As a professional tutor of 10 years, I have learned to be very adaptable to different learning styles. Everyone has different educational needs and my primary goal is to have students understand concepts on a deep, cognitive level. Because of this goal, I cater all of my sessions individually to fit each student's needs. I have experience with special education including students with adhd, autism, and dyslexia. I am a Jersey native and recent graduate of Rutgers University with a BS in Public Health. In college, I tutored middle school students in math and language arts at New Brunswick Middle School. I became very familiar with each student's learning style and leveraged their own strengths to maximize their learning curve and encourage academic development. Informally, I have also taught my fellow peers advanced math concepts they were struggling with in intermediate-level college math. Since graduation, I traveled to Thailand to take part in an ongoing public health project and taught English to elementary school children and health care workers. Although I am well adept in a variety of subject areas, Math and English are my two strong suits. There is no singular right way to learn, and there are as many strategies as there are people in the world. Therefore, as a tutor, my own personal hallmark lies in empowering students to actively use innovative learning methods to grasp even the most challenging of concepts.

I recently graduated from Washington University in St. Louis but am a Brooklyn native and an alumni of Stuyvesant high school. I have been tutoring since my senior year of high school and have always found it to be fun, engaging and rewarding. I have extensive experience with test prep (primarily SAT and LSAT), but have tutored all ages in a variety of subjects including chemistry, physics, trig, history, English, Spanish, and many others. Looking forward to meeting new students and helping as much as I can!In the rest of my life, I love to hike, I listen to a ton of music, and enjoy reading, spending time with friends and playing sports. I plan on attending law school in the next few years and hope to eventually work as a public defender.

Though I hail from north Texas, I attended Principia College, a small liberal arts institution in Illinois. There, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English, with an emphasis in literary studies. As a student and Postgraduate Teaching Intern, I gained a great deal of tutoring experience in writing and literature. I took a rigorous training course to become a tutor for Principia's writing center my junior year, and thereafter served as a peer Writing Tutor, helping students with papers in a variety of subjects, for a year and a half. After graduating, I continued to tutor students writing literature papers as a teaching assistant for the College's English department for a year. Now that I'm back in Texas, running a small student residence near UT, I'm grateful that I get to continue tutoring! I absolutely love working with students and seeing them grow as writers and thinkers. I work from the basis that all my students are capable of successfully completing any task or assignment given to them, and I serve to share tools and strategies that will help them do so, while also showing them much support and compassion. When I'm not working, I'm most likely cycling, reading and writing at the park, or exploring new foods and places around town.

I love teaching and working with students and I take great satisfaction in watching their scores and confidence level increase as we continue to work together! I have tutored kids as part of a community outreach program. The children I've tutored have shown sharp improvements in their grades and understanding of substantive material. I find it incredibly rewarding.

I am passionate about helping students because I believe that it is incredibly important to learn how to take information from the classroom and apply it practically and critically to the world we all live in. By taking content learned in class and placing it in the context of real-life situations, all while collaboratively working with students, I believe students will not only be able to retain content better, but appreciate how such content informs the way we live, and how we can use that content to address and solve complex real-world issues.I studied at Florida International University, receiving two Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Religious Studies. I went on to receive a Masters of Science degree in Psychology, specializing in Mental Health Counseling. During and after my masters degree, I interned as a staff clinician, working to provide one-on-one mental health counseling services to children ages 6-18, as well as to college students attending FIU. After completing my internship, I made the decision to switch to pastoral counseling; Im currently in the process of completing a biblical counseling certificate, and currently serve as part of the pastoral care staff at my church. My experience working individually with students of various ages and helping them to understand complex concepts has honed many of the skills I take with me into tutoring. I currently tutor elementary, middle school, high school, and college students in various subjects, including reading in English, essay editing, psychology, religious studies, and geography.Apart from my academic pursuits, I love playing the piano and guitar, and singing; I particularly enjoy soul, R&B, and indie rock music. I also enjoy playing video games and addictively watching various TV shows.

I graduated from the College of New Jersey in 2007 majoring in History and Secondary Education. After graduation, I travelled extensively to see the country and world that I would one day be teaching about. After teaching English as a foreign language in the Republic of Georgia for a year, I returned home to my native New Jersey to enter the next phase of my life and career. I currently teach history and social studies at the high school level. I have always loved to teach and to discuss new topics with students.
