In my spare time I volunteer as a docent at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. I enjoy reading, and watching professional and college sports on TV. Since retiring I have participated in numerous 5K running/walking events for local, state, and national charities.

I've recently graduated with my Ph.D. in Physics from Florida State University. I have taught physics/math both one-on-one and as a teaching assistant to a large class, both in a lecture format and a lab. I am a published author of two journal articles and one pop science book (A Space Dictionary for Kids: The Everything Guide for Kids who Love Space). I grew up with science and try to share my excitement with anyone I come in contact with, student or not. When I have spare time, I read (mostly fantasy novels), play video games, and 3-D print. I have one cat, named Sunshine.

"In her classroom our speculations ranged the world. She breathed curiosity into us so that each day we came with new questions, new ideas, cupped and shielded in our hands like captured fireflies. When she left us, we were sad; but the light did not go out. She had written her indelible signature on our minds. I have had lots of teachers who taught me soon forgotten things; but only a few who created in me a new energy, a new direction. I suppose I am the unwritten manuscript of such a person. What deathless power lies in the hands of such a teacher." John SteinbeckI chose teaching as a profession for all of those reasons. I want to share my love of the social sciences with the students and perhaps inspire them to pursue careers in that wide discipline. I want to leave my job each day with the knowledge that I have done something good. But more than anything else, I want to motivate my students to always chase after knowledge.

I am a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Language Arts with a specialization in writing. I have also received my teaching certification for 7-12 grade ELAR. Since graduation, I have taught 9th-grade English at Canyon High School as well as sponsoring three different school organizations focusing on academics as well as diversity within the school. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and Writing. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun (through interactive lesson plans) prepping for the Critical Reading and Writing portions of the exams. I am a firm advocate for education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an individual to successfully get through the struggles of life. I have the highest respect and appreciation for all of my students, focusing on building trust and meaningful relationships. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, and hiking trails.

I hold a Bachelors Degree from the University of Delaware, and a Professional Certification in Java Programming from NYU. I have been working in the Financial industry for my whole career. I started out as a trade runner, then a trader on Merrill Lynch's desk, then decided to challenge myself with programming, and love it even more.As far as my teaching style, I aim to relate subject matter to personal experience, to create a context that anyone can learn in.In my free time, I enjoy kayaking, softball, golf, and following the stock markets. I also spend a lot of time just hanging out with my wife and daughter and visiting new food spots all around Austin.

A really good teacher will engineer a learning experience that puts the student in the drivers seat, lets them put the pedal to the metal and gets out of the way.

I am a trilingual tutor, who has been raised in the German School in Cairo, Egypt, the country of pyramids and ancient civilizations. The German School is highly reputable and caters to the needs of children of the German expats, where I lived a double cultured life and got certified by the German Ministry of Education in Bonn, Germany.Afterwards, I studied Chemical Engineering and had an internship in Hanover Germany at the "Institute for Petroleum Research".My love to the German Language drove me to work for Swissair and Lufthansa Airlines, interacting with German speaking customers on a daily basis. I frequently traveled to German speaking countries for both work and pleasure. I have received all my work related training in Switzerland and Germany. After long years, I switched careers from the travel industry to tutoring the German language in multinational language centers. I discovered that dealing with children and youth is very delightful and cheering, and helping them understand something new enables one to see their glowing eyes and their shining smiles. Teaching adults is as interesting to me as teaching children as there are more ways to connect and a broader platform to exchange culture.Having studied the Arabic English Translation Diploma at the American University in Cairo, Egypt, added to my strong Arabic grammar skills as an Arabic tutor.

Hello, my name Mr. M.! I was born and raised in San Bernardino, CA in a uniquely Guatemalan-Mexican household. I graduated from Brown University with a degree in Honors in Ethnic Studies.I took a year off to figure out what exactly I wanted to do; that's when I first began my children into the field of education. I started volunteering with a nonprofit called School on Wheels, which offers free tutoring services for students experiencing homelessness. I also started working part time as an instructional aide in Special Education, where I worked with several different types of populations including: Deaf/HOH, Autism, and Emotionally and Socially Delayed. When I returned, I wanted to continue to work with underserved youth to best empathize with my future classroom, so I signed up to provide free tutoring/babysitting services for a local domestic violence shelter. In those trainings is where I formed my understandings of trauma-informed pedagogy, and every students' actions is a form of communication. A student must feel safe, comfortable, heard and affirmed in order to learn. Continuing this trend, In the summer of 2019, I had a fellowship with Ascend Public Charter Schools in which for the first four week I received rigorous training on culturally responsive pedagogy. The following four weeks I spent in a classroom with a mentor teacher receiving feedback daily on how to improve my craft and my engagement. This, along with my trauma-informed pedagogy training really prepared me for the unexpected -- COVID.2020 was the first year I worked full time as a bilingual Kindergarten teacher, in which we started the year virtually and then transitioned into in person learning. The past school year was unlike any other, and even veteran teachers were at a loss. Through the values of joy, flexibility, adaptability, and student-interest based, I got my students to the level they needed to be.I hope to continue this type of work here; I am excited to make connections and get to know you, scholars! #SiSePuede!

I graduated with a BA in English and Sociology with a minor in Anthropology from the University of Washington in 2010. I then went on to work in Early Childhood Education before seeking a Master of Education in Instruction and Curriculum Design from Concordia University in Portland, which I completed in September of 2016.I have taught all ages, from 3 to adult. I find most the most joy in teaching English and Reading, as I feel there is so much to discover in the grand world of books.I believe that learning should be fun, and that everyone is a capable individual. Sometimes the traditional route of learning isn't the best way, and that's okay. People see and understand things differently, and we may need to take a different approach. To me, understanding has more power than rote memorization.
