I am a current student at the University of Texas at Dallas. I am majoring in Computer Science. In my time in school, I've noticed that subjects that can be captivating and interesting are oftentimes disliked by students because they have had a bad experience with a teacher in that subject. I understand that some students learn differently, and I take it upon myself to make sure that my students' needs are met. It is my mission to make learning fun and enjoyable to students.

Hello, there! My name is Sarah Manns, and I am a 19-year-old Sophomore at the University of Texas at Dallas. I’m currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Literary Studies, minoring in Psychology, and am working towards teaching certification. Afterwards, I intend to work towards my Masters Degree in Humanities with a focus on Studies in Literature. I have been a part of the Future Teacher Internship program at my high school, worked as a teaching intern/assistant, and am currently employed as an AVID tutor. I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade, though my specialty lies with older kids. With a GPA of 4.5, I was ranked number 10 in my high school graduating class of over 650 students, and my current GPA at UTD is 3.97.Ever since I was about ten years old, I’ve known I’ve wanted to teach. Helping others is my passion, and I want to have a positive impact on the lives of those I meet. There’s nothing better than the euphoric feeling I get when I know I’ve helped a student succeed, changed their lives for the better, or helped them understand something they once struggled with. Even the little things matter to me, and if nothing else, I’d like to at least bring a smile to every students’ face. I’m a very empathetic person and I hope that when I tutor or eventually teach, my students will feel comfortable to be themselves around me and know that they have someone to turn to for guidance in any situation. I respect each and every student as an individual, as a human being, and as an equal. I don’t view my students as inferior, and by making this level of respect clear, hopefully my students will feel more inclined to express themselves and trust in me. I only want the best for my students, and I will work hard to ensure that every one of them succeeds at their goals at least in some way.I am comfortable tutoring an array of subjects, but I would feel most comfortable tutoring English or math. Any subject that deals with the basic middle school curriculum is fine for me to tackle, thanks to my experience working as a middle school AVID tutor. Even if, for some reason, I am somewhat rusty or unfamiliar with a particular subject, I can use the AVID method to draw upon what the student already knows, ask pertinent and engaging questions, keep the student focused and on task, and guide the student to reach the conclusion fairly independently. Since I’ve recently graduated high school (2015), most of the material is still relatively fresh in my mind. At most, I’ll need a quick refresher on a certain topic, but I will be quick to remember and highly effective in helping a struggling student gain a better understanding. I have experience with taking standardized tests like the SAT, PSAT, TAKS, AND STAAR (among others) and with taking multiple AP classes and tests. I’ve been a very successful student in my academic career, and am quite enthusiastic about passing down knowledge or tips to any student who wants them.I have a fairly flexible schedule and am willing to change things up depending on the needs of my clients. I will be extremely positive, cooperative, and willing to meet any needs that you or your child have. I want to see happiness, success, and light bulbs going off in my students’ heads! I hope you’ll consider me as a good fit for your student.Thank you very much!
Hi there! I gradated university with a neuroscience B.S. and since then, pursued graduate education in healthcare and research. I have previously worked as an independent tutor for the past three years in my local community teaching SAT, OAT, physics, calculus, and organic chemistry. My expertise covers a broad range of subjects, but I am most passionate about life sciences and mathematics. In my experience tutoring, the key to my success lied with my connection to the student. I have learned adaptable and empathetic tutoring allows me and my students to come together and solve tricky learning gaps. Education is a journey. Tutoring is important to me because I have seen students, with the right support, unlock the potential they have to chase after their dreams! When I am not teaching I love going outdoors, engrossing myself in a good book, and occasional painting!
Speech language pathology has been my life's work. It is a personal and professional passion to see others reach their maximum potential.
As someone who has been in engineering school for four years now, I have gained extensive knowledge in scientific and mathematical fields as well as a dependency on copious amounts of coffee.During this time I learned something extremely important: We may all learn differently but we usually all make similar mistakes when it comes to learning. At one time I myself greatly struggled with learning topics related to my field. I learned how to overcome my weaknesses and study smarter, not harder. My aim is to pass off the skills I have acquired in college that way others can avoid repeating the mistakes of countless others and have a successful college experience. Success breeds success and a strong start is extremely important to maintain a positive experience and outlook.
I am a passionate elementary school teacher. I specialize in PK-2nd grade curriculum in ELA and math. However, I am capable of teaching and tutoring through sixth grade.
No matter what you want to do in life, education is needed for a strong foundation for confidence and character. But sometimes that foundation can be shaky and reinforcement is needed; this is where I come in! Being the oldest sibling of 5 and graduating in the top 20 students of my high school class has given me many skills and first-hand experience needed to help you or your child not only understand the material in front of them, but to become comfortable in manipulating it and explaining it to others. My tutoring style is explanation before memorization: I always look for the root of the problem when something is misunderstood and allow the student to work their way to the answer (they always know more than they think they do!). I am highly adaptable to all types of personalities and age groups from my interactions as a camp counselor, helping my younger siblings with their own homework, and tutoring my peers all throughout middle school and high school in AP courses ranging from English to Math. I am also a pre-med student at UT Dallas and my goal has always been to serve others, so naturally I'm ready to serve you or your child!
I have a Master's in Accounting from The University of Texas at Dallas and a CPA license. I have worked in public and industry accounting fields, doing tax and financial statement preparation. I have worked as an accounting supervisor, developing training materials and leading training sessions on fundamental accounting concepts. I enjoy finding new ways to explain difficult concepts and looking at them from various perspectives to help students and accountants. I tutor on financial accounting and CPA exam content and am passionate about helping people prepare for these exams.
Want to raise your ACT or SAT score? Long-time tutor, Dallas native, Hockaday and UT/Dallas graduate Alexandra has enjoyed a full life as an entrepreneur, equestrian professional, journalist, teacher, actor, stage director and non-profit manager in both Texas and California. She has lectured in theatre criticism at the University of North Texas and is an award-winning short story non-fiction author. As a teacher she created a nationally-recognized arts leadership camp in the Sierras, taught creative expression and drama to grade through high school levels in public and charter schools, developed drama programs for non-profits and has even tutored Latin. She is nationally credentialed as an NEA/USC/ Annenberg and Eugene O'Neill Institute theatre critic. She coaches a full verbal subject array and focuses on ACT /SAT test prep and college application essays. An ACT/SAT Specialist, she has tutored over 2000 hours combined. Many of her students achieve composites over 30 in the ACT, comparable improvement in the SAT. She brings originality, grounded understanding, wit, and passion to her sessions. (And she assigns reasonable homework.) Today's students are tomorrow's leaders and citizens. Alexandra honors that reality.
I am a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas, working towards a degree in mathematics with a concentration in statistics and a minor in accounting, and, eventually a masters in statistics. I am fascinated by all branches of mathematics, but have a particular affinity for statistics, as understanding data is crucial. I have tutored in the past at a community school in west Dallas, and derive great enjoyment from seeing others learn things I know.
I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Dallas. I received my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math and Computer Programming. I believe education is important in building the future generation and making the world a better place. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2014. This semester, I am going back to UTD to pursue my Masters degree. I moved to the U.S. five years ago and without even realizing it, I became my family’s private interpreter. Not long after that, I realized I could make a living connecting words and worlds. I became an interpreter and I did so for many years.I am always fascinated by the fact that, nowadays, knowing a language can set you apart. It can make the difference between getting a scholarship, an internship, and even a job. I love languages because you can learn not only grammar and pronunciation, but beliefs, history and cultures.Learning something new is NEVER easy! It takes time and patience, but once you "get it", you will feel amazing! Learning English changed my life and I want to help you change yours.
I am a tutor available to teach a wide range of subjects, ranging from test prep to math and history. I am interested in helping any student with a desire to improve their understanding their subject of choice. My personal favorite are history, literature, economics and politics. I have worked with a diverse age group of students, from elementary to university level, with the bulk of my experience with high school and college level work.I have a Master's Degree from the University of Washington in Public Administration and a BA from the University of Texas at Dallas in International Political Economy. Apart from academics, I enjoy photography and kayaking.
First, a student, second, a teacher. This mindset reminds me to take a step back and meet students where they are background knowledge, current situation, feelings about what is to be learned, dreams and goals. It's important for me to listen to understand students when I work with them. This way, I can ask better questions to help them grow in specific knowledge, as well as in life in ways that work for them. This way, my students leave sessions satisfied, fulfilled, and feel it was time well-spent. My education background is in the sciences - for the first half of my undergraduate education, I lived in New Orleans and studied Neuroscience at Tulane University. There, I took a Teaching position for an AP Calculus class at New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School my first real experience in a teacher-like role in after-school study sessions. An important question to ask students became "What do you want to get out of the class and our time together?" this way I could align my expectations of students with their goals. After Tulane, I went back home to finish my undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Dallas. More of my teaching philosophy was developed here with positions as Teaching Assistant in Biochemistry and Supplemental Instruction Leader in Physics at the Student Success Center. Here, I started to see teaching as an art of sharing information and helping peers think in new ways about how to take-in and assimilate knowledge. I hadn't considered teaching as a career up to this point; I had always wanted to be a doctor. I took the MCAT in 2015, and interviewed for medical school in Texas. I decided on UT Southwestern. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at UT Dallas and then went on to complete two and half years of medical school with clinical rotations at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I liked all the specialties in which I rotated, but I did not feel called to any one specialty in particular like my peers did. This is why I left medical school in 2018 to pursue a M.S. in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience at UT Dallas. Since then, I have taught with Kaplan Test Prep as an MCAT Instructor for In-Person, Kaplan Partner Solutions Institutional Partnerships, and Live Online delivery modes. At Kaplan, my teaching style has matured incorporating elements of growth mindset and learning science with spaced repetition of relevant concepts all while meeting students where they are on their journeys in education. Now, as an Honors Chemistry teacher at Coppell High School, I am able to design learning to meet individual student needs in a dual-delivery space: in-person and online education, all at the same time, via zoom. Helping students achieve their full potential is my passion, and I specialize in MCAT science. Please reach out with questions!
My goal is to connect with students on a personal level so teaching them complex concepts becomes an enjoyable learning experience. My forte is test taking skills especially for the SAT, PSAT, and AP exams. I have strong credentials from high school and experience in college as a Senior. Alongside my passion for teaching I guarantee the success of my students in their pursuit of excellence.
Hi, I'm Kenzie! I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at UT Dallas and I've been tutoring online for 4 years now. My favorite subjects to teach are math and science, but reading and writing come in a close second.
An organized professional who takes value in making content accessible to all. Skilled at communicating complex information in a simple and entertaining way.
Micah is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Dallas majoring in Information Technology Systems and Finance. He has years of experience tutoring and training students as he led a team of 78 students to the international level of DECA competition (the largest team in Texas).Micah likes taking unique, unorthodox approaches to solving problems. His hobby includes expanding his horizons about the technology and business world.
My name is Neil, and I have a passion for helping others understand and learn. I have tutored for two years now and have had the privilege of watching students excel at concepts that were once difficult and hard to grasp. I try my best to tailor every session to my students' needs because I have found that directly addressing problems and personally working on building confidence in a subject are key for developing stronger learners. Aside from mastering their own subjects, I want to help students feel comfortable dealing with new material, and approach every problem with a positive mindset!
As a college writing and ESL teacher, I have the expertise to help any high school or university student who needs help in an English-related field. I'm not just an experienced teacher, either; as a current PhD candidate at UT Dallas, I am staying sharp and up to date on the subjects that I tutor. Are you struggling with a high school English class? I've taught 9th grade ELA. Are you struggling with a college ESL or writing class? I teach those subjects. In addition, with a perfect 170 on the GRE Verbal section, I can teach you the vocabulary and text analysis skills you need to get into graduate school.
I believe that a tutor's duty is to identify and cater to the individual needs and learning styles of their students. It is my goal to help my students understand new and challenging concepts in such a way that the information can be recalled years later. I most enjoy tutoring biology because it is a subject that deeply interests me and calls upon an understanding of many other subjects. I am currently a third year undergraduate at UT Dallas pursuing a degree in biology. I spend my free time working out, volunteering, and being with my friends.
I've had experience tutoring at Kumon Learning Center where I had to engage and encourage multiple students - whose ages ranged from 3 to 15 - at a time. I spent two years tutoring SAT Verbal, Writing and Reading Comp strategies at Karen Dillard's College Prep. I also privately tutored my peers in Spanish while I was an undergraduate at the University of Dallas. One-on-one tutoring provides students with an opportunity to receive the extra instruction and attention that they don't always receive in a classroom setting. There is nothing more frustrating than struggling to understand new concepts and new materials that everyone in your class already understands. As a former Spanish major in a classroom full of native Spanish-speakers, I absolutely can relate to this feeling. As a tutor I make my sessions something the student looks forward to and doesn't dread. I am charismatic and approachable, and I make sure that the student feels comfortable asking questions or for further clarification, and that he or she feels comfortable making mistakes. I am an avid believer in positive reinforcement. Maintaining the student's attention and enthusiasm is a priority for making my tutoring sessions effective and fruitful.
Personal Facts and Style: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Native English Speaker and No Accent (These are important to some students) Patient and Friendly Like to explain things step by step and write a lot on the white board! ALWAYS open to questions and suggestions from students and parents Background: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have always enjoyed teaching new concepts to people, whether formally or informally. To paraphrase an old TV series title, I would say "Have books, will travel" to describe my passion for teaching. Of course, now these "books" are often online, and we travel with laptops and tablets. But learning will always be associated with the word books, in my opinion. My experience includes all levels of mathematics, including calculus, business calculus, and multi-variable calculus. I also love teaching the fundamentals such as algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. I am very comfortable in teaching computer-based topics such as Cloud Computing concepts as well as specifics for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Tutoring Approach: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When tutoring, I first try to understand the student's specific goals and needs. Maybe it's help with HW. Maybe it's general concepts. Perhaps it's a standardized test such as AP, SAT, GRE. What does the student need and what are his/her goals? How can I help? That's my approach. I try to make sessions interactive to make the learning process interesting. This also helps reinforce student learning. For 1-1 sessions, this is relatively easy to do. For group sessions, I try to ask students if they understand, and I give them time to solve the problems that I present. Subjects of Interest to Me (not a complete list) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Science is awesome right? From the biochemical reactions inside of our cells to the extreme biological adaptations of deep-diving sperm whales to the long distance migration of some birds, nature never ceases to amaze me. I love Biology (especially Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Cancer Biology), Chemistry (especially Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry), and Physics (Classical and Modern). I enjoy tutoring in these subjects as stand-alone or as part of the MCAT exam. Current Endeavors ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am currently working on Machine Learning (ML), and specifically neural networks. I use Python (with the Tensor Flow and Kera packages) and Jupyter Notebooks. I also use various tools in the cloud, and I set up billing alerts and cost constraints to ensure that I stay within my prescribed budget. I am also analyzing data such as my own Apple health data (XML format). There are many tools available for data analysis. I like using Microsoft Fabric along with the Azure Cloud, as it provides a good end-to-end solution.
Hello! My name is Aliah Mir and I am a Junior at the University of Texas at Dallas. I have a passion for teaching and would love to help you with anything you need!!
I have over 4 years of experience teaching students from ages 7-55, in a variety of subjects ranging from algebra, to chemistry, to physics. I try to tailor my teaching style to best suit the personality of each individual student, and I look forward to doing the same for you!
Hi! I'm currently a third-year medical student with a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and over five years of experience as a private tutor. Throughout my academic journey, I've developed a strong foundation in math, science, reading, writing, and Spanish, while also gaining extensive experience with standardized exams, including the SAT, ACT, and MCAT. I've successfully navigated both Texas and out-of-state college admissions, as well as the medical school application process, giving me firsthand insight into what it takes to succeed academically and prepare competitive applications. Over the past five years, I've worked one-on-one with students ranging from elementary school through college, adapting my teaching style to each student's unique learning needs. I focus on helping students truly understand the material rather than simply memorizing it. My goal is to build confidence alongside academic skills so students leave each session feeling more capable and motivated.
I'm going into medical school the next academic year at UT Southwestern, and currently at the University of Texas at Dallas for undergraduate studies. I've been tutoring for over 5 years in a variety of subjects, and I love to tutor because I truly believe in supporting students so that they can reach their full potential.
Hello, this is Amin and I teach general chemistry and AP chemistry alongside organic chemistry. I'm looking forward to work with you on these amazing topics.
I am a Biology student at The University of Texas at Dallas. I recently took Calculus 1, and have experience tutoring SAT Math, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. The concepts from these subjects are fresh in my mind, and I would love to help other students succeed as well! I strive to prepare and support students in the most beneficial way possible. From test prep to college application essays, I am ready to help students get the most out of their tutoring. As a science major in college, I am also open to tutoring students needing help in General Chemistry. I have been tutoring students since high school, as I helped run a community program called Homework Help. Since then, tutoring quickly became a passion of mine. Every student learns in different ways, and I aim to help students understand concepts in their learning style with organization and patience. It is my pleasure to help students reach their highest potential and to guide them in the process of achieving their goal.
I am a graduate of The University of Texas where I received my PhD in the Humanities with a focus on History and Literature. In addition to my extensive experience in the classroom, I have also raised a child with learning differences so I am keenly aware that everyone learns at their own speed and in their own way. There are no quick fixes and the student must be a party to their own success. I firmly believe that with organization, a good work ethic, and the proper learning environment, all students can do well in school. However, the most important ingredient is self-confidence, which is only achieved through accomplishing target goals. In the classroom, I concentrate on the individual needs of each of my students by helping them with organizational skills, reading, research techniques, and especially writing. This approach enables each student to not only develop their own style, but provides them with learning tools which can be applied to other areas of study.
I am super passionate about helping my students be successful in their academics and beyond! For over 16 years I have partnered with students in kindergarten through college to assist them in reaching their academic potential! I have a B.A. from UT Dallas in Interdisciplinary Studies, M.A. from Amberton in School Counseling, and M.Ed. from the University of North Texas in Educational Administration. I pride myself in learning about my students and their needs, and I want to build a rapport with them to build their confidence and academic skills. I specialize in elementary reading skills, social studies, and test preparation. I also specialize in TEXES exam preparation. My personality is Texan, southern, very warm, and friendly! When coupled with my background in school counseling, I will help make students of all ages feel at ease! I know we can accomplish amazing things together! I look forward to hearing from y'all! :)

As your tutor, my goal is for you to develop a different understanding of the topics you may or may not know to effectively approach problems.
I've been babysitting for six years, and I've interacted with people of all ages. I've tutored a few of the kids I've babysat, including teaching one how to read and reviewing math with elementary school-age kids. I am also the oldest of four, and have helped them learn their school subjects, all with a range of before Pre-K through middle school. I've also helped my classmates achieve high grades on their essays, and I helped out as an editor/grader for a class that I took in high school.I have graduated from Vista Ridge High School, and I entered the University of Texas at Dallas with 24 credit hours from Austin Community College.Outside of tutoring and academics, I work at a local Salata, play guitar, do a lot of drawing and writing, and spend time with my family and my cat.
I love teaching and mentoring - I have been doing both for the past twenty years. I am a teacher in the local college where I teach programming and computer networking. I have several years' industry experience as well. My teaching approach is personalized and interactive - I try to reinforce concepts using examples and asking questions. Of course, I encourage my students to ask questions as well. I have two sons both of whom finished at the top of their classes in their high schools. My wife is a teacher as well.
Hey there! I'm a certified math teacher, professional sous chef, and budding comedian willing to tutor in my spare time! A graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2013, I have a multitude of both professional and private teaching/tutoring experience and skills. The teaching certification program I completed is heavily focused on STEM education and creating well-rounded students for today's technology centered world. Our lesson plans were both hands-on and thoroughly engaging while ensuring efficacy in education. I firmly believe that every student has the potential for "math literacy"; with a little help, anyone can be a math-confident person. I am most comfortable teaching math subjects (from preschool to BC Calculus), but I do have some background in reading/writing tutoring. I currently work as a sous chef four nights a week, but otherwise my schedule is open. I prefer online but am willing to travel up to 20-25 miles if needed. Contact me with any questions; I am here to help.
My approach to tutoring is flexible and adjusted for every students learning style so to have maximum effectiveness. I can adapt and modify it to meet the individual needs of my students and their areas of weakness. I tutor a variety of subjects, which includes AP Exams, Calculus, Algebra, Physics, Statistics, Differential Equations, General Chemistry, and K-12 Math and Science, as well as a list of standardized tests, ranging from ACT and SAT for high school students as well as AP Exams and AP Subject Tests. I try to maintain the interest of my students by making learning both enjoyable and interesting.I have been tutoring for 6 + years as an K-12th grade tutor as well as college. I have tutored for AP exams, SAT, ACT, and PSAT with great results with 98th percentile grades from my students in the Math and Reading section of the SAT & ACT.As an Electrical Engineering major, I had to be very grounded in math subjects, my mathematics foundation and applications allow me to be a very versatile tutor, breaking down the subject into easy to understand modules. As a result, I am very comfortable and confident in not only tutoring them but doing so at a level and style that students can readily follow and understand. I have taken higher level math courses and understand the fundamentals very well so it allows me to teach them in a way that is basic enough for anyone to understand.Everyone learns in a different way, so each student you teach is different each with their own strengths and weaknesses so tailoring the learning experience to each student is the best way to help the student learn in their own way.Math is easy it is just taught in a way students have difficulty learning, everyone does not think the same but I have a variety of methods to help anyone understand. Having a strong math foundation will help not only in your classes but in life as everything includes math.
I dual majored in Neuroscience and Psychology at UTD. Reading and psychology are my favorite to tutor students in because I am the most passionate about those subjects. I have always been the person that people come to when they need help because I am able to deliver information in a fun way that aligns with the person's skill level.
Teaching has always been a passion for me. I am a undergrad at the University of Texas at Dallas working on my Biomedical Engineering degree. I have tutored students of all ages and backgrounds and am excited to meet new people. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about subjects involving math. I will work hard to make sure you leave more knowledgeable and prepared for what comes next.
I have 15 years of experience in the computer science industry and am an avid public speaker. I have given numerous talks at conferences around the world. I am particularly excited about breaking down difficult topics into easy to understand sessions. My career spans working at the industry's most established companies.
I love empowering students to see their own limitless potential, and to help them build a working knowledge of a subject beyond rote memorization. I have tutored students all throughout high school and college, mostly in subjects related to math or physics. I received two undergraduate degrees in math and physics from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), and am halfway through my master's degree in mathematics, also from UTD. I tutor almost any subject from high school and college math and physics, and also select courses in reading, writing, and English. I also may provide help in preparing for standardized testing. My favorite subjects to teach are undoubtedly math and physics, as I love building a beautiful framework from the ground up with a student, and watching all the pieces fall into place as their understanding solidifies. This is reflected in my teaching philosophy, in which I will try to find some base of knowledge a student already understands well, and build up from there to the desired result: I feel this gives the student a deeper understanding of a subject, so they may easily generalize their knowledge to future endeavors. Outside of academia, I love playing all types of games and a few musical instruments, as well as hanging out with my friends and family.
