I am a college graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering. During my four and a half years of undergraduate education at the University at Buffalo, I tutored students at a math learning center on campus. Before starting, I took a tutoring certification course with Crossroads of Learning. Since then, I have tutored in both one-on-one and group settings. I have tutored many subjects in mathematics including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I am very passionate about learning, and believe that each student is capable of learning any subject that they desire to learn. Because I love learning so much, I enjoy being able to be a part of the process for students that happen to struggle in certain subjects. I understand that every student has a different learning style. I try to discover what methods work best for each student I tutor, and I tailor my teaching style to that particular student's needs. In addition to mathematics and puzzles, music is a large part of my life. In my free time, I write music. I play the guitar and banjo, as well as read and write poetry. Since graduating, I have been working as an intern at a recording studio in Manhattan. While there, I learn about the very intricate arts of recording and mixing.

To bridge the gap between confusion and knowledge through novel approaches which aim to make mundane material easy to grasp to anyone. I have a background in Finance and accounting, a masters in supply chain, and have completed an MBA.
I graduated from Shaker High School in 2015 and have since moved on to the University at Buffalo. Here, I am pursuing a mechanical engineering degree and will be going into my junior year as of fall 2017. I have experience teaching and tutoring students at an after school program I volunteered at in downtown Buffalo. I also have helped to explain and teach concepts to many other fellow engineers at my university. I feel comfortable tutoring the subjects within the realm of math and science, specifically the topics that lend themselves to mechanical engineering. Physics based subjects are definitely the most rewarding for me to teach because I feel I have a good understanding of how they work and apply to the real world and I really enjoy showing others these connections. This leads into my main teaching philosophy which is, if you commit yourself to fully understanding a topic you will never feel lost on a test. Many people try memorizing formulas which I personally find tedious and a waste of time in some cases. However, if you truly understand the fundamentals behind the formulas then you will be much more equipped with the knowledge needed to pass your exams and work through the trickier questions. When I find the time to do something outside of school related activities I enjoy woodworking and hiking. In the next few years I hope to hike the 46 highest peaks in New York, thus becoming an official Adirondack 46er.
I'm Dr. Zurisaday Moreno, a native Spanish speaker from Cuba with a PhD in Spanish am passionate about helping students grow in their love for the Spanish language, literature, and culture. Hi, my name is Eric! I received my Masters in Architecture graduate degree from the University of Buffalo. I have a background in construction, maintenance, and customer service, paired with a strong mechanical aptitude. I have also worked as an administrative assistant.I love connecting with students of all ages and sharing my passion for learning, technology, and education. My experience in the IT field pushed me to develop a great sense of patience and understanding for individuals who might be struggling or frustrated. I find it very rewarding to dig into a problem, provide an explanation, and watch a student or individual get excited or relieved as they have a light bulb go off. My goal is to put students at ease, help them gain comfort with material, and build confidence along the way.
I graduated from Harry S. Truman high school in 2015. I am currently studying Chemistry at the University at Buffalo, where I am planning to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry. I am fairly experienced working with grade school and high school students in their math and science classes. When I was in those grades, I would assist the teacher by tutoring their students who are struggling in the class, whether that's just help with their homework or and extensive review of the material we learned in class. I also helped many of my peers prepare for the New York Regents exams. I helped them prepare for the Chemistry, Trigonometry, Geometry, and Algebra Regents. These along with basic math and science concepts are my favorite to help students because these are the subjects I excel at. These subjects interest me the most and I hope to use these subjects in my future field of work.I can teach in many ways and will always adjust my style to fit the students needs. I do tend to teach in way that allows the student to learn their own process of thinking while using me a resource if they are having trouble. I like to do this by facilitating the student through practice problems without giving any real answers. This allows the student to understand the material as well as build their confidence to tackle a problem all on their own.Outside of school, I like to do many to unwind such as go for a run or some form of exercise. I enjoy drawing, reading, and even video games. I always like to learn about new hobbies to keep me from ever being bored.
I have been called a professor, a teacher, a tutor, and a coach; but I prefer to be known as an educator. In each of these roles that I've played what remains most important to me are the lessons that transcend the subject. While a passing grade or a high score is a laudable accomplishment, I believe real praise should be reserved for the process. In my view, approaching a task with integrity constitutes a greater victory than any possible result. Self-reliance, a positive attitude, the benefits of practice, being responsible: these lessons enable students to succeed in both an immediate and long-term sense. These are the lessons that will empower students to better themselves in the classroom and outside of it. If I do my job correctly, my students will come to recognize that they do not need me to accomplish what they've set out to do.I have the pedigree to teach at the highest levels. I have a doctorate in Comparative Literature, I have been an instructor at the university level for eight years, I have taught internationally, and I have assisted students of all ages in everything from physics to philosophy. It has been a great privilege to have the opportunities that I have had to develop myself within this vocation. I believe, however, that my qualifications would mean little if they were not complimented by a passionate dedication to education. I feel honored to be placed in a position to help people grow, not simply as students, but as citizens of this world.
I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea until I moved to the U.S. at the age of 19 to attend the State University of New York at Buffalo (University at Buffalo). I received my Bachelor of Arts in Media Study with a focus on Film & TV Production. Before graduating, I started my own film production company, where I've created music videos for various artists and commercials for such brands as Nike and Lotus Cars. I have also taught English in South Korea for two years. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Korean, and Filmmaking. I truly believe learning a language should be approached with the right amount of academia and the hands-on experience; I will provide a practical environment where students can learn the Korean culture, history, and expressions that they can't learn from the books. As I am extremely knowledgable in Entertainment industry both in America and South Korea, the entire class could be taught in Korean with such topics as K-CULTURE, K-POP, K-Drama, and K-Beauty. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, watching movies, and playing board games.
My goal is to help all students reach their academic goals by providing encouragement, assistance, and my professional experience in education. I believe all students should have the opportunity to perform academically to the best of their ability, given the proper tools and resources. I feel honored to guide students towards success!
As a tutor, I am a well of diversity; academically, as an experienced educator from two distinct educational systems first with the British system back in Ghana and presently American system, I come with innovative and fresh approach to learning which will be of a great value to share with my tutees. Besides, I come from humble beginnings, which helped mold me into a steadfast, goal oriented and highly adaptive without losing my identity. These qualities fostered a driving force that saw me through GED, college, Post baccalaureate and currently medical school. My life purpose is that of labor of love, to give back to communities that are in dire need for affordable healthcare and health education. It was this passion that made me become an ambassador for Mentoring in Medicines Community health program where I was able to partner up with equally passionate health care providers to educate impoverished communities about safer healthier lifestyle. I strongly believe when it comes to health; Preventive measures are always a better alternative health care we can offer ourselves. As an AmeriCorps National Service alumni, I had the unique opportunity to provide health education on a broader scale to varying communities. I was able to combine my love for teaching and medicine to engineer emergency relief campaigns to provide immediate aid to victims of hurricanes. I also had the single honor to work with Project Reach Youths high school students who were mostly from battered homes. Once again, my past experience with abuse and openness to share made me a trusting companion for my students to open up to and so I was able to break barriers and was able to help them academically as well as emotionally.Nothing happens by accident as far as I am concerned.I am woman with a life purpose driven by love, compassion, optimism, patience and determination. I learnt from my experiences that it takes more than smarts and desire to venture into any academic path. I have endured countless rejections, setbacks, disappointments but I have also met great pioneers and motivators who have urged me to push forward. I am also honored to report that I am trendsetter in my family; The first to earn a Bachelors degree and also the very first of my entire family to receive any graduate level education let alone a medical profession. Now, we have two college graduates in my immediate family; my younger brother and me.In summary, my vision in life is very simple; to inspire hope in hopeless situations and I ultimately want to be that positive change I want to see in this world. Hopefully, do it with some class, humor and dignity.
Definitely no stranger to academia, I have a Bachelor Degree in Linguistics from Carnegie Mellon, a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from University at Buffalo, and a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University. I have over a decade of tutoring experience and pride myself in really connecting with my students' learning styles and aspirations. My main strength as a tutor is in the maths, but I can also offer exemplary essay editing advice and my engineering background is comfortable giving computer programming assistance as well.

I am very excited to have the chance to work with students preparing for the PSAT, the SAT, or the LSAT! While I'm originally from Connecticut, I attended college and law school in Buffalo, New York. While there, I worked for a test prep agency helping students prepare for the SAT and the LSAT. In 2003, I moved to Richmond. I worked with the Virginia Department of Taxation for 7 years doing policy work and assisting with the legislative process. In 2011, I began working for Bryant and Stratton College, where I taught students in the Paralegal Studies program. I loved helping my students prepare for new careers. I can't wait to work with you and help you succeed as well!

My teaching philosophy centers on meeting students where they are and helping them build
I began tutoring when I was a college sophomore, as a way to reinforce my own coursework. I quickly realized what an enjoyable and rewarding experience being a tutor can be, and I have tried to include teaching in my weekly routine ever since. I believe that every student has the capacity to fully grasp any subject that they put their mind to, and it is the job of the tutor to discover the right way to frame and phrase the material at hand so that it can stick. Each student represents a unique challenge, and every improvement is an accomplishment shared between the tutor and the student. I truly enjoy helping others in their studies, and I appreciate the opportunity to improve my own understanding at the same time.I graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a BS in both Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, and most of my experience has come from tutoring other students at the same school. My favorite topics to teach have been college-level math and science courses, as well as beginning engineering courses. I like to continually reinforce the fundamentals that I have used in higher-level courses and in industry, and I enjoy discussing the applications of those fundamentals with students who may not have seen them before. I have also spent some time tutoring middle and high school math and science, and that has been a rewarding experience as well..
I want to provide students with a rich learning experience by providing them the opportunity to freely experience themselves without judgement and the chance to see practical real world applications of math!
I graduated from college quite a long time ago but my own kids, and current students too, see me as a fun person and a kid at heart. One of the hardest things for a teacher to be able to do is relate to kids and their issues. Students can easily tell if a teacher genuinely cares or is just going through the motions of teaching. All my students know I care and they give me maximum effort in return. Before I became a teacher I was actively engaged in my own children's education. I home-schooled them for many years while running my own engineering and marketing businesses from home. My own children are either in their final years of high school or in college. My children would always tell me how great I was at teaching and I should do it full time. I finally listened to them and now enjoy every day of work. I am the head of the math and science departments at a small private school in The Woodlands. It is a wonderful school but the small size has its own challenges. I am in charge of curriculum development which can be time consuming. I have to design the curriculum to be interesting, challenging, and productive. There is no one way to teach a concept. Through the use of practical examples, multimedia, specialized worksheets and study materials, the subjects are covered without the normal objections by the students. Every day we are learning but having fun while doing it.Outside of school I like to work on cars, electrical design, and fixing anything that's broken. I also like to read textbooks, watch movies, and cook for my family. I let them do the dishes though.I'm looking forward to being your childs tutor. I'll give them 100% and hopefully they will give that back in return. Since I'm experienced in curriculum design we won't be working out of just one textbook. One textbook will never work for every student. If you child is having trouble in a subject or just wants to get ahead, a multi-faceted approach to learning will have him or her attaining goals in a much shorter period of time.
I'm a student just like you! I'm finishing up my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at University at Buffalo. My passions are music, books, and traveling. I have a lot of experience studying Psychology, Spanish, Criminal Justice, English, and taking AP classes in high school like AP European History, AP English Language, and AP American History. The classes I'm most passionate in are political science classes, and Psychology. I'm super excited to work with new students! My tutoring style is very flexible. I prefer talking through the problems a student is facing to make sure the student can learn as much as possible! I have the most experience working with students in grades 4-10, but I will happily work with students of any age. I have experience teaching over Zoom from teaching internships, done over the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am currently a graduate student at the University at Buffalo working on my PhD in mathematics. Before this, I obtained my master's degree from the College at Brockport, at which I spent the following two semesters teaching math courses to college students. While at the College at Brockport I spent three semesters as a math tutor in their Student Learning Center, as part of a graduate assistantship, tutoring courses such as Algebra,Precalculus, Single Variable Calculus, Multi-Variable Calculus, Statistics, and various other courses. I have also tutored students at the University at Buffalo as part of a teaching assistantship. My favorite subjects to tutor are calculus, trigonometry, and algebra. I've taught calculus courses at the college level multiple times, and I thoroughly enjoyed it each time.I believe that understanding how students learn mathematics is essential to teaching and tutoring mathematics. There are many different forms of teaching. I feel that I'm a great tutor because I try to understand how each student learns and then shape my instruction in such a way that will promote that student's understanding. I am always looking for new strategies to help captivate the interest of the students I instruct and tutor in order to help better foster learning. Learning mathematics is a process that requires active involvement, both from the tutor and the student. I continually strive to help all students reach their full potential.

CLT has oriented my teaching toward a more daily, real-life usage of the language, while reducing its sometimes overwhelming grammatical load.
I graduated from University at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. Even though, I graduated with a science degree, I had a fond love for mathematics and took Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III. After college, I wanted to travel the world while teaching students and changing their lives for the better. Thus, I got my certification in teaching. Furthermore, I decided to go to Thailand and teach kids Math and English. It was an amazing experience because it taught me that teachers can change the lives of their students by giving them the attention they need. My kids taught me as much as I taught them. I believe that learning from your students doesn't make you a good teacher but a great one.I am currently tutoring kids in SAT Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus. I have a great deal of teaching experience.I have a great understanding of Math because I have taken up to Calculus III in college. Also, I am a certified teacher. I know how to make lesson plans and be prepared to teach.I have spend the last 5 years studying Biology. In college, I did some extensive research with breast cancer cells. It made me more knowledgeable. Please feel free to contact me if you want to know more or if you are interested. Thank you.

I am an Honor's College graduate of the University at Buffalo where I received a dual Bachelor's of Arts degree in Biological Sciences and Anthropology. During undergraduate studies, I worked as a tutor for the university's athletics department. I tutored 10-15 students twice a week in subjects varying from Biology (Evolutionary, Cellular, Microbiology), to Anatomy & Physiology to Psychology. I am currently studying for my Medical School Admissions exam, which requires me to master all of the information covered in the above listed classes. Working with so many students from different backgrounds and learning styles was challenging but rewarding. I have garnered an arsenal of teaching techniques which allows me to individualize the way I present course material to each of my students. I find that life science classes are my favorite to teach because their applicability to the real world makes for fun and interesting tutoring sessions. In my spare time, I am an advocate for social justice. I also love sports, adventures, travelling!
My mission is to inspire life long learning as well as to give you the tools to discover your capacity for academic success and happiness.
I currently work as a teaching assistant at Long Island University in Biological Sciences and Human Anatomy, which requires me to have "office hours" available in order to help students that are struggling. Tutoring students can be very simple and sometimes very complicated, but I always look for ways to make analogies to things students feel more comfortable with so it doesn't seem like I'm speaking a foreign language to them. I get a personal sense of satisfaction when someone stops and goes, "oh, I've never thought of it that way before - now it all makes sense." In addition, often times I feel the education system here is misunderstood and students spend too much time memorizing "steps" to a subject rather than learning it, and inevitably end up failing when they are required to utilize the knowledge in future, more advanced work. In my experience, proper explanations toward understand subjects builds a much more lasting impression and life-long knowledge than short-term exam preparation could ever achieve.
I just graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a B.S. in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Public Health. I have worked as a tutor in biology and chemistry at my college and have worked to pioneer a research tutoring program. I have recently started medical school at Jacobs School of Medicine. I would love to help you with science related questions, but I can help you in other areas as well. Happy studying!
I am an astute, highly motivated, and goal-oriented individual with successful experiences in both academia and athletics. I am also an effective communicator, who is very much excited to pass down my knowledge to students.
My teaching experience has reinforced my love for education. I enjoy challenging my students, discovering their hidden talents, and I appreciate the hard work they do. I strive to teach the whole child.Over the past several tears, I have realized that my calling in life is teaching. I have learned that when students construct their own learning experiences they are more confident in themselves and retain information for a longer time. Incorporating new technologies, such as tablets and smart boards have become a cornerstone of 21st century education. The use of these tools better allow students to share, explore, and create their own learning experiences. In addition, gives the help and support to those that truly need it.On a more personal note, I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy novels, listening and playing music on the guitar. When I'm not doing any of those things I am coaching wrestling or playing RPG video games like Skyrim, and Oblivion.
As a medical student and previous AP Chemistry teacher, I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring students in the sciences, helping them build a strong foundation in subjects like biology, chemistry, algebra, and neuroscience for over 8 years. I earned a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Psychology before completing an M.S. in Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. My favorite subject to tutor is neuroscience because it merges my passion for medicine and the sciences with my goal of becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon. My teaching philosophy focuses on making complex topics more approachable, emphasizing understanding over memorization, and tailoring my approach to each student's learning style. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident tackling challenging material. Outside of academia, I enjoy staying active via lifting, and mentoring aspiring medical students within NYC.
During college, I always enjoyed working with fellow students in learning material because often each person had a different perspective on certain concepts and this allowed me to view things differently which I always found quite helpful during school. As I moved to graduate school I took on teaching assistant roles in various courses. I found that working through problems with students was a very rewarding part of my graduate studies. This enjoyment lead me to pursue academics and I have been a tenured associate professor for almost 6 years teaching mostly in the Department of Chemistry at my College. I have taught various disciplines of chemistry including health professions related chemistry, general chemistry, upper level quantitative chemistry as well as the associated laboratory materials found in these courses. I look forward to sharing my knowledge in these subjects and hope I can provide you with the right guidance to excel in you studies.

I recently graduated from the University at Buffalo with a BS in Business Administration. My junior and senior year of college I worked as a tutor and primarily taught college level macroeconomics, microeconomics and statistics. I have worked with over 40 students and have learned that each student needs to work at their own pace and take a different approach to our sessions. I incorporate study skills and test taking stechniques into y tutoring sessions because it is important that students can use these skills in other subjects as well. I know that I have done my job when a student calls me at the end of semester excited to tell me how well their final exam went. If you or your child needs help with economics, math or general study skills to keep the material fresh this summer I would be glad to work with you.

They understand the test format, common stumbling blocks, and effective preparation methods. Beyond test strategies, they can help you build the foundational skills these exams measure, like reading comprehension, math problem-solving, and writing. Connecting with a tutor who's been through test prep can boost both your confidence and your score.
