I am a Ph.D. candidate in Theological Studies and a Fellow in Theology & Practice at Vanderbilt University, with a minor in Ethics & Society and a certificate in Women's & Gender Studies. I have a M.Div. and a certificate in Gender, Theology, and Ministry, and an A.M. in Comparative Literature and African-American Studies from Duke University. I recently moved to New York to write my dissertation, and am already wondering why I didn't move here sooner!I have tutored a variety of subjects and specialize in test preparation. Most recently, I took the GRE to get into my doctoral programs. I love tutoring as it give me an opportunity to be a teacher, coach, and cheerleader all at the same time. I love the one-on-one interaction and the opportunity to help students with both content and strategy. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy exploring the city and watching TV. I am a Jeopardy fan! (It is my life goal to get on Jeopardy before Alex Trebek retires!) I am also an avid runner.

I am a life-long learner and an encouraging, supportive and resourceful teacher who really takes joy in investing in students' progress and learning.I have had over 9 years of direct teaching experience, from university classrooms to kitchen table tutoring to online language teaching. I most enjoy working with students who know what they don't understand and are willing to ask and answer questions, even daunting ones!
Hi! My name is Kat and I have been in the field of education for over 20 years. I have earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development, and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education. In each of these areas I graduated with honors. In addition to teaching in general education classes, I have taught Fine Arts, Computer Technology, and Music. I am a proponent of Howard Gardener's theory of multiple intelligences and I present my lessons in many different presentation styles.I am currently teaching Kindergarten and will be moving back to a fifth grade classroom next fall at Ruth Fyfe Elementary in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I love tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to help others enjoy the experience of learning as much as I do. Whether we are editing an essay or reviewing for an exam, I bring a natural passion and energy to my tutoring sessions that inspires my students to discover their own paths towards understanding. By creating a safe environment in which students are encouraged to develop their own critical faculties and to ask the question of "why?", I hope to equip all my clients with a thorough understanding that allows them to achieve mastery over their desired subject matter. After receiving my Bachelor's in English Writing from Azusa Pacific University and my Master's in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, the bulk of my tutoring experience comes from my work as a Consultant for Fuller's Writing Center. Working as a Consultant for Fuller's Writing Center has given me extensive experience in providing writing and editing instruction to graduate students, which I have also put to use as I have continued to work with my own personal high school and college-level clients. While I enjoy providing instruction for a variety of subjects ranging from history to psychology, I am especially interested in the process of helping others as they learn how to express their views and opinions through the written word. I believe writing is a useful skill in just about any walk of life, and I consider it my privilege and purpose to help others discover their written voice. When I am not working with my wonderful clients, you might find me reading a dusty old novel, watching some sports, playing too many video games, or out walking with my dog, Hans.
I have always had a passion for helping students learn. I know it can sometimes be challenging to keep up in class and my goal is to always keep the students motivated to keep learning. I was fortunate to have amazing help and now I want to pass some of that help and knowledge onto others.

Tutoring is my passion. I like to help young people understand subjects that they have trouble with and help them realize that it's possible to succeed in them. I have a lot of patience and I am always happy to answer questions. I realize each student is in a different place in their math path and each student learns differently so I do my best to treat each person like an individual. I have over 10 years of experience in teaching and tutoring as well as a California teaching credential.
I have been an elementary and middle school teacher for 26 years. During that time, I have worked with a diverse group of students. My goal has always been to meet each student where they are and to accelerate their learning. I am a National Board-Certified Educator with an emphasis in reading.
Hello! My name is Thomas, and I am an assistant principal at an Orlando elementary charter school. I love teaching; it gives me great satisfaction when I can help students achieve their academic goals. For over 7 years, I travelled from house to house tutoring middle and high school students in math, language arts, science, social studies, history, geography, biology, chemistry, ACT, etc. That was a lot of miles for my 2005 Kia to handle! The car has since retired, but I have not.How can I help you? I can definitely help you with almost any content you need to master, but more importantly, I can TEACH YOU TO IDENTIFY THE STRATEGIES YOU NEED TO DO WELL IN A CLASS OR SIMPLY GET THE EXAM, ESSAY OR ACT/SAT SCORE YOU WANT. Memorization will only get you so far. I help you strategically think about questions so that you answer them correctly even if you don't remember exactly what the facts are. Whatever the middle, high school or (in some cases) college subject you are finding difficult, this approach is going to help you. My goal is to make you not need a tutor as soon as possible.Just a little about me: I lived in Madrid, Spain for ten years, where I was the director of a language academy and oversaw English, French, German and Spanish classes. When I moved back to the USA, I became certified in Special Education. Since then, I have been taught or co-taught the subjects mentioned above or in my profile. As a tutor, I saw the need to adapt classes to the strengths of my students. This is what I will continue to do with my online students - you, I hope!

Since the age of 18, I have had the privilege of tutoring students all over the nation with diverse needs and abilities. I am passionate about learning and have dedicated years to refining my skills in English, writing, and psychology. I want to help make sure that students can meet their full potential on assignments by giving clear, constructive feedback and bolstering foundational knowledge for their future growth.
I am a recent graduate of Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, emphasis in Ecology. Eventually, I hope to attend graduate school for a Master of Science in an environmental field that I have yet to determine, although I am leaning toward stream ecology. At some point I hope to get a doctorate in that field as well, but I am still figuring it out. I have a lot of dreams, ranging from being a conservation biology professor in graduate school to opening a retreat center for kids who struggle with anxiety and depression.I have volunteered as a tutor for elementary schoolers, tutored high schoolers privately, and have been employed as a TA and instructor for college students in biology and chemistry. For me, the best part of tutoring is learning what motivates students to succeed and to pursue their respective passions within the academic setting. I think when you can make studies personal to you and your goals, they become easier and more fulfilling. This is why I love teaching science and math; it's not always intuitive to make them personal, and I enjoy finding new ways for people to connect with them. It's also why I love college essays, because I get to see where the student's heart is.In my spare time, I read and make bold strides toward learning how to cook. I love hiking and being outside in almost any capacity, I write poetry and nonfiction for fun (I know, weird), and I have been to 34 states. Alaska is next on my list.
