Today, we went over most of his homework, this time working with quadratic equations and circles. The student understood parabolas pretty well, but had a harder time with circles. That being said, he learned how to complete the square in order to find the standard equation of a circle. He said he has a quiz on Thursday that he is a bit nervous for, but I think he'll do fine.

We covered projectile motion in preparation for his test. The student is making the right steps towards analyzing the problems correctly, but he still needs to put in a significant amount of time to ensure that he fully grasps the material. I told him to use the website videos to delve deeper into the subject matter. He needs to make sure that he studies the material more before his test this week.

The student is taking a college algebra course, but it is fast-paced and she's challenged by some of the concepts. She has a quiz on Thursday and needs extra help understanding the material and developing her problem solving skills. We started by working on the problems on the study guide. We were able to review most of the concepts involved, such as the slope-intercept equation of a line, and the sum of the angles within a triangle.

Tutoring review by Simon in Clementon, NJ
We specifically went over some geometry problems and a few algebra problems. The biggest struggle in the Writing section seems to be matching singular and plural articles to their accompanying nouns. In math, we discussed giving problems that look challenging a second look before leaving them blank, because sometimes all that is needed is a redrawing or an algebraic simplification to make a seemingly hard problem easier. In preparation for Saturday's test, I assigned the student a full practice test, including the essay and the bubbling in of answers.

Tutoring review by Jonah in Clementon, NJ
We went over conservation of momentum and impulse. We went over problems in the student's review packet. Most problems dealt with collisions of two objects and calculating the final velocity. I introduced him to a new set of equations. He seemed confused in solving questions with 2 objects with one moving and another at rest. I will emphasize this next time. Although he is doing well in his Algebra, he is slow in making a connection between physics problems and his algebra skills. He can make the connections if I remove units or change the variable from say 'v' to 'x.' We will work more on this next session.
