I'm an electrical engineer working in the pro audio hardware industry. I currently hold a MSEE and BSEE with a minor in physics. I've also been a professional musician since the late 90s. I aim to help students develop their own intuition when solving problems and learning new concepts. If you're having trouble in some areas, there's a good chance I've already struggled through it!

I am a graduate of Grand Valley University with a Bachelors of Psychology. Since graduation, I have found a passion in working with and teaching children. I found this through my experience working at a daycare/learning center. In this position, I worked with a range of children between the age of 3 weeks to 12 years old, caring for them and providing an environment that allowed them to learn and grow. From there, I wanted to expand my experience in the classroom and took a role as a building substitute teacher at an elementary school. Through this, I worked in all elementary grades, teaching a variety of subjects and learned a lot about myself and how important adaptability is. I am excited to see what the future of my educational career holds for me as I plan to go back to school for my Masters in Special Education.

I have worked with many varied and diverse school populations, and all school ages. I went to Brooklyn College for both my Bachelor's degree and Master's degree and New York Law School for my law degree. I am well versed in English, math up to Algebra 2, Science, Social Studies and the LSAT. I most enjoy tutoring Reading, Math and Logic. I believe that in preparing for anything in life, including exams, the process is more important than any individual answer. I believe that, while you may through luck or other unknowns, you may occasionally get a correct answer with the wrong process, you will be far more successful, and your thinking will be more confident and clearer by following a logical, rigorous process to get to an answer. You are also more likely to get more correct answers. Moreover, focusing on the process in solving problems will also aid in life in general. If one uses a good process to make decisions, they will, over time, be more likely to be correct. I also believe that the best mindset to take a test is a laid back mindset. I think that a calm, relaxed approach is essential to test taking, and learning in general. Tension and undue pressure leads to fuzzy and unnecessarily quick thinking which is more prone to error. I do not subscribe to the drill sergeant methodology, and tend to, in my own life, try to be relaxed while structured. In doing so, you can more effectively respond to the unexpected because your thinking is clear. There is enough pressure due to the very nature of these tests, and their implications, that adding more is not helpful. I believe that focus is important and that you should allow your mind breaks during a test to ensure your focus is at its best. I tutored my children and both followed these ideas and did very well both in school and on standardized tests. I enjoy music, sports, reading and astronomy.

I now work as an Administrative Specialist for the Judicial College of Maryland. I previously worked as an assistant teacher teaching middle school language arts and reading. I like using supplemental materials during tutoring if it fits the student's needs such as current events articles that relate to the subject matter. I also have volunteered as an ESL teacher for adults so I am comfortable tutoring pupils of all ages!

I am a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign pursuing a degree in Biology on a pre-dental track. While my major is Biology, I am also very passionate about math and chemistry. In my past experiences teaching, a common issue I found was students feeling overwhelmed by the study material. I use a methodical, step-by-step approach that simplifies the question, and I hope to make learning a simple, enjoyable experience for my students. In my spare time, I enjoy lifting, basketball, and playing the guitar.
