I am passionate about teaching; my mother said my brother was able to skip kindergarten because I taught him everything I was learning at school! I am a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where I earned a bachelor's degree in English; I also am a 15-year homeschooling "veteran." Most recently, I have worked in a private school teaching grammar, pre-algebra, and physical science. My hobbies include piano, hiking, and singing.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering. At university, I taught courses in Robotics and Computing for several semesters, and was consistently named to the list of Teachers Ranked as Excellent based on student evaluations. My academic passion lies in robotics, in which my work and teaching experience allows me to tutor a wide variety of subjects, including Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Programming, and the underlying Math and Physics required in this field. My teaching philosophy focuses on teaching concepts and problem solving skills. I believe it is important to develop a deep understanding of the material and how to apply it, rather than learning simply to pass a test. I work best with students who are motivated to learn and willing to put in the effort necessary to do so.

In my time in school, I've noticed that subjects that can be captivating and interesting are oftentimes disliked by students because they have had a bad experience with a teacher in that subject. Since high school I have tutored peers and worked at local elementary, middle, and high schools to help students of diverse backgrounds learn Spanish and math. At 27, I am relatively young and can still relate to students who may need assistance in achieving their academic goals.I can tutor SAT/ACT math, GRE math, in addition to high school/college science and math subjects like: algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and Physics.I started tutoring students one-on-one 8 years ago and also been a teaching assistant in over 10 classes during my PhD.

As an undergraduate, I majored in Honors Biomedical Sciences, and maintained a 3.8 GPA. The classes I went through ranged from statistics and calculus to General Chemistry and Microbiology. I've tutored students before through Kumon, and love helping others understand the concepts needed to succeed in classes.
