with family and friends.
I love to work with students of all ages! I think that each person learns differently and needs to approach material in different ways. I also believe in organization when it comes to studying and homework. Only with a plan can you hope to be successful! I bring a lot of fun to the table and hope my students bring positive attitudes and an appetite for learning!
I am currently a medical student at the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine with a bachelor's degree in Biology. I truly enjoy all aspects of science from the theory behind the present world to the applied sciences, such as Medicine. As such, I hope to spread the excitement of science to any student I work with. The subject is conceptual and the conclusions often are not obvious and require focus and attention to reveal themselves. When a student is learning and making connections, I have the utmost patience and demonstrate multiple ways to arrive at the same conclusion. I have done extensive tutoring of grades K-12 and also tutored Biology and Chemistry to many of my peers in college. My goal with everyone I tutor is the same, to build an understanding and appreciation of science.

I studied graphic design at San Diego State University and now spend my days working on real client projectseverything from branding and marketing materials to digital layouts. What I enjoy most is making design feel less overwhelming. Concepts like typography, layout, and visual hierarchy can feel complicated at first, but I focus on breaking them down into simple, practical steps that actually make sense. My approach to tutoring is hands-on and flexible. I like to work alongside students, guiding them through real projects so they're not just learning theorythey're building work they can actually use. Whether someone is brand new to design or looking to refine their skills, my goal is to help them feel more confident and capable with every session.
