I'm Jeremy and I have been making art my whole life. I've studied art through high school and into college. I took first place in the congressional art competition for the state of Arizona when I was in high school which awarded me with a scholarship to study at a top art university and my art was exhibited in the capital building in Washington D.C.. I am very passionate about teaching drawing and illustration. The styles that I am the most experienced with are cartoon, anime, and still life. As an artist, it's important to keep learning everyday. The development of your skills comes with time and experience. I will be a guide to assist you and to help you see things you may not have noticed before. I have a passion for sharing my knowledge and helping others to create and forge their own paths in art. I'm excited to get to know you and to learn together!

I am 22 years old. I graduated from Sacramento State in the fall of 2015 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. While at Sacramento State, I took multiple calculus courses including differential equations. Also I coached high school volleyball for 3 years at my former high school in Elk Grove. I decided to start tutoring after graduating college so I could share my knowledge with many other students to help them succeed in school. Tutoring for me is comparable to engineering. I love both because I love to solve problems. I hope to teach students to be unafraid of solving problems as well. I tutor Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry and Calculus. My favorite subject to tutor is Algebra 1. I like Algebra 1 because that is the beginning of solving equations and I believe that a solid understanding of Algebra 1 is very important for students. My tutoring style is patient and enthusiastic. I enjoy math and I want my students to enjoy it too! My teaching philosophy is you cannot build without tools. In math you need to add every tool to your toolbox that you can because math is always a cumulative subject. Outside of academia I enjoy being around friends and family. I also enjoy most outdoor activities such as running, yoga, hiking, biking, and rowing.

As a graduate of the UC Davis Linguistics department, I can empathize with the harsh demands of academia. I have obtained the After School Program Site Supervisor Permit from California Department of Education. Prior to the career, I had taught a year of Chinese in reading, writing, and speaking in a Sat Chinese School in Irvine. I also tutored pre-schoolers in a non-traditional Chinese program.I graduated from UCI with BA degree in Psychology and Social Behavior and minored in Education. I also obtained the after school program certificate from the UCI Education Department. Recently, I completed the Diversity Development Program Training from Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity; I attended two-day intensive Anti-bias Education workshop with Museum of Tolerance in order to enhance my professional skills and knowledge.

While at Duke University I was a student athlete, participated in the leadership of several clubs and service groups; as well as, working as a Math and Reading tutor. After graduation I spent a year pursing a business venture allotted to me through the Elevator Pitch Competition, my senior year of college, which I won in my category - Non-Profits. After that year, I joined the Teach for America Fellowship, where I fell in love with teaching. The Teach for America Fellowship is 2 years; however, after my first year due to the recognition and growth in my classroom I was invited to start a school. I spent 2 years at that school prior to getting married and moving to California, a few months ago, with my amazing, aerospace loving, husband.Moving out here I knew I didn't want to go back into the classroom, but I wanted to find ways to support teachers and students, as they work toward reaching their goals. I decided to jump back into tutoring. Tutoring allows me to work with students whose needs aren't being met fully in the classroom and the supplement the handwork that each teacher puts into the education plans of their students. I have been tutoring all types of students from Special Needs to Gifted for 9 years. I have a ton of strategies for a variety of subjects and have seen my students grow leaps and bounds in confidence, skill, and ability.I love the challenge of uncovering a child's weaknesses, creating the opportunity for them to discover what they are capable of, and the excitement of seeing their faces light up once they realize, they can do it. Nothing brings me more joy then seeing children walk in the fullness of their potential.
