I consider myself an exception to the rule. Why? In high school, I played the flute and piccolo and marched during halftime while wearing my cheerleading uniform. I also graduated from the International Baccalaureate program. At Texas A&M University, I studied mechanical engineering and worked as a resident assistant in a private dorm where I put on social events, including Calculus tutoring. I took tumbling twice for fun and I minored in mathematics because the idea of taking additional math classes made me excited. After college, I joined Teach For America and taught 6th grade science for three years because teaching students was more appealing to me than making money in engineering. Evidence of my love for teaching is throughout this history. In high school, I tutored fellow band members struggling in algebra, geometry, and calculus so they could pass and continue marching. I also helped lead a study group for the IB Physics HL test. During my first year of college, I tutored ten people in my Calculus I class, all at the same time (so at that point it was basically another Calculus class). The teacher was brilliant but he did not know how to explain the challenging concepts in ways students could understand, so I had fun developing my tutoring to adapt to each individual person and better help him/her understand what seems IMPOSSIBLE and make it POSSIBLE and ENJOYABLE. Before joining Teach For America, I volunteered for my former 6th grade English teacher and focused on two students in building their writing confidence. Teaching 6th grade science, I integrated math whenever I could and I had the opportunity to teach math for summer school.Everyone can understand math and science if they can relate to the subject. I will guide you to your personal understanding and relations with whatever math (middle school, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus) or science (middle school, physics) subject you struggle with. I understand the frustration that comes with not being able to comprehend what's going on (history does this to me!) but it helps to know that you can overcome the frustration with guidance from a tutor and determination that you can do it! 2+2=4 was once the hardest math problem in your life but after practice, it's intuitive... and I can work with you on a path to make all math feel that way. Understanding projectile motion in physics or electron configuration in atoms for middle school can be tough but with real-world examples and using your imagination, there is no limit on what you can learn and truly understand! Thanks for taking the time to read a bit about me, and I look forward to joining you on a learning journey soon!

Hi, I am finishing my senior year at Texas A&M at College Station with a degree in biomedical science. My plans are to go to medical school and eventually become a doctor. I believe there is an interpersonal relationship that develops between a tutor and his student that is much harder to achieve in a school setting. I believe the potential for learning in a one on one environment far surpasses a classroom setting because of the mentor relationship that forms between a tutor and his student. In high school, I was in the position of a student that needed academic help but could not find it in the classroom. It was after a family friend that was also a tutor devoted their time and energy to helping me succeed that I was able to truly learn. He is still my close friend to this day and I hope to emulate his impact to me onto my future students.

My goal as a tutor is to help YOU find what works for YOU. Over the years, I've heard many students claim they don't like writing, but I want to help you view the writing process as an opportunity to express yourself, and crystallize your ideas and beliefs. Let's approach writing as a chance to discover and refine your thoughts and opinions to paraphrase E.M. Forster, how do you know what you think until you see what you write? Your "way in" to writing can use what speaks to you we can start with music, sports, art, movies, dance, video games, exercise, knitting, books, sculpture, or anything else you love! Even though writing is work for all of us, it's a creative process that brings great rewards when you see what you've accomplished, and I'll do everything I can to help you be successful and enjoy the journey.

I attended Texas A&M in College Station from August 2009 until graduation in May 2013. I graduated with a degree in Environmental Design, or an Architecture Degree. Shortly after graduation I obtained my Texas Real Estate license. I am know currently in the process of obtaining my Texas Alternative Teacher Certification. My dream is to teach math in either the high school or middle school level. Also, I want to teach and see young people achieve their dreams in life. I really love it when the light bulb goes on and a student finally understands the material at hand. All through out college I worked at a summer camp for kids. I worked in many aspect from Camp Counselor to Camp Leadership. All though years working at this camp taught me how to relate to kids of all ages. The camp has also taught me what it means to mentor and be an example to the younger generations. Tutoring to me is not a once or twice a week thing. My goal is to see the student succeed in all walks of life. I really enjoy tutoring math because it is really interesting how it bleeds into all forms of other jobs. It forms a bases to do whatever you dream up to do. My tutor philosophy is very simple. I think the student should be the main focus of any teaching or tutoring. For this reason, all teaching and tutoring will be tailored to what the student needs help with the most. This also means that the way it is taught will also be tailored. Like does the child learn better by watching videos or just by simply hearing it explained a different way. I believe that if the student is not the main focus in any learning environment then it is just a waste of time.

I love tutoring chemistry, from general chemistry basics to organic chemistry. I enjoy teaching students about how the basic building blocks interact with each other because of how much it changes one's scope on our physical world. I like teaching in a way that engages the students in conversation such as asking questions. I feel as though this makes students more interested in what they are learning.

I am honored to have the opportunity to tutor you or your client and look forward to beginning a successful journey ahead. I received my bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and my medical degree from Avalon University School of Medicine, and I am currently applying to begin my medical residency training. I have tutored several students in college and medical school - though it was not a paid job through a company. I have helped many peers and classmates to understand topics and strengthen their weak areas in subjects that range from math, science, philosophy and English literature. I have been told that teaching comes naturally to me and that I have an effective way of communicating and relaying information to my students which truly benefits them.I tutor math (up to high school level), biological sciences(up to graduate school level), philosophy(up to undergraduate school level) and English literature(up to undergraduate school level). I am not limited to those subjects, however, and would be happy to tutor other subjects that fall into different categories. My favorite subjects to tutor are both math and science. I love math because there is always a distinct answer to each problem that can be solved with the right formula, and it is a universal subject taught the same way throughout the world. I also love science because it is the core of our makeup as human beings down right to the trillions of cells in our bodies and explains the world around us at large. In particular, with my medical training I have acquired the knowledge and skills to also teach graduate level medical sciences such as physiology, anatomy, and pathology. With that said, I can teach anything science related from an elementary school level to a college level.I believe a student learns best when they are fully engaged and present in the moment. My teaching style ensures that students are engaged and are having fun while they are learning so that they enjoy the process rather than them experiencing it is something that just needs to be done. I like to create a friendly and comfortable environment for my students so that they are relaxed throughout the process and look forward to our tutoring sessions. I take pleasure in enabling my students to realize that their academic improvements and accomplishments will help them to not only advance in their respective classes and careers but will make them more knowledgeable people who will have the privilege to contribute and add value to the society around them.Outside of academia, I have many varied interests and hobbies such as fitness and weight lifting, photography, video editing, choreographed ethnic performances, going out to the movies, basketball and football, trying different and new cuisines, world politics, traveling, keeping up with fashion trends for men and public speaking.

I am currently a student at Texas A&M University. I will be graduating in Fall 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Throughout my years in high school and college, I have always helped tutor my classmates in various subjects. In high school, I took AP Spanish 5 and I would tutor my friends in reading proficiency and being able to answer questions after reading stories in Spanish. I am also currently tutoring a friend in college who wants to continue his experience with Spanish. I grew up learning both English and Spanish and I want to be able to share a part of my culture with others! I also want to say that there are different types of Spanish and I would be teaching Argentinian Spanish unless told otherwise. I also specialize in tutoring beginner to somewhat advanced Mathematics and beginner Electrical Engineering courses. I have taken a lot of difficult courses throughout my years at Texas A&M and I want to be able to take my knowledge and help others learn as well. My experience includes mainly one-on-one tutoring along with a few group sessions. My teaching philosophy focuses on creating a supportive, inclusive, and interactive learning environment. Learning a new language or even learning electrical engineering is hard, so I want to be able to adapt my ways of teaching depending on a student's learning style to achieve our collective goal of them understanding the material. Learning is also fun and I want to show my students that it truly is a great privilege to learn different things!

After high school, I attended San Jacinto College where I earned my associates degree in mathematics. I then transferred to Texas A&M University and graduated May 2016 with a bachelors in geophysics. While attending both San Jacinto College I tutored for the on campus tutoring center for a year and a half. While tutoring for San Jacinto College I learned different techniques to tutor algebra and calculus. When I moved to College Station to attend A&M, I tutored for Blinn College for 2 years. I once again tutored calculus and algebra. I honed my skills in those subjects while slowly getting more comfortable with physics. My tutoring style is one where I try to get a lot of feedback from the student. I try to not simply give out answers because I want to know the student is understanding the material. I believe math can be overcome given enough examples. It???s like working out any other muscle; the more you do it the easier it becomes and when you have an instructor with you, it becomes easier to get the hang of.My experience with tutoring and in school has made me realize that when a tutor or professor is brilliant in their field (they just naturally get the subject) they are less likely to be able to help students that don???t get it. The tutor/professor that just gets it is making connections the student can???t (at the moment) and communication become difficult. I try to minimize this by asking a lot of questions and always examining what detail might not be as trivial as I feel them to be.Over my college career I???ve been a part of different student organizations. At San Jacinto College I was a part of the speech and debate team, the honors program, and the on campus newspaper. While at Texas A&M I was part of the AAPG Student Chapter and the Geology & Geophysics Society. These student organizations along with 3 years of tutoring allowed me to talk to a lot of people and refine my communication skills.I???m a very understanding person and I want students to be comfortable with me. I learn as much from the people I tutor as I hope they do from me. I don???t think there is any shame in not understanding something or answering questions wrong (as long as you understand why you???re wrong and how to fix it). I???ve been known to give the wrong answer to a question in class and it helped my understanding of subject a lot more.I want to continue to encounter different types of learning, teaching, and thinking.

I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2021 with a masters in English and graduate certificate in Digital Humanities. My thesis was titled "Endurance and Hope: Christian Heroism in Tolkien's Legendarium." Chivalry, Beowulf, medieval mysticism, World War Iall wrapped up in Middle-earth.I'm originally from San Antonio, but am now living in the DFW area, working as an adjunct professor in the Integrated Reading and Writing Department at Collin College. I also run a teaching business on Outschool.com, where I offer classes on language, literature, and braille for ages 8-18. These tie my interests together: from 2012 to 2020, I freelance tutored elementary through college students in braille and assistive technology, and in grad school I was a TA for upper-level English courses. My favorite subject to tutor is Englishliterature, grammar, vocabulary, and the rest of it. Clear writing and solid reading comprehension are critical to any career path. But more than that, they allow us to form connections with one another across time and space. There is a reason we speak of the humanities. While I don't neglect practical skills, I have a nonutilitarian view of learning. The primary purpose of education is not to equip the laborer for the workforce, but to form the human person. I encourage my students first to love learning for its own sake, and then to find a use for it. This is both more enjoyable and more practical: you remember better, and pursue more deeply, the knowledge you learn for love.In my free time, I enjoy singing, playing the piano, and writing stories.

I graduated Stephen F. Austin High School with a distinguished diploma and Cum Laude. Currently, I am studying at Texas A&M University to receive a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in History. While studying at Austin High School, I tutored students in a one to one setting for Honors Chemistry I. I also tutored between six and ten students in a group setting for the U.S. History AP exam. Following graduation, I have tutored students in a one to one setting via Skype or in person over the topics mentioned earlier. Professionally, I have tutored children below the age of 8 in basic mathematics and reading comprehension, while also serving as an assignment grader and answer key maker.Overall, I enjoy teaching subjects ranging from the humanities and social sciences to fundamental math and science; however, I personally love to teach History and Writing due to their importance in the realm of personal and intellectual development. History is the story of how the world arrived at its present state, and it is filled with hard lessons and memories learned from those long past. Written language is one of mankind's greatest achievements, as it allows us to communicate with and pass on knowledge much farther than our voices can project, and much deeper than simple memory will allow. Taken together, these subjects give students the power to analyze and record their observations and stretch their creative talents. I believe that education, and specifically knowledge, is the first step towards removing ignorance and discord in our world, and I always try to impart that belief on my students through the Socratic Method; rather than giving the answer, I try to lead students in the right path, as the feeling of wonder when experiencing inspiration and discovery itself justifies the place of knowledge in personal development. In my spare time, aside from intellectual growth, I like to play video games, read good books, and watch movies from all genres. Also, spending time with family and friends can never be overemphasized.

I'm a born and raised Austinite and recently earned my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University in May 2015. I mostly tutor high school/college math and science courses, as well as SAT/ACT and MCAT prep. My favorite classes to help students with are biology, physics, biochemistry and statistics! I took 14 AP classes in high school, and retook many of the math and sciences class in college. I think this helps with tutoring because I learned the material multiple times and from many great teachers, so if a student doesn't understand a concept at first, I can hopefully explain it in another way that I've learned.I like working with students that are self motivated and want to have a tutor, no matter their current skill level in a class. Having a great teacher or tutor won't help if the student does not want to learn and put in the work. However, I truly believe any student can not just succeed, but excel, if they work hard and have the right support system.Aside from tutoring, I love to cook and play Ultimate Frisbee. I also work as an emergency room medical scribe, and I am extremely excited to be attending medical school at UTMB in Galveston in August 2016!

I am a professional chemist with a Ph.D. from Texas A&M. I have 4 children 16,13,13,11 and since we homeschool I am very involved in their education. Personally, I am very involved in my kids sports and school. I like to run and play competitive sand volleyball.I have lectured and tutored chemistry since graduate school. I am very good at going through problems with students and explaining the material so they can complete the homework faster and remember it well for the exams. I think the strongest case for hiring a tutor is efficiency. If I am there as you work through the problems I make sure you understand how you set up and complete the problem as you do it, while at the same time reinforce the chemistry concepts. Basically, you will spend your time mastering the material vs laboring to figure out how to complete each problem.

I am a mechanical engineering student at Texas A&M, and am able to teach AP Calculus AB, Calculus 1, Pre-Calculus, Algebra 2, Algebra 1, and lower level math courses. I like to ensure my students have a foundational understanding of math, and are able to connect concepts across different courses in order to understand the bigger picture in their curriculum. Outside of tutoring, I am also working as a research assistant, focusing on machine learning and robotics.

I'm a proud Old Ag (class of 2011) and recent University of Texas Grad. I received my BA from Texas A&M in International Affairs and Spanish and my MA in Journalism. Most recently, I was a teaching assistant for undergraduate Journalism classes. I worked with students on their writing and multi-media skills. I have also taught adult ESL classes. However, my interest in education and teaching developed much earlier. My mom has been a teacher since I was a child, she and her co-worker friends taught me the importance constantly learning and growing. I am passionate about art, writing, foreign languages and history. My favorite subject area is Spanish. I am incredibly proud of my mastery of the language. I would love to help other students realize that they are capable of doing the same.

I am an MPH graduate from NYU who is passionate about helping others. I also got my undergraduate degree at Texas A&M in public health. This is where I discovered my love for tutoring when I was a tutor for the athletics department. I tutor many subjects, including math, science, and writing (my personal favorite). I have been on both sides of being a tutor and tutoring, so I feel I can help students achieve their goals and tap into their fullest potential. I cook, read, work out, or explore my city's art scene during my downtime. I can't wait to work with you and cheer you on as you accomplish your goals!

I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2021 (A-Whoop!) with a degree in elementary education. I recently finished my first year of teaching at Mill Street Elementary in LISD as a 5th grade teacher. I have always loved teaching. It is a joy to get to know my students, their interests and motivations, and to walk alongside them as a helpmate. For me, education is all about discovering what makes us passionate. There is nothing more rewarding than pursuing ones passion, and I want to help others find their own. I have tutored elementary kids as well as college-age kids, mainly in English Language Arts. I am a big book-reader and history-lover. Thank you for your consideration.

I have been tutoring in one way or another since 2013 when I started working as a Chemistry TA while getting my own Chemistry degree and continued doing so all the way through my Ph.D. program. I have a regular career now as a medical device physicist, but still enjoy working with students and getting them closer toward achieving their goals and dreams. I mainly focus on math, and science for the high school and early college levels, but I also have a lot of experience working with students in preparing for college entrance exams. This is still a passion for me which is why I continue to tutor. If my profile matches what you are looking for, feel free to reach out. :)

Hi Ya'll,Thank you for reviewing my profile and personal statement. Below is a quick timeline and outline of my subject and teaching experience as well as my teaching philosophy. In 2011 I was awarded a undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University. I had pursed Biomedical Engineering out of my love from mathematics and the science and their fusion together. This degree required I learn Math, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Physiology and various applied Engineering courses that required an understanding of how these fields worked and could be contextualized together. While an undergraduate student I became a Michal E. DeBakey Scholar and worked for a lab that was mathematically modeling the cardiovascular system. I was put in charge of leading my own research team, which required me to teach and aid other students. I began to realize that while I loved science I also greatly loved teaching and seeing fellow students overcome their fear of any subject. This lead me to teaching high school Biology through the Texas Teaching Fellows program at Stony Point High School in Round Rock, TX. I saw a lot of my at-risk and even pre-AP students struggling with phobias of science or math. It was truly rewarding to find what it would take to see that student achieve. This experience confirmed my love teaching and helping any student overcome their fear of a subject material. It also helped me realize how much I missed music, which had always been a passion of mine. These experiences lead me to the University of Texas at Arlington where I am currently pursing a second undergraduate degree in Music Composition and Music Education.I am passionate about learning and teaching. I believe that every student is able and can over come any learned helplessness or fear of a subject if it is broken down and explained in manner specific to that students??? learning and communication style. I see my self as a facilitator and seek to help students become independent and successful life long learners.
