I am an undergraduate of the Johns Hopkins University, majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science. I have years of experience tutoring and teaching math and various sciences from an elementary to a college level. I primarily tutor college level courses such as physics and biochemistry, but also have extensive experience in social sciences, biology, and higher mathematics such as Calculus and Differential Equations. I believe that demonstrating the various real-world applications of a given concept is the best method to increase a student's understanding.

I am currently a Master's student at Cornell University. I graduated with my Bachelor's of Science from Cornell in 2016 and I plan to attend medical school in the fall of 2017. Hello! I am a third-year law student at Georgetown Law looking to provide academic and test-prep advice. I have applied to undergraduate schools and law school and have lots of experience going through the application process. I know it can be a stressful time, and I'd love to help however I can. This includes the SAT, ACT, and LSAT, all of which I have done well on (1550 / 35 / 174). I am experienced in tutoring math, science, English, and the environmental sciences, but my favorite subjects to tutor are beginner's Chinese, reading and writing skills, and essay writing and revision. Over the years, I've seen that every student has an individual, personalized learning style, and I strongly believe it is important for tutors to match their teaching styles to the student. I am a current student at Rice University studying Mathematics and Computer Science. I have lots of tutoring experience, having tutored kids at my high school and at-risk youth. I know how intimidating asking for help can be, which is why I make a point of being patient and respectful with all of my students. I think it's important for students to understand that getting tutoring can be a stress-free and beneficial decision. I have always loved math, and I am able to tutor in pre-algebra, algebra, AP Calculus AB and BC, multivariable calculus, and high school physics. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing the guitar and rock climbing.

I'm currently attending Rice University- pursuing a double major Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Economics. As you can probably tell I'm very passionate about math, and I'm even more passionate about teaching it! I prefer to teach math a little differently than some of you may used to. Many of students think of math as a plug and chug approach- simply being given formulas and plugging numbers in. While I will give you the formulas and critical things to remember if you insist on it, I prefer to teach mathematics as a form of problem solving. How math works is a beautiful thought process- understanding how a formula was conceived is much more rewarding than simply memorizing it. But in the end it's all up to you- the student. If you want a fast run-down of everything you need to know to ace the test- I'll happily help you. However, if you're willing to think outside of the box and learn some very neat stuff, I'll open the doors to mathematical problem solving for you!

I am Tegan, an undergraduate at Rice University majoring in Biosciences on the pre-med track. Throughout high school and college, I have realized that the key to a successful academic career is having educators that are truly invested in a student's education. Enthusiastic instructors created exciting and engaging lessons which led to more motivated students. With my experience tutoring middle school students and adult ESL learners, I aimed to be patient with student concerns and hold a positive attitude while teaching, embodying the supportive culture I thrived in. I am a PhD student at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I have received my Master's in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University and my Bachelor's in Biochemistry at Southern Methodist University. I've tutored middle school, high school, and college students in math (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Calculus I-II) and science (Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry). I have the most experience with and enjoy teaching Algebra I & II and Chemistry though. I grew up as a athlete myself (figure skater) and so am aware of the strenuous schedule student athletes have and work to be as flexible as I can with my own schedule so that I can accommodate these students.

I'm a sophomore at Rice University majoring in Biosciences and on the premed track. I've had experience tutoring students, ages ranging from kindergarten through high school. I've helped a lot of my peers with AP courses and classes in high school as a peer tutor. I also have experience helping students prepare for the ACT through Varsity Tutors. I've had students go from a 25 to 32 after 2 months of working with them. It's really rewarding to see students learn and expand their own capabilities.
