I recently graduated from Drexel University in June 2014 with a Bachelor's of Arts in English and a Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition and Food Sciences. Teaching was a core value reflected in the curriculum for both of my undergraduate majors. As a nutrition major, I was afforded the opportunity to teach nutrition education classes in underserved neighborhoods and elementary schools. As an English major, I took pride in helping fellow students and aspiring writers to refine their thoughts and ideas in essays and creative compositions alike. In my current position as a laboratory technician in a university setting, I work directly with students in a lab setting on a daily basis. I have worked as a teaching assistant for university-level microbiology courses and I also have expansive experience in writing, literary analysis, and reading comprehension, as I have composed original research in English literature, peer reviewed many of my colleagues' papers, and have served as an editorial intern for a published literary journal and as a weekly arts journalist for a local online publication.Since graduating from college and starting my primary occupation as a lab technician, I found that I have less opportunities to help students and to improve their writing and analytical reading skills, which is a profound passion of mine. Tutoring students in English literature and composition enables me to keep doing something that I love to do. In my spare time, I also enjoy painting, learning computer programming, baking, and reading anything and everything that I can.

Marine Biology Tutor • +1 Subjects
Hello! I am a recent graduate from Roger Williams University with a B.S. in marine biology and minors in psychology and theater. Currently, I am an intern with the National Marine Life Center where I help with animal rehabilitation and public education. My future goals are to go on to grad school and either research marine animal physiology or continue further with animal rehabilitation as a vet tech, while continuing with public education. While I have always loved the sciences, I've also enjoyed passing on what I've learned. I've had opportunities with public education through Grassroots Wildlife Conservation and now National Marine Life Center. In college, I was a chemistry tutor for three years and helped students get through the week's question set in a group setting. I have always found that when a student is given the right tools, they have always been able to arrive to the answer or the concept on their own. I try my hardest to be the one to provide the right tools. So whether you need help determining the difference between nudibranchs and nematodes or you need to know just what exactly is the deal with manatees, I'm your tutor!

Elementary Math Tutor • +21 Subjects
I am a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Master of Science in Animal Nutrition. I received my Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from Cornell University. While I tutor various subjects, I am most passionate about tutoring math and feel that our school systems often fail students when it comes to math. I do not believe that some people simply "can't do math." I believe that some may need extra time and help, but everyone can do math. With patience and hard work, any student can learn. I also enjoy tutoring Spanish, which I have studied since I was in elementary. During undergrad, I even studied abroad in Barcelona and lived with a host family. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, dancing, TV/movies, and knitting.

I am a certified early-education teacher (Preschool-G3) with 9+ years of experience teaching. My Masters Degree is in Reading Education (K-12) and I am TEFL certified as well. I received both my Bachelors and Masters degree from Ohio University and since then I have worked with every age level from 2 years and up, whether it be in the classroom or private classes and can teach a variety of subject matter. With a background in Fine Arts I love to incorporate the arts into my teaching whenever I can. Ive always had a passion for teaching and helping others learn and grow, as I myself am a lifelong learner, always striving to better educate myself. I find joy in the little moments, guiding students to discover their potential and self-worth.I tutor all subjects, and I especially enjoy tutoring reading and writing. The foundation to language and being able to express oneself is essential for success in the long run. I believe that the classroom should always be a place where the students feel comfortable to be themselves and ask questions. Curiosity is the key to growing and I try to create opportunities in which students can discover new interests and lead their own journeys, in which I am just there to guide them.Outside of teaching, I enjoy being outdoors- hiking, traveling, playing sports, yoga. I am passionate about the environment and sustainable living. I love expression through art and photography, as well as reading a good book or watching an independent film. I love to meet new people and believe that everybody you cross paths with teaches you something.

I am a graduate of Boston University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication with a focus on Public Relations and Advertising. After graduation, I worked for a few years producing the advertising for Broadway shows, before switching to a higher education role as an Academic Advisor at Columbia University. In this role, I counsel and advise both prospective and current students who are part of our Master's Program in Sports Management. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I always had passion for both English and Mathematics. I understand my work through systems, and tutor students to create the systems that work best for their own personal growth. Students learn to master their own work, and can continue to grow independently outside of the tutor sessions. In my spare time, I am a fan of Musical Theater - both as an audience member and occasional actor. I also run competitively and am currently training for the 2017 NYC Marathon.
