I'm dedicated to helping students succeed and reach their full potential. I have a bachelor's degree and two master's degrees: one in Counseling and the other in Educational Administration. With 20 years of experience in education, I've worked across all grade levels, specializing in Middle and High school students. My areas of expertise include: Grades K-5: Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies Grades 6-8: Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies High School (Grades 9-12): Reading, Social Studies I have extensive knowledge and expertise in working with students in special education, helping to fill in learning gaps and differentiating instruction based on individual needs. I chose to become a tutor because I am passionate about helping my students thrive academically and personally. Building genuine relationships with my students is crucial to me, ensuring they know I care deeply about their success. I am a graduate of Prairie View A&M University and Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Legal Studies with a focus on pre-law. I received my Master of Arts in African American Studies. Since graduation, I have served with AmeriCorps, working in an under-resourced school; additionally, I've worked with adults in Manhattan looking to obtain their GED/TASC- I helped them prepare for their high school equivalency exam. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math and History. In my experience helping students gain better studying habits and organization always seems to help them with their overall school work. I believe education is important, and when gifted the right tools, success is inevitable. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling with friends and family, and volunteering.
I have been an educator for nine years. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Prairie View A&M University and I earned my Masters In Teaching Leadership at Lamar University.
Teaching others is something I enjoy the most. I believe that to become an excellent tutor one must have a desire to assist students in the learning process, and this is one quality which I feel I definitely possess.I have been tutoring students ages from 10-24 and SAT for 5+ years. I know how to get a student well prepared for any standardized test. I am well familiar with all the techniques to achieve a higher score. I am a graduate of Clark Atlanta University and Prairie View A &M University. I have a received my Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, with a speciality in writing & reading. Since graduation, I have taught writing and reading for 17 years and have been a school administrator for 4 years. I specialize in accelerated reading strategies and use data-driven interventions to assist in improving reading skills. I have an ESL supplemental certificatification, as well. My goal is to help readers improve their comprehension, develop a love for reading, and enhance their reading levels, fostering both confidence and a deeper understanding of the material. I am a graduate of Prairie View A and M University and I received my Bachelor of Science in the field of Chemical Engineering. After graduation i worked as a consultant for about 18 months and then decided to move towards teaching. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Mathematics and Physics. While in school and University I taught my fellow students and also helped students in grades lower than mine during lunch. While teaching Math I strongly emphasize on the concepts rather than working it out for the student. I am very fond of teaching and find it very relaxing given that the student feels comfortable with me.
