I am a fun, outgoing tutor with a passion to help others learn. My goal is to provide a positive learning experience that will last a lifetime. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I primarily grew up in San Francisco, CA and Austin, TX. I study and work in New York City as student at Columbia University. I am currently a senior studying Biomedical Engineering with concentrations in computer science and electrical engineering. I attended high school at St. Andrew's Episcopal School where I focused extensively on mathematics and science. My high school also nurtured strong discussion and writing skills. Although I was also involved in sports and musicals, I enjoyed participating in academic competitions, in which I could explore my engineering interests, such as Science Olympiad and TEAMS. In high school, I primarily tutored in biology, physics, and mathematics. Tutoring was my way to gain teaching experience and give back to my school. In college, for similar reasons, I currently work as a TA in computer science. I also conduct glaucoma research in a clinical research lab.My tutoring approach is very methodical; I identify and isolate issues, while imparting fundamental knowledge and problem solving tips. The key to mastering any subject-I believe- is the ability to identify and understand grey areas and edge-cases in the material. I help my students identify these critical questions and answer them to the best of my abilities. I will admit, however, when I don't know the answer to a question. Rather than mislead my students, I always prefer to research an answer or attack the question together. I help my students get to the bottom of things.

I believe that everyone can achieve academic successes under proper guidance. I'd like to be the light tower for my students on the endless sea of study. I want to help them to find their own ways to the right place. I will help my students to find their own way to solve problems on certain subject and master techniques of studying certain subjects.

As a recent high school graduate from The Lawrenceville School, I understand how stressful and difficult school can be, so my hope is to make learning easier for you! I will be attending Hamilton College in the fall with an intended major in biology. I scored a 1520 super score on the SAT. The breakdown was 720 EWR and 800 math.

Since elementary school, I knew I wanted to teach the littles when I grew up. I think that children are some of the most important people because they are our future, and I want to inspire students to work hard so they can succeed.

I have been a teacher for over 11 years and have tutored for many of those years also. I currently teach 4th grade in the inner city. I have degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, and I also hold my English as a Second Language certificate. Teaching is not only my profession but also my passion. I look forward to working with new students through this tutoring opportunity. I enjoy reading, coaching, spending time with my two sons and my husband, and cheering my students on at their after school activities in my spare time.

I am currently working on my Ph.D in Developmental and Educational Psychology at Boston College. Prior to BC, I received my graduate degree and training in Education from Harvard University. I have six years of teaching experience at the middle and high school levels, and I specialize in working with struggling students and students with learning/developmental disabilities.I make it a priority to meet my students where they are in their academic progress, and to work with them to set short-term and long-term goals. I prioritize working to develop logical and generalizable ways to address questions and problems, as this makes it easier to know which strategy can be used to solve them. I also work with students to learn about learning itself -- to understand the ebb and flow of knowledge acquisition and to take challenge and failure in stride. I value a growth mindset stemming from both hard work and having fun!

I am excited to be a tutor and help students understand subjects they are struggling in. I have a younger sister, so I have always helped her with homework. My teaching style is more hands-on with explanation; that way, the student has multiple ways to understand the material.I can easily relate to students because I am one, too. I understand that everyone learns things differently. I don't believe there is such a thing as a bad question. My main goal is for the student to understand the material and use it to his or her advantage.

My goal is to get my students to the point where they no longer need me. I like to focus on the underlying concepts so that students can apply what we learn in our sessions to problems they haven't seen before. After our sessions, my students should be able to have a concrete plan when attempting a new problem and be able to extrapolate their knowledge of concepts to master the details.

I am currently a senior at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and I am double majoring in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development and French. I am pre-med, so I do hope to go to medical school next year and am currently in the process of applying. I graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 2012, and there I was a member of the National Honors Society which was my first experience with tutoring. I am currently a volunteer at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, and I help patients and siblings with homework and reading there, as well.I am passionate about the life sciences and the French language, and I love helping others foster a deeper understanding in these two particular subjects! I also genuinely enjoy algebra and statistics and am quite the grammarian. From preschool to college, I actually loved going to school every day and learning, and I hope to bring that love to others, also! I spent the fall of 2014 in Montpellier, France, and there I worked on mastering the French language. When I am not studying, you can find me doing a puzzle, baking, reading, going for a walk, or watching the Blackhawks and the White Sox.
