I recently (semi-)retired from the I.T. industry after 40+ years - the last 20 years or so I have been in consulting work. I have always enjoyed teaching/tutoring and looked forward to working with junior engineers to get them "up to speed". Now, I am looking forward to making tutoring part of my daily routine.Back in the day, I was an undergrad at Harvey Mudd College (Claremont, CA). and grad student at UC Berkeley. Fast forward 40+ years and my wife and I are living in Maple Grove MN (20 miles NW of Minneapolis). In addition to tutoring and working some part time consulting gigs, I love spending time with my 2 grandkids, and my three grown kids.As an undergraduate student, I tutored engineering and math courses in walk-in 'help' sessions. My subjects were math (calculus I and II, and systems engineering.) As a graduate student, I taught computer programming for peers in my graduate program. The purpose was to share knowledge with my peers so that they could complete computer programming assignments as required in their class work. At the graduate level, I also worked with my Professor in designing and implementing statistically based choice modeling programs using complex mathematical algorithms.Professionally I have mentored numerous entry level engineers in both hard and soft work skills to succeed on their job. The mentoring was primarily technology related (computer science and math topics), but frequently communication skills were discussed, which are so important on the job. I learned a lot about tutoring through the opportunity to mentor over 40 years of professionalwork. This was something I truly enjoyed, and was instrumental in my decision to tutor after I retired from full time work.I have a special love of mathematics and continue to teach myself advanced topics to this day. I am still proud of placing 3rd in the State of Arizona math challenge for high school juniors - and "math is fun" has been part of my life ever since. One of my greatest thrills was working with my son through his high school years to prepare him for advanced placement as a math major in his undergraduate work. In the meantime, I keep fresh on my math skills by working problems - including trig and calculus- on a weekly basis. (And YES!, it is for fun too).I look forward to sharing my love of learning with my students!

I'm a PhD student at the University of Notre Dame. I received my MS in Physics from Notre Dame while pursuing my PhD. I tutor Physics and a variety of Math subjects. While in undergrad, I offered tutoring to both individual students, and to large groups. As I moved into grad school, I continued to tutor one-on-one with students of all levels.I love teaching and tutoring students to help them achieve that "I get it!" moment. It's my hope that I can share my love of science and math with struggling students, and help them not only to succeed, but to understand what it is that makes these subjects fascinating.

I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Master's of Science degree in Occupational Therapy with a specialization in education. I also have taken extra college classes in Mathematics and Science to further my education. I worked for a few years on the clinical side of Occupational Therapy, and then my career path took a new direction. I got involved in a tutoring program for students at the K-12 level. I loved it immediately; I had found my true passion: working with and helping children. I started teaching students in various environments and to students of all levels.I have assisted teaching in a school, substitute taught for grades k-12 in all subject areas, tutored at a center for kids with special needs, tutored on-one-on in homes, taught lessons in an after-school program, and managed a team of tutors. I have tutored the subjects of Mathematics, Science, Reading, English, Writing, History, Spanish, and ACT/SAT Preparation. I have also been in a director role for an after-school program for three years. My true passion is working with children and helping them to feel confident, excited about learning, and positive about their futures. I believe allowing students to interact through auditory, visual, and tactile systems gives them a deeper understanding of their environments and the material presented to them.In the past, I have been able to learn from my students, laugh with them, teach them and advise them. I have always worked hard to overcome obstacles presented to me in my life, and I would love the opportunity to help other students to have this perspective as well. In my free time, I like to teach yoga, practice Pilates, and dance. I love to read, snowboard, and walk/bike along the beach.

I am a professional math tutor and am currently the Lead Math Tutor at San Jacinto Community College. I tutor all levels starting from Middle School up to higher level college Math (Cal III). I really enjoy helping students become successful in this area of study! I have approximately 5 years of prior experience which helps me when assisting students with Math. I know how to break problems down by using short cuts and other "math tricks' that will help most students understand the material at hand. My youth gives me the biggest advantage because I can relate with students in high school and college levels very well. I take pride in helping all students in Math and really enjoy seeing them succeed in the subject that is most known as toughest course they will ever have to take in their educational career. My fail-to-pass ratio is steadily increasing with present clients & I plan to keep it going for years to come! Please feel free to ask me any questions & I will be happy to give you the best advice & assistance possible.
