I am a Communications Major with a penchant for reading, writing, some math, and film! (I picked up a Cinema Studies Minor as well) I used to be an editor in a few newspapers, so I love working with others to improve their writing skills. I have tutored many areas in both high school and college and have coached softball to girls of many ages. I especially love helping students master their test-taking skills, because I understand what it was like having to navigate such a high pressure environment! Providing just a few tools can make a world of difference.

I am a huge component of constant feedback. A session may be wasted if feedback is only provided in the last five minutes. For this reason, I would help students stay motivated by maintaining a conversation over the material and relating to other interesting aspects of their life. Hobbies: books, reading, writing, music, art, sports

I am able to determine what obstacles are preventing a student from grasping a concept, and create different means of overcoming those obstacles. Creating a partnership with the student and understanding what he or she needs to overcome is what makes me a great tutor.

I am an undergraduate at Rice University, and my favorite subjects to tutor are math and science. I also enjoy doing test prep, and my experience comes from helping fellow students in high school. One of the most important aspects of tutoring is fitting the teaching style to each student. One method that works great for one student may not work well for another. Tutoring is all about coming up with different ways for my students to understand the material. If my student is not interested in the subject we are learning, I will try to find a way to tie in their interests and passions into the subject to better engage them. I want to be there for my students, not only as a tutor, but also as a friend. In addition to my interests in math and science (and learning in general), I enjoy swimming, biking, reading, and cooking. I also believe that fostering curiosity and determination are the keys to success. Hobbies: art, books, reading, cooking, music, swimming, writing

I am a science writer and podcaster with a rigorous academic background who is passionate about sharing my knowledge of chemistry with curious minds. I earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and Asian art history from UC Berkeley and completed a PhD in inorganic chemistry at MIT. I have five years of experience teaching college-level general and organic chemistry courses at various institutions in California, Massachusetts, New York, and Texas, and hope to expand on my experience as a private tutor. Often a required subject for other classes, chemistry is often considered "the central science" as it's related to biology and physics, and I appreciate that chemical principles can be observed throughout daily life from cooking to medicine to electronics. I believe that education is the world's greatest social equalizer and hope that my students learn to make new connections between classes and other aspects of their life. Outside of science, I love dogs, food, and the outdoors.

Frequently Asked Questions
Varsity Tutors connects students across Beaumont's 45 schools and all three school districts—serving the broader student population of over 20,000 across the area. Whether your student attends a school in Beaumont ISD, West Orange-Cove CISD, or another local district, we match them with tutors who understand the specific curriculum and academic expectations they're working with.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 15.7:1 in Beaumont schools, classroom teachers often have limited time for individualized attention. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction fills that gap by giving your student focused support tailored to their learning pace and specific challenges—something that's difficult to achieve in larger classroom settings.
Tutors who work with Beaumont students are familiar with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards and how local schools implement them. Whether your student needs support with STAAR preparation, grade-level math and reading skills, or advanced coursework, personalized instruction helps bridge gaps and build confidence in meeting state expectations.
The first session is an assessment and goal-setting conversation where the tutor learns about your student's current level, specific challenges, and academic goals. They'll review relevant coursework, understand what's being taught in their Beaumont school, and create a personalized plan for moving forward—no pressure, just clarity on how to help.
Beaumont students seek tutoring across a wide range of subjects, with particularly high demand for math support (algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus), reading comprehension, STAAR test preparation, and science courses like biology and chemistry. We also work with students on writing skills, study habits, and test-taking strategies that directly support their classroom success.
Varsity Tutors considers your student's specific subject needs, learning style, grade level, and goals when making a match. Tutors in our network who work with Beaumont students understand local school curricula and can support everything from homework help to standardized test prep—and if the first match isn't quite right, we'll work to find a better fit.
Yes. Personalized tutoring for students in Beaumont is scheduled around your family's availability—whether that's after school, weekends, or during the summer. This flexibility means your student can get the support they need without adding stress to an already full schedule of school, sports, and activities.
Tutoring costs vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions—there's no one-size-fits-all price. We recommend starting with a conversation about your student's specific needs so we can give you transparent pricing and help you find an option that works for your budget.
