I enjoy helping students of all ages feel confident and success. I have been helping teachers and students for almost 20 years! I have taught elementary, middle and high school math, including algebra and geometry.

I went to college initially not knowing what I wanted to do with my life; I came out a horticulturalist. I worked at a vineyard, owned by a family who then opened up a winery, so I then became a winemaker. I had a blast and was successful, but about five years into my career I had to stop and reevaluate my life. Was this really what I wanted?I was about twenty-four when I decided I wanted to really figure out what I wanted. It was difficult. I had to do some real soul searching. At twenty-five, I quit my job as a winemaker and moved back to Houston, close to my family. I toyed with a few different ideas, but I finally figured out what I really want. I want to teach.Since then, I have been enrolled as an intern with the Texas Teachers of Tomorrow program, working toward obtaining my teaching certificate to teach high school math. I am currently working as a substitute teacher for the Conroe school district. My personal teaching philosophy is that all students have the desire to learn, and it is our jobs as educators to facilitate and inspire and guide our students to achieve their success. I believe that trust, patience, persistence, and consistency are so important for creating the proper learning environment, one in which the student is not afraid to take risks in his or her learning.Math has always been my favorite subject, and I am looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm for math with y'all.
Hi, I'm Kyle Morgan. I am a senior at Sam Houston State University majoring in physics. I am also a swim instructor and have been coaching/teaching for 5 years.
Former high school teacher. Current English instructional coach. Part-time college instructor. After graduating college, I avoided my destiny and decided to go into the corporate world. After two years, I knew I could no longer outrun my fate; I accepted my first teaching position, and I have never looked back. I taught English I, II, and AP Literature and Composition during my tenure as a teacher. A few years ago, I was given the opportunity to leave the classroom and work with teachers. I work with our 26 high school English teachers to design and execute engaging curriculum for students. However, after a few years, I missed having my "own" students. I decided to put my Master's degree to use, and I began teaching Intro to Composition at my local community college. With my varied background, I am able to help students of all experience levels improve their writing skills and become effective communicators. I look forward to working with you.
I have 13 years of teaching that includes both the surrounding Houston areas and abroad in Chengdu, China for 5 years. Hello Scholars! My name is Evelyn and I am so excited for the opportunity to work with you. I have been an educator for over 15 years and before becoming an educator, I spent 6 years in the Army as an Air Traffic Controller. I have enjoyed the transition from soldier to educator and it is my mission to continue serving. I believe students are partners the learning process and that they learn best from educators who believe in building and maintaining positive relationships. I always strive to provide diverse, engaging, and thought-provoking instruction that motivates my scholars to achieve greatness and attain a life-long appreciation of learning.
I care about all students, and all I ever want to do is build the foundation of their education journey so that they feel confident and ready for the rest of it. I want them to feel successful and know that they can do anything they put their mind to, and watching them learn and grow is beautiful.
I've been an RN for over 6 years, with experience in the Operating Room and Medical ICU. I graduated from Sam Houston State University. I worked as an LVN prior to completing my BSN. I'm excited to tutor current nursing students as I feel like it's essential for current nurses to help up and coming nurses. I strive to be the resource that I wish I had when I was in nursing school. I'm always happy to help and want you to not only know the content but understand it.
Knowledge is power, how we obtain that knowledge is paramount to how we view learning, and school as a whole. As a former teacher who is now a practicing attorney with an MBA, I have a unique opportunity to tutor law, graduate, undergrad, and secondary school students in the various difficult subjects they need assistance with. In understanding the foundations of any subject, I am able to teach it in various ways that resonate with others, because not everyone learns the same manner or pace.
I'm a native Houstonian and received my BS from Sam Houston State University and my MPSA from Texas A&M Bush School of Government and Public Service. My mother was my first and most important teacher. I was home schooled until high-school and I'm sure I was not always the easiest student to teach. However, she never gave up on me and without her guidance and dedication I would never have succeeded in my high-school years and later when pursuing my higher-education. I've always been passionate about education and love the moment when students begin to ask questions or finally master a concept. I currently work for an education non-profit that focuses on college persistence with high-school students. I believe that all students have their own unique potential and passion to learn. It is important to tap into each individual students talent, help them excel, and make sure every student has the tools and opportunity to succeed at their goals.
I have a Bachelors in Psychology, and am working on a Masters. Additionally, I have years of experience in instructional settings, both in grade school presentations and in extracurricular activities.
Hi! I'm a college instructor in Fort Worth, Texas. I hold a BA in English from the University of Texas at Arlington, where I minored in Medieval and Early Modern Studies; and I also hold an MA in History from Sam Houston State University. I specialize in late antiquity and medieval history, but am familiar with all areas. In addition to studying history, I also do genealogical research and am a fan of comic books and pop culture. It's my primary aim to give students the tools they need to eventually progress on their own and become effective scholars in their own right.
Hi I'm Haley! I am a recent graduate from Sam Houston State University, graduating with a biomedical science degree with a 4.0 GPA. An education is an asset which cannot be taken from you no matter what life hands you. As an educator, it is my honor, privilege, and duty to work with every student that crosses my path and assist them in becoming the very best they can be and in living up to their fullest potential.
I am a recent graduate of Sam Houston State University. As an undergraduate, I was a teaching assistant responsible for teaching chemistry and microbiology labs. I believe each student is an individual and I adjust my tutoring style based on what works best for each individual. For example one child may benefit from visual learning while another student may learn best from a more hands on approach such as practice problems. I love helping students understand a concept that they previously struggled with. It gives you a good feeling to know that you have helped and could possibly have an impact on this child's or teenager's education experience. I absolutely love animals. I read in my spare time. I enjoy spending time with friends and family. If you feel that I'm the right tutor for your child, I'd be delighted to help.
I am a registered nurse in Central Texas with a unique academic and professional background: I earned my Bachelor's and Master's in history in 1999 and 2001, respectively. From 2002 to 2014, I taught introductory American History courses at the local community college.I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014 and my Master of Science in Nursing Education in 2019. Between 2014 and 2020, I worked in a variety of roles - as a staff nurse in the Cardiovascular ICU and Progressive Care Unit, and later as a nursing supervisor, manager, and clinical educator. All the while, the classroom was calling me back to academia. I missed that connection with my students, so I became a nurse educator in 2019. It felt amazing to help aspiring and new nurses meet their potential. Helping students connect with a subject that many of them struggled with was an absolute joy.As the pandemic raged on, I felt a pull back toward the bedside, so I became a staff nurse again in October 2021. I started tutoring as a way to continue helping students while also caring for patients.I take a holistic approach to tutoring NCLEX. I spend time getting to know my students: what they struggle with, how they've prepared in the past, where they'd like to focus their energy and time, and how they handle test anxiety. I then develop a tutoring plan to meet each person's individual needs. I teach content review, testing strategies, and in-the-moment stress-reduction techniques to help my students feel prepared as they go into the testing center.

I enjoy answering their 20 questions. As a child, I struggled in school. I believe this has made me who I am today, and why I care so much about all of my students. I understand their frustrations and their excitement.I believe every student is capable of learning, and I believe each student learns differently. I like to know my students interest so I can try to incorporate that into tutoring to make it fun.I look forward to working with you and your family!

For me the greatest reward as a teacher is watching my student's growth. Not only their maturity but seeing their creative confidence and problem-solving skills blossom.
I'm reminded of an old saying from the first Karate Kid movie. A quote by Mr. Miyagi when teaching Karate to Daniel."There is no such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher."I believe that's true for most teacher/student relationships, whether it's teaching Karate, English, or anything. The teacher has a profound influence on a student of any age, especially younger ones. That's why I am so passionate about teaching, and of students of all ages. The knowledge and experience I have obtained over the years should be handed down in a positive way so that in time, the student will be able to do the same thing. I love to see students succeed, not matter what the goal is needed no matter how big or small.I can remember one of my students who some time ago was preparing for a MS Word exam. She studied and came very close to passing on her first attempt. She did not give up, and on her second attempt she passed the exam with a much higher score. The look of excitement on her face and the feeling of achievement in her eyes made me feel so happy, because I did my job, and now she can move forward. This student was not a child, or a teenager, or even a person in their 30's and 40's. She is in her mid sixties, but she still felt a sense of accomplishment, and knowing that I guided her along the way is what satisfied me.The education I received helped her, and many other people, and it still helps others to this day.My educational experience includes:- Sam Houston State UniversityBA Marketing- The US Army-University of PhoenixMBA HR-My Computer Career IT CertsCompTIA A+ / Server+MTA Security, Server, Network.LPT Linux-ICT N. HoustonMS Word/Excel/PPT/Outlook/AccessI have been teaching these subjects and especially English for over 10 years. It all started in S. Korea as an ESL teacher, and now I teach at ICT N. Houston. Currently, I teach all MS certification prep classes, math, English, some accounting, science, and a few other things that come my way based on the students' needs. And when it comes to a favorite subject I like to teach; it doesn't matter. I will teach what the students need so they can achieve their goals. In conclusion, my teaching style is a bit of an older style, but hands on. The students will receive direction from me and then apply what they have learned for themselves with me helping and guiding them along the way. And as we work together, no matter the subject, we will achieve our goals.Thank you.

I am a graduate student at Sam Houston State University pursuing MS in chemistry and going to graduate in May 2016. I am looking forward to join graduate program at UT Austin to obtain PhD in chemistry. I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant and Tutor at SHSU for various chemistry courses. I have been tutoring these courses to the school and college level students for about five years in one-onone and small group settings. I enjoy tutoring GRE quantitative as well. My tutoring strategy is to show a path to the students so that they can think through the problems and solve them by building confidence in themselves. I believe that the role of tutor is to guide, to motivate, to develop curiosity and to help students to understand concepts with a goal of watching them succeed. 'In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn' has been my all-time favorite quote.

Or perhaps you prefer a broader, casual lesson on the central themes in chess? I'll accommodate to your wishes. I'm eager to help.

I have always had a passion for helping youth develop on all levels. I truly believe I was called to become a teacher and for so long, I ran from this. After finally learning that I could motivate the minds and create hope for students in the classroom as well as in life, I have made it my priority to touch as many lives as I possibly can. I taught for 4 years and realized that I have to make a greater impact and reach those that aren't getting their needs met, and now work with an educational nonprofit, and making strides daily to close the achievement gaps.
