I am a sophomore at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I am focusing on fashion design and experimenting with photography, fibers, sculpture, and ceramics. In my free time I love to read; be outdoors; hike; play with my two dogs, Skippy and Lily, and my cat, Gracie; and watch crime shows and horror movies. I graduated from Northwestern University and received a Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude in with departmental honors History and Political Science. I then got my Masters in Teaching, and have spent 8 years teaching middle school. I also was a Fulbright Scholar.While in college, I tutored in a local elementary school, working with kindergarten, second grade, and fifth grade students throughout my time there. I worked with these students in small groups and individual settings and tutored them in a variety of subjects, including math, reading comprehension and fluency, writing, handwriting, social studies, and science. I am an aspiring Organizational Psychologist whose goals are to continue to consult start-ups and SMB's accomplish their missions and eventually earn a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from a top-tier Business School.

For the past two decades I have dedicated my time, my efforts, and my research to improving the learning experiences for elementary aged children. I have also assisted high school students in their writing so they are better prepared when they enter college. I believe education can be empowering and can elevate individuals as high as they want to go. I spent 15 years as an elementary school teacher, 6 years as an adult education teacher, and for the past year and a half I have taught pre-service teachers at the collegiate level. I am an experienced educator who uses this experience coupled with research to provide students with the best options needed to help improve their status as a student. I am currently working on my doctorate in curriculum and instruction, continuing to find the best ways to better the learning experience for students.

As a graduate from the Professional and Technical Writing Program at Chicago State University, I have become an expert in all aspects of writing and English. While at Chicago State University, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in English, with a specialization in Creative Writing.My education after graduate school consists of a Post-Masters Certificate in Education, focusing on College Teaching. Also, I am expected to graduate in August of 2016 with a PhD in Education and Professional Studies from Capella University.Currently, I hold two state certifications in education: a Language Arts/English teaching license for 5th-12th grade from Indiana and a Substitute Teaching license for K-12th grade students issued by Illinois. I've also successfully passed the Praxis II content area exam for English, Language, and Literature.I have three years of teaching experience, one at the collegiate level and two at the secondary level. I tutor all areas of English and Writing, Social Studies, and Test Preparation. My favorite subject to tutor is Reading. I am intrinsically motivated in my career, and I receive the most satisfaction when students that I serve exhibit growth. Not only do I tutor students, I build confidence in them and motivate them to reach new heights.
