I have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree from Johns Hopkins University. I am passionate about learning and I am continuously working to improve my skills. While working with you, if there is a topic that I am not very familiar with, I will research it and come up with the best way to present it to you. Education has always been at the center of my life. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech, then went on to study Mathematics at the graduate level at the University of South Florida. Later, I completed a degree in Educational Leadership, which allowed me to combine my love for teaching with strong expertise in tutoring for exams such as the PRAXIS and FTCE. I began tutoring many years ago, and it quickly became one of the great joys of my career. I truly love everything about schoollearning, teaching, and being part of the academic journey. As a high school math teacher, I taught a wide range of subjects, from Algebra to AP Calculus, and I've carried that same versatility into my tutoring work. My goal is always to break down difficult concepts into clear, understandable lessons while keeping students engaged, confident, and never overwhelmed. Beyond teaching content, I focus on building strong connections with my students. I believe that when a student feels comfortable asking questions and isn't afraid to say, "I don't understand," real learning happens. I create a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere that fosters curiosity and growth. Over time, I've also developed a wealth of test-taking strategies, which I share as needed to help students manage anxiety and approach exams with confidence. I have completed Master's coursework and research in the field of Educational Psychology, with a focus in Gifted Studies. I tutor many subjects, but I really enjoy teaching various math courses, Advanced Placement, History, and Language Arts. I have worked with students of all ages, from Pre-K to adults returning to education. I have a great deal of experience writing curriculum and tutoring test prep for SAT, ACT, ISEE, STAAR, and AP tests. Additionally, I have a strong passion for working with students who need support in applying for college (applications, essays, etc.). After studying abroad and 6 years of study, I have a strong interest in the French language and culture that allows me to provide tutoring for students taking French courses. In my experience as a tutor since 2013, I have cultivated a variety of tutoring strategies and methods to adapt to each student's individual needs. I feel that the key to helping a student master a subject is to start small, set goals, and find a method of learning that works best for them. In addition to my role as a tutor, I am also a substitute teacher and volunteer as a mentor with underprivileged middle and high schools. The majority of my free time is spent with my family. I love to help students use their logic and problem-solving skills in order to advance their learning ability to a higher degree more efficiently. While learning how to apply these skills in real life situations using both math and science topics, respectively. I like to tailor lesson plans and study strategies to that particular student (as we are all unique) to ensure each student understands the concepts completely.
