Hello, my name's Bri Ayers. I'm 23 and am currently majoring in animation at Sam Houston State University with a minor in creative writing. I want my students to feel as though they're learning in their own time, not because the standards or other professors require them to learn something. In truly understanding what they're doing wrong and correcting the mistakes before they become habits, it will help students in the long run.

I taught high school level math classes for fourteen years plus an additional two years as a long term sub. I have taught college level math since 2008. I have much experience tutoring students both 1 on 1 and in groups, both at the high school level and the college level, and both during school time and on my own time. Students often ask to take my class again as they enjoy the way I teach and say they understand my teaching better than most teachers. I enjoy doing math and helping others to enjoy it as well.
My goal is to help students activate their prior knowledge and make new discoveries in the area of science. Students will receive a variety of instruction based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. Lessons are designed to help students build confidence and work independently, all while at their own pace. Students will have many opportunities to learn/do science in an inquiry-based hands-on environment; students aren't waiting for the teacher or someone else to provide an answer instead, they are seeking solutions, designing investigations, and asking new questions. Students are actively involved in making observations, collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing information, and drawing conclusions while developing useful problem-solving skills they will use throughout their life.
I have a Masters of Science in Finance and a Bachelors of Administration in Business Management and Accounting all from Sam Houston State University.I have taught and tutored students ranging from elementary to secondary and post secondary education. Having been a student I learned to appreciate the benefits that having a one on one tutor brings. As a result I love being able to pass my knowledge and experience on to others and providing the same personal attention that benefited me greatly. My favorite subjects to teach are English and anything that has to do with reading and reading comprehension. In addition, because of my educational background and job experience I enjoying subjects associated with accounting, finance and business including business writing.I prefer to read a book versus watch tv (P.D. James, John Grishom, Patricia Cornwell, Greg Iles). When tutoring I like to have fun. Sessions should be a good mix of seriousness to accomplish set goals as well as enjoyable to keep students interested and at ease.
I'm a native Houstonian and received my BS from Sam Houston State University and my MPSA from Texas A&M Bush School of Government and Public Service. My mother was my first and most important teacher. I was home schooled until high-school and I'm sure I was not always the easiest student to teach. However, she never gave up on me and without her guidance and dedication I would never have succeeded in my high-school years and later when pursuing my higher-education. I've always been passionate about education and love the moment when students begin to ask questions or finally master a concept. I currently work for an education non-profit that focuses on college persistence with high-school students. I believe that all students have their own unique potential and passion to learn. It is important to tap into each individual students talent, help them excel, and make sure every student has the tools and opportunity to succeed at their goals.
I am a dedicated and friendly educator, with a Bachelors in Journalism and Masters in Education. I have more than 15 years in education with a focus in math, from a tutor to a teacher to a teacher specialist. While I am generalist certified to tutor all subjects, I am very passionate about math especially, middle school math. I also love journalism and entrepreneurship. I am experienced in standardized testing prep, testing strategies, student engagement, and project-based learning. I look forward to creating successful scholars and making them love math. I believe, "That the best teachers teach from the heart, not from a book.!"
I'm reminded of an old saying from the first Karate Kid movie. A quote by Mr. Miyagi when teaching Karate to Daniel."There is no such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher."I believe that's true for most teacher/student relationships, whether it's teaching Karate, English, or anything. The teacher has a profound influence on a student of any age, especially younger ones. That's why I am so passionate about teaching, and of students of all ages. The knowledge and experience I have obtained over the years should be handed down in a positive way so that in time, the student will be able to do the same thing. I love to see students succeed, not matter what the goal is needed no matter how big or small.I can remember one of my students who some time ago was preparing for a MS Word exam. She studied and came very close to passing on her first attempt. She did not give up, and on her second attempt she passed the exam with a much higher score. The look of excitement on her face and the feeling of achievement in her eyes made me feel so happy, because I did my job, and now she can move forward. This student was not a child, or a teenager, or even a person in their 30's and 40's. She is in her mid sixties, but she still felt a sense of accomplishment, and knowing that I guided her along the way is what satisfied me.The education I received helped her, and many other people, and it still helps others to this day.My educational experience includes:- Sam Houston State UniversityBA Marketing- The US Army-University of PhoenixMBA HR-My Computer Career IT CertsCompTIA A+ / Server+MTA Security, Server, Network.LPT Linux-ICT N. HoustonMS Word/Excel/PPT/Outlook/AccessI have been teaching these subjects and especially English for over 10 years. It all started in S. Korea as an ESL teacher, and now I teach at ICT N. Houston. Currently, I teach all MS certification prep classes, math, English, some accounting, science, and a few other things that come my way based on the students' needs. And when it comes to a favorite subject I like to teach; it doesn't matter. I will teach what the students need so they can achieve their goals. In conclusion, my teaching style is a bit of an older style, but hands on. The students will receive direction from me and then apply what they have learned for themselves with me helping and guiding them along the way. And as we work together, no matter the subject, we will achieve our goals.Thank you.

I went to college initially not knowing what I wanted to do with my life; I came out a horticulturalist. I worked at a vineyard, owned by a family who then opened up a winery, so I then became a winemaker. I had a blast and was successful, but about five years into my career I had to stop and reevaluate my life. Was this really what I wanted?I was about twenty-four when I decided I wanted to really figure out what I wanted. It was difficult. I had to do some real soul searching. At twenty-five, I quit my job as a winemaker and moved back to Houston, close to my family. I toyed with a few different ideas, but I finally figured out what I really want. I want to teach.Since then, I have been enrolled as an intern with the Texas Teachers of Tomorrow program, working toward obtaining my teaching certificate to teach high school math. I am currently working as a substitute teacher for the Conroe school district. My personal teaching philosophy is that all students have the desire to learn, and it is our jobs as educators to facilitate and inspire and guide our students to achieve their success. I believe that trust, patience, persistence, and consistency are so important for creating the proper learning environment, one in which the student is not afraid to take risks in his or her learning.Math has always been my favorite subject, and I am looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm for math with y'all.
I am currently a 4th year medical student in Texas. Prior to my medical education I earned a Bachelors in Journalism from UT Austin and a Masters in Public Health from UT Health Science Center in Houston. In between all the school, I have been tutoring in various subjects, mainly grade school math and English as well as the sciences in all levels. I worked as a manager at a non profit organization that had a focus on educational success for Houston's immigrant and refugee students. I am a strong supporter that education should be easily available for everyone. It is the cornerstone of success and a good teacher can make all the difference.
I am a graduate of Sam Houston State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a focus on Veterinary Medicine. Since graduation, I have worked in a Title 1 district teaching Pre-K for 1 year and going on my 3rd year teaching second grade. I have also tutored grades 2, 3, 4, and 5, for the STARR test. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math. I have also receive "best school teacher" in my county. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for the next grade level and find learning fun and engaging. I am a firm believer that if students enjoy what they are being taught they will find retain information and be successful in life. In my spare time, I enjoy coaching cheer, as I was involved in that growing up and love watching others love for the sport grow.
As the son of a professional educator and as one who has enjoyed both teaching and learning as a lifelong passion, I believe that education has an intrinsic value as well as its ability to set students up for future success. Growing up, I had mild cerebral palsy and was mentored by some wonderful, supportive educators who instilled in me a strong self-esteem and the value of an education. My fifth-grade teacher, told me one day after I was quite frustrated with not being able to do some physical activities with the other children "You may never be able to go throw a football and run, but you have a brain, use it!" With that as my premise I now want to encourage students to use what they have to be able to achieve their maximum success.I actually began my tutoring career before I finished high school when I, somewhat accidentally began Tutoring a fellow student in my health class. I soon found out that I truly enjoyed helping others learn. Since then I have tutored while in college and when I have worked in mid management in grocery retail as I would help the high school and college students as they prepared for various classes and exams.I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History from Sam Houston State University and have completed 34 hours towards a Masters in Family Therapy from University of Houston Clear Lake.My favorite subjects to tutor are English, History, Social Studies, Special Education, Government and Economics. I have taught inclusion students in 6th grade Social Studies and the special needs students truly seemed to build a special connection with me as I also did with them. I also believe that there are natural correlations between the remaining subjects Social Studies is the study of various governments and this is covered in greater detail once students get into high school and study US Government and Economics. History (be in world, or United States), reaffirms lessons of the previously mentioned 3 subjects as well. Furthermore, in all these subjects, good reading and writing bis a necessity.
