I am a former English Teacher and I really enjoyed my time working with students. Although my career path has turned towards the Law, I still miss sharing my love of English literature and writing with others.As a former educator, I am deeply familiar with the many issues that students, Teachers, and schools face. When I student-taught at Edison High School, I learned the importance of not only appreciating each student's learning style, but the less salient aspects of his or her life which affected learning: their extracurricular activities, workload in other classes, and emotional, social, or psychological struggles. I held firm to my standards, as to what kind of commitment I expected from my students, and opened myself up as a resource to help them to fulfill those standards.My specialty has always been Reading, Writing, and Literature. Communication and analysis are the very core of what English classes are meant to teach. By using this as the framework for my lessons, I push my students towards mastery of the subject, rather than rote memorization of grammatical rules and literary devices.

I am a graduate from the California State University of Long Beach with a bachelors in Criminal Justice. For most of my life, I have attended academies for tutoring in order to help me prosper academically throughout my school years. Over the years, I took on multiple tutoring jobs myself in order to pass on the knowledge that I have been previously taught from my mentors onto others. Personally, I enjoy teaching mathematics ranging from basic elementary math up to Algebra 1. It is a subject that I found to be most exciting and interesting during my time in school. I have always found that teaching students has always been a passion of mine. It gives me great pleasure to see the understanding light up in their eyes the moment they understand the process to how they found the solution to a problem. In my spare time, I love being active by hiking around local mountains and playing basketball and talking sports. I believe that the students are the future generation. I attended Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on Acting and Medieval Literature. I grew up in a family of teachers, and I spent my years in high school and in college working as a peer tutor. While at university, I also served as a part-time English teacher at two elementary schools in inner city Pittsburgh. Since college, I have lived and worked as a tutor in New York, Los Angeles, and Barcelona. While I tutor a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, History, Math, and the SAT. I am fascinated by the SAT. I love teaching struggling test takers how to view the SAT as an approachable, accessible set of riddles and games instead of as an intellectual brick wall. I firmly believe that the majority of people can find great joy in academics once they discover the individual approach that works for them. I see it as my job to help them find that path. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, running, travel, and reading. I have a strong background in general language arts and have tutored students of all ages in the past. I enjoy tutoring because I like helping students become comfortable in even the most strenuous academic settings.
