As an education enthusiast, I am dedicated to the process of learning through interactive efforts. I believe in a holistic approach that incorporates the various learning styles of auditory, visual, kinesthetic and those (like myself) that must physically feel the pen hit the paper. I am fun, friendly, and passionate about helping students succeed and gain confidence in subjects they may have felt uneasy about previously.

I am an educator dedicated to supporting students with various needs, at various ages. Upon graduating from University of Maryland, College Park, I pursued a teaching program, allowing me to manage a self contained class of 3rd graders. I've also had the pleasure of serving early elementary, high school, college, and adult learners. Through earning my Masters in Education, my expertise grew with utilizing Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies to help move learners closer to and above grade level in their Math, English Language Arts, and Social studies assignments and assessments. My entire career thus far has focused on supporting students with all learning styles to reach their goals both inside and outside of the classroom.
I am a multi-level, multi-subject educator offering 8+ years experience in instruction; consistent performance record and excellent reviews; and innovative instructional methods to maximize student understanding and performance across various learning styles, abilities, and interests. It is my pleasure to educate through Varsity Tutors.
I am a former Teach For America corps member who spent several years teaching English and writing in New York City and Atlanta classrooms, working with students from middle school through high school in both classroom and one on one settings. I hold a Master of Fine Arts from Loyola Marymount University and an undergraduate degree in Strategic Communications and Journalism from Ohio State University, which gave me a deep foundation in writing, composition, and communication at every level. My approach is always to meet students where they are. Whether a student is struggling with essay structure, working through a reading assignment, or trying to find their own voice as a writer, I focus on building real skills and genuine confidence rather than just getting through the assignment. I am also a working television writer with credits on Amazon and Peacock series, which means I bring a practical understanding of how strong writing actually works beyond the classroom.
I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and completed some graduate coursework at Loyola Marymount University in order to receive my teaching credential in Biological Sciences. I have experience both as a tutor, working with high school students in AP Chemistry, and a classroom teacher, working with middle school students in Life & Physical Sciences. I have a broad range of subjects that I am comfortable tutoring in, ranging from English and essay editing to Algebra and middle school math. But I am most passionate (and get most geeked out about) teaching science, especially topics in Biology and Life Science, because I love learning about how our living world works! My teaching philosophy revolves around students harnessing their strengths to become independent learners, and my job is to facilitate making those connections. Outside of education, I love spending time outdoors and doing yoga (a combination of both would be ideal!).
I am a graduate of Loyola Marymount University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology and played four years of Division 1 soccer. I will be attending medical school in Fall 2019 at Creighton University. With 7 years of tutoring under my belt, 4 of which included working as a peer tutor for LMU Athletics, I have developed a strong passion for assisting others inside and out of the classroom to reach successful academic goals. I believe having a strong foundation in education is important for future success in our careers and relationships. As a STEM major, I have focused on tutoring in math and sciences as I enjoy working through problems with my students in an engaging manner and finding which methods work for them. Along with tutoring, I am a licensed EMT and perform clinical oncology research for UCLA. In my spare time, I enjoy running, working out, reading, and playing soccer.
