I currently teach AP environmental science and I have taught biology and chemistry. I know certain science subjects can be challenging but I feel that taking a hand on approach to science is the best way to understand the material. I am in my 29th year of teaching. I currently teach 8th grade English. Before teaching, I was an undergraduate student at Baylor University in Waco, TX. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Music Education in 1994 (I was a violin major). Several years down the road in 2007, I decided to go through the Master's program offered by PISD at the time, and I graduated with a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.My philosophy of teaching is to value the commitment of being an educator in all its glory. While my students may not remember their parts of speech, they will; however, remember how I made them feel in my classroom. Thus, one of my primary objectives at the beginning of each school year is to build relationships with both my parents and my students, because students don't learn from teachers they don't like!

I am a graduate of New Mexico State University. I received my PhD Degree with a focus on Engineering and Math. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively, tutoring students of different ages and different academic levels looking to improve their Engineering and Math knowledge.. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Engineering, Calculus, Trigonometry, Geometry, Linear Algebra and Algebra. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) prepping for the Critical math and science portions of the exams. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, yoga, running, and tennis.

I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English. Since graduation, I have worked in Early Childhood Learning Centers, Teaching Prek-1st grade and working online as an ESL tutor and student success coach. I have my TEFEL certification and have really enjoyed meeting students all over the world. I have experience tutoring reading, ESL and Elementary K-3rd grade math online. I am most passionate about teaching reading and phonics. I love helping students learn how to read and watch them grow into more fluent and confident readers. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with my husband and two sons.

I graduated from Elon University in May, 2022. I received a Bachelor's degree in International Business with a German focus. I also received a degree from the Fine Arts department focusing on dance. I was born in Germany, lived there for six years, and am now a dual citizen of the U.S.A. and Germany. My junior year I enrolled in Heidelberg University to take courses with native speakers. I have a great passion for teaching and have taught German to High Schoolers in the Chicagoland area. Where I used my knowledge from having scored a 5 on the AP test to help other students. Sharing my personal knowledge of the culture enriches the language learning process. I seek to bring this to all my students. I am currently a professional dancer with a focus in ballet and contemporary. I also love painting, yoga, cooking/baking, and going for walks in nature.

I have a BS degree in mathematics from Temple University, and I am passionate about math. In fact, to say I am passionate is something of an understatement. Math is the most beautiful thing in the universe, and I want open everybody's eyes to this deep and wonderful truth. Math is something to be enjoyed. I believe that while knowing the formulas and procedures is important, memorizing mathematical formulas without appreciating the concepts is akin to memorizing the lines of a Shakespeare play without paying attention to the underlying prose.My strongest subjects are linear algebra and pre-calculus though I am proficient at tutoring all high school and college underclassmen mathematical subjects.I hope that my passion is contagious and that all of my students leave me not only having learned the material but understanding the beauty and wonderment of it all.

I am a credentialed Language Arts teacher. My area of study focused on literacy and education which granted me the chance to study how people interact with new information, acquire new skills, and value the kind of learning they are being asked to undertake. I have worked as a tutor for students ranging from elementary through adult in subjects ranging from basic math and reading skills to ACT and SAT test preparation. Tutoring is such a unique opportunity to apply what I know about teaching and learning in the most effective way. I enjoy helping a student gain confidence, knowledge, and efficacy in any subject. Each student learns a little differently and I enjoy finding out how to best facilitate learning for the individual student and to help him or her achieve the learning goals desired. I learn how to best help a student by listening to and observing the student. Each student teaches me how to be the teacher he or she needs.I attended George Washington University in D.C. and California State University of Chico. While at GWU, I studied international affairs, German, and eastern European literature. As I mentioned, I studied language and literacy at CSUChico. I taught high school English in northern California for 3 years.I also speak Portuguese. I acquired that while I was an exchange student in Brazil for a year through the Rotary Club's program for high school students. I have traveled quite a bit and enjoy experiencing new cultures and environments.My interests also include environmental sciences, macro-biology, hiking, camping, and agriculture. I have always studied and enjoyed interacting with nature. My mother was a biologist and I have a good amount of knowledge about biology ranging from soil science to the specific flora and fauna of a region.

I first started tutoring students my second semester of college on the campus in the Spanish department. I also obtained tutoring from the French department where I learned many different techniques of tutoring. Thanks to the students I have tutored, I am now able to think of many new ways to teach students since everyone have a unique way of learning.Outside of tutoring I like to spend time with my friends, surrounding myself with great company and engage in adventurous activities.
