Tutoring review by Tracy in Glassboro, NJ
Today the student worked on trigonometry topics from Chapter 8 of her geometry textbook. She has a test on these topics tomorrow. Specifically, we reviewed the rules for special right triangles (45-45-90 and 30-60-90), using trig ratios (sin, cos, tan) to solve for missing sides and angles of right triangles, the law of sines, and the law of cosines. I gave her a basic overview of each concept and had her try several problems using each concept. Her algebra skills are good, and she can solve equations well once she knows how to begin the problem. She will study the rules we discussed for her test tomorrow.

Tutoring review by Daniel in Glassboro, NJ
Sunday and today we worked on dividing fractions into decimals, changing mixed numbers to improper fractions, changing improper fractions to mixed numbers, adding, subtracting, multiplying fractions, and finally reducing fractions. On Sunday, we went through various procedures on how to solve various fraction problems. On Tuesday, the student did a good job remembering the procedures and solving the problems. He just needs additional practice with the procedures so he can continually do them with higher accuracy and speed. In his next session, I will review fractions and help him with his current homework. I have also advised his mother to let me know if anything else should be taught during the session.

We went over some homework the student has due soon. The focus was on regression analyses and interpreting the results for them. By the time we went over the problems and interpreted the output for several analyses, the student seemed confident that he would be able to do it on his own.

Tutoring review by Laura in Glassboro, NJ
Today was the student's last tutoring session before his test tomorrow. He seemed excited to have this under his belt. We worked on RUNNERS strategies for his reading comprehension for two different passages, and I could tell that he was more successful on the questions that he used the strategies for. When some of the higher level thinking questions were presented, his choice showed he needed to slow down and really consider what each answer meant and what the best choice was. We also reviewed synonyms and writing tips. I think he is prepared, and I wish him the best of luck!
