I am a Rice University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Sciences and a minor in Spanish. In the fall, I plan on beginning a master's in Human-Computer Interaction at University College London. I have extensive experience helping students with Math, Writing, Spanish, and the ACT. My primary goal as a tutor is to develop increased academic confidence and independent problem solving skills. In addition to tutoring, I enjoy running, playing piano, going to the beach, and learning new languages.

I am a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelors of Arts in English and Philosophy. At Notre Dame, I worked as a tutor at the University Writing Center, helping both undergraduate and graduate students with their writing. I also tutored local middle school students in reading and writing to prepare them for standardized tests. I had the opportunity to live in Spain for 6 months, where I became fluent in Spanish and developed a love for tutoring English language learners. Since graduation, I have worked with students at Midtown Educational Foundation and other extracurricular programs, and am currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching English. I tutor a wide range of subjects, although I am most passionate about English, Spanish, and Writing. I am currently working on publishing my honors senior thesis on Antarctic ice sheet dynamics in a scientific journal. Outside of academia, I enjoy performing as an actor on the stage and screen. I am passionate about carrying artistic endeavors alongside academic pursuits. I tutor a wide array of academic subjects, and I am most excited about tutoring students in Earth Science, writing and reading skills, Algebra 2, Calculus at all levels, and Physics. I also enjoy tutoring for the ACT and AP exams (humanities and sciences). As a tutor, I am dedicated to effective scientific communication; I believe strong written and oral communication are as essential to the sciences as the mathematical and scientific concepts at the core of each scientific discipline. I was born and raised in Miami FL and went to public school until college (Sunset Elementary, GW Carver Middle and Coral Reef Senior High for those from Miami). I decided to start tutoring because I would not be on this path had I not had good teachers supporting me along the way. For that reason I want to be able to help others achieve their goals without academics being a huge hurdle.

During my undergraduate career, I spent my junior year as an exchange student at the University of Puerto Rico taking classes in Spanish linguistics, business Spanish, American Foreign Policy, and Constitutional Law. I later studied law for a year and a half and then attended the University of California Los Angeles, where I received a graduate certificate in Spanish Interpretation & Translation.

I am currently a PhD candidate at Northwestern University, studying microbiology and public health (my two biggest passions). I received my Bachelor of Science with high honors from Emory University in 2011, where I double-majored in Biology and Spanish. During my time at Emory, I studied abroad in Australia working on barrier reef and rainforest ecology, and studied in Spain mastering my Spanish language skills. I can read and write Spanish with high proficiency and have tutored Spanish speakers, and received highest scores on the AP Spanish exam with listening. My favorite academic subjects are math and science, and I have received perfect scores on a variety of standardized math exams, including SAT I math, SAT II math IIC subject test, BC calculus AP exam, and the GRE quantitative exam. In addition to tutoring mathematics at all levels, I enjoy tutoring grammar and mechanics, and editing essays. I received the Carlos C. Rojas Excellence in Writing Award from Emory University, and have served on the editorial board for Emory University's undergraduate research journal, as well as have authored peer-reviewed manuscripts at Northwestern University. I have lectured to undergraduate students at Northwestern University in cell biology, and have taught English as a Second Language (ESL) in both a classroom setting and one-on-one.
