I currently attend the University of California Irvine. I am pursuing a degree in Biology and will graduate in 2014. Ever since middle school, I have been infatuated with the sciences. I've always had a fascination with trying to understand the world around me. This mentality has fueled my intense interest in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I prefer to approach the sciences with an introspective lens as a tool to figure out a piece of a grand puzzle, rather than as an isolated unit. In addition to tutoring science classes, I have also helped many students with standardized testing yielding great results. In my free time I enjoy playing music, biking, and reading.

I attended California State University Fullerton (CSUF) where I earned both of my Bachelors of Arts degrees in Psychology and in Women and Gender Studies. I graduated with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude. I continued my education at CSUF, where I am working toward my Master of Arts in Psychology.My teaching experience includes multiple teaching/graduate assistant positions, tutoring, and teaching at a local private school. As a teaching assistant and graduate assistant at CSUF, I created assignments, conducted lectures in class, and held teaching workshops with college students. I also held a position tutoring Statistics for undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Sociology. Last year, I taught middle and high school math and science at a local private high school.I am a math and social science tutor. I tutor in the following subjects: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I/II/College, Geometry, Arithmetic, Statistics (including AP and college level), Psychology, and Sociology. I believe I am a particularly effective Statistics instructor, as I excelled in advanced Statistics courses in the Department of Psychology, including Advanced and Multivariate Statistics. I also absolutely love teaching statistics because it offers us a way to turn real life phenomena into numbers that we can understand around the world. I also love teaching my subject area, Psychology, and ultimately would love to make a career of it.As a tutor, I apply psychological and educational concepts about learning. I always use positive reinforcement, consider different learning styles (i.e. visual, audio, etc.), and aim to keep students engaged by using real life examples that they can connect to. Learning requires engagement and I try to make math concepts more reachable for all students.Outside of school and teaching, I enjoy cooking, reading, catching up on television series, and enjoying the outdoors. Originally from San Diego, I am a loyal Chargers fan and love being close enough to my friends and family there.

I am a PhD candidate in Art History working hard to finish my dissertation! I'm originally from the PNW, but I've spent the last 8 years living in New York. Experiencing different worldviews is very important to me. I've lived abroad in France and love to travel and explore new spaces and ideas. I'm a creative visual thinker and respect that everyone is different in their learning processes.

I am a graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA where I received two Bachelors of Arts degrees in 2011. One of my degrees was in International Relations and Global Studies with a minor in Anthropology, and my second degree was in Spanish Language and Literature. Once I graduated, I moved back to Southern California in order to pursue work in the legal field with the ultimate goal of attending law school. I worked for a year between two separate law firms in the greater Los Angeles area as a Law Clerk and tutored high school students in LA's South Bay. I specialized in a wide range of subjects to fit my clients' needs, however, I am most passionate about teaching skills for Writing, Reading, Grammar, and Spanish. In my opinion, languages, both those that we are native to and new ones we wish to acquire, are fascinating but also take a lot of work to stay fresh. I understand the struggles many students face while grappling with reading and writing in English, and I especially understand the difficulties of mastering Spanish, as it is not my native tongue. I have found that this understanding helps me to be a more creative and thus effective tutor and leads to positive results with my clients. Last year, I moved to Orange County to begin my first year as a law student at UC Irvine School of Law. I am now in my second year at the law school and feel, if anything, I am even better suited to tutor new clients. Apart from school and tutoring, I enjoy being outdoors with my new puppy, training for and participating in triathlons, travel, photography, and attending country concerts.

I have been a Early Childhood Education and After school program teacher for six years with University of California, Irvine. I have obtained the After School Program Site Supervisor Permit from California Department of Education. Prior to the career, I had taught a year of Chinese in reading, writing, and speaking in a Sat Chinese School in Irvine. I also tutored pre-schoolers in a non-traditional Chinese program.I graduated from UCI with BA degree in Psychology and Social Behavior and minored in Education. I also obtained the after school program certificate from the UCI Education Department. Recently, I completed the Diversity Development Program Training from Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity; I attended two-day intensive Anti-bias Education workshop with Museum of Tolerance in order to enhance my professional skills and knowledge.

I graduated from Columbia University with a Master's in International Affairs, specializing in international economy and East Asia. I used to tutor as an online oral English teacher when I was in college, helping students across China in all age groups overcoming the initial difficulties of mastering a foreign language. I enjoyed the interaction with people from different backgrounds. It was also a very fulfilling moment to see how my knowledge and skills have helped to empower others. I believe charting out the right study plan and a keen sense of spotting students' weaknesses are essential for a tutor. Being personable, responsible, and patient are my tutoring principles. I have traveled extensively in the past in both Asia and Europe, and am excited to explore more far-flung places in the world. I would love not only to bring practical skills to my students, but also to introduce myself as a friend.
