During my time as a math tutor and a teacher candidate, I have come up with three core beliefs I want to adhere as a math tutor. First, I believe a tutor should be passionate about the subject they tutor. My love for math is a driving force behind my decision to tutor. I believe math can be fun and satisfying with the right mentality and mentor. I hope to inspire my students to find a love for math while working with me. Second, the tutoring session should be a safe and inclusive environment for students to feel comfortable to make mistakes. I plan to achieve this goal by having culturally responsive tutoring sessions where I can build relationships with my students free of biases. Finally, a good teacher inspires growth mentality. Often in mathematics we have a fixed mindset. We believe "I am bad at math". My goal is to shift this attitude to "I am not good at math YET". Students should feel encouraged to grow their math skills and feel empowered to keep going even if the work is challenging.

When I was 7, I discovered my dad's Nikon camera in his desk and shot a whole roll of film on nothing at all. For my punishment, he taught me how to use it. It turned out to be a life sentence.Within a year, I had amassed an impressive collection of photographs of Orlando theme parks from a unique vantage point three feet above the ground. In high school, I tirelessly studied the nuances of developing black and white film. Later, as a student at Virginia Commonwealth University, I enrolled, and excelled, in every photography course I could get my hands on. I turned heads and won awards.After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (the Photography major was not available at that time, but I minored in it and completed nearly twice as many credits as was needed), I joined the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and embraced one of the organization's core values of sharing information and fostering academic growth for the next generation of photographers. I opened a small studio and produced commercial work for local businesses and advertising agencies. I also conducted workshops for photography students who wanted to learn the intricacies of combining natural and artificial light. Over the years, I presented seminars on subjects as diverse as specialized lighting, multiple exposure, and product photography, to name a few.My Certified Professional Photographer status, issued by Professional Photographers of America, is current. I am also a member of ASMP and the Tampa Area Professional Photographers Association, and keep my knowledge base current with constantly-evolving techniques and trends.Turning the images in my head into photographs has been my life's passion, and the only thing I enjoy as much is helping others to do the same. I hold decades of experience and knowledge, and recognize that it needs to be shared. I believe in maintaining a relaxed learning environment, and adapt my approach to suit the student's cognitive styles and needs.

I'm a recent graduate from the University of Washington in Seattle, and I have just begun my Master of Teaching program at Gonzaga University, specializing in Secondary Spanish and Social Studies education. I have known that I've wanted to be a teacher since I was little, and tutoring gives me a great opportunity to practice my teaching skills in a personalized setting. I understand how challenging it can be to start learning Spanish in middle school or high school, since that's when I started learning it myself, but I have many effective (and fun!) techniques that make Spanish a breeze.

I provide career coaching and mentoring to emerging HR leaders and job applicants in career transition. To prepare for HR certification tests, I provide an individualized approach to instruction by first assessing each students' strengths and determining how I can help them grow and enhance their skills. I am a strong advocate for project-based experiences and challenging students to think through practical applications using case studies and research. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering with non profit organizations to provide pro bono HR assistance and leadership coaching. I also enjoy exercising and playing tennis with family and our spoiled rotten Airedale Terrier.

I attended Ohio Wesleyan University from 2010 to 2012, but disliked how few subject opportunities were offered at this smaller school.I transferred to UMass Amherst in 2012 for the first semester of my junior year. During the second semester of both my Junior and Senior year I was awarded Dean's List for academic achievement. Additionally, I was inducted into the National Latin Honor Society for continuous academic achievement in my Latin Classes.My coursework in Greek Mythology, Greek Literature, Ancient Technology, Etruscan History, Celtic Archaeology and Greek Civilization allowed me the opportunity to develop excellent research, reading, writing, editing and proofreading skills.I have worked multiple retail jobs in stores such as Guitar Center, Uptown Cheapskate, and The Art of Shaving. However, none of these jobs have allowed me to utilize the skills that I worked hard to develop during my studies in college. As a result, I have sought work opportunities that will allow me to share my love of learning with others.In my free time I enjoy listening to music, reading, watching movies and spending time with friends.
