I am a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). I received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Conservation and Restoration Ecology. I have three years of tutoring students at my University over courses including Ecology, Botany, Zoology, Intro to Environmental Science, and Woody Plants. I also would tutor a family friend over topics from Algebra to Driver's Ed for a year. I lived in Paraguay for six months where I volunteered at a private school called English Place! Here I acted as a conversation partner and a reviewer for the many students who attended the school. I still teach a couple of the students through Zoom for free on my own time. While in Paraguay I was an Education Intern and would go with my coworkers to teach environmental and wildlife topics to children of various ages all in Spanish and a bit of Guaran. Returning to the States I have worked at UTSA again during the summer as a camp counselor and now work as an educator at a teacher substitution company called Scoot Education. Along with tutoring Paraguayan students, I also work as a Math tutor for Each One Teach One a San Antonio company working to help adults gain their GED or become fluent in English. I can teach many subjects, but favorites include any time of life science mostly about animals and evolution, or teaching ESL (I'm TESOL) certified or Spanish.

I am an experienced teacher, lover of languages, and taco enthusiast. Born and raised in Texas, I recognized the value of bilingualism from a young age, as well as my interest in teaching. Teaching high school Spanish to a mix of second language learners, heritage learners, and native speakers has allowed me to simultaneously experience two of the most beautiful moments in the world. The first is the "light bulb" moment, when a student grasps a difficult concept, and the second is what I like to call the "Hablas espaol?" moment, when an instant connection is formed with someone who immediately feels comfortable in the knowledge that you understand their mother tongue. I have been working in the field of education as either a tutor or a teacher since 2013. I have tutored and/or taught Spanish, English as a Second Language, and English writing skills. I graduated from Texas State University in 2016 with bachelor's degrees in Spanish and English, and from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2019 with my master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). During the 2016-17 school year, I had the opportunity to teach English in Spain on a Fulbright grant, which exponentially expanded my view of what it means to be a Spanish speaker in terms of linguistic variety and taught me the value of stepping outside of my comfort zone to learn more about other cultures. I also take advantage of every available opportunity to increase my knowledge of linguistics, language teaching and pedagogy, and Spanish as a heritage language. To this end, I served as the vice president of the Texas Language Education Research conference (TEXLER) in 2019, and participated in the 2020 NHLRC heritage language teacher workshop.
