I am a scientist obtaining my PhD in chemical biology after having graduated from Scripps college with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. I love biology and biochemistry and am excited to share my knowledge with students. While biology, biochemistry, and chemistry can be daunting fields, I think approaching them with curiosity and enthusiasm is the key to success. In my spare time, I enjoy playing softball, gardening, and hiking.

I grew up in a family that valued education, with a mother who is now a retired teacher. I have worked with all age groups in a variety of educational settings since I was a teen. I just love interacting with kids and teens and helping them learn. I have had the pleasure of seeing so many students either get excited over learning something new and having their world open up that much more or having a student finally have the a-ha moment when a difficult topic suddenly makes sense. Hi! I'm Bella, an avid reader and writer currently living and working in NYC. Last spring, I graduated from Scripps College, where I dual-majored in Writing & Rhetoric and Environmental Analysis, and minored in French. Now, I work for an independent publishing house in the East Village, where I help edit manuscripts and work on publicity campaigns for recently published titles. I'm originally from a small town in Washington, and I love going home to visit my dog, chickens, and 2 horses. For now, though, I'm enjoying all that the city has to offer! I am a science communicator with a background in English, biology, and environmental education. I have worked previously on a citizen science initiative, The American Kestrel Partnership, and recently graduated from the University of Oregon with M.S. degrees in Environmental Studies and Multimedia Journalism. In my free time, I play competitive roller derby for Portland's Wheels of Justice.

I've been reading and writing for as long as I can remember, and I love sharing my knowledge and passion with other students. In 2017, I graduated from Scripps College in Southern California with a BA in English and have tutored both middle school and high school creative and academic writing. I've also provided writing consulting for college students and adults, and my tutoring and love of English has taken me from the west coast to the French Alps. I currently work as a freelance copyeditor, and am always practicing and brushing up on my literary knowledge.I love helping students get beyond the drudgery of writing assignments, and learn how to write essays that THEY are excited about. My style is very professional and focused yet relatable and personal. I try my best to help students approach writing beyond the immediacy of the assignment to a larger appreciation for the art of effective communication, regardless of their interests. During my K-12 education I received tutoring in various areas including ESL, music and math. In high school I began tutoring because tutoring had been a positive experience in my life. In college I majored in Biology and minored in creative writing. During my four years at Scripps I had the opportunity to gain great conceptual understanding in both the sciences and humanities.I have always had a passion for learning. My curiosity for knowledge has allowed me to study in the humanities, the sciences, and in music. Over the past six years I have had various opportunities to tutor students in these subject areas. My main goal for these students, as well as future students, is to gain conceptual understanding of the material.

I am a person of honesty and high integrity, very positive, and a gifted teacher. I completed my undergraduate degree at Scripps College in Claremont CA, where I obtained my BA in Biology. Completing Scripps, awarded me opportunity to write manuals for multiple high-end Fortune 500 Companies, like the Coca-Cola Company, Oracle, Ernst & Young and Motorola. Recently, I completed a Masters degree from Fuller Seminary in Theology and Ministry. I am a recent graduate from Scripps College where I received my BA in Psychology and minored in Portuguese as well as Spanish, Latin American, and Caribbean literatures and cultures. During my time at Scripps, I worked as a tutor and mentor with high school students for a nonprofit organization called Upward Bound. I also served as a private language peer tutor for Spanish and Portuguese. After graduation, I earned my TEFL certificate. I am currently working as a teaching assistant at a public school in Madrid where I teach English to high school students and adult learners. In addition, I teach private language classes for children. In 2023, I will continue teaching English in Brasil as a Fulbright scholar. While I have tutored a broad range of subjects, language learning is my passion. Being trilingual has opened the doors for many travel and work opportunities for me, which is why I love helping my students learn new languages.
