Hello! I am a current first year medical student at the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo. I have taught individuals from ages 5 to adult and have experience with one-on-one, small group, and classroom-style pedagogies. I look forward to helping you or your child learn!

I am an astute, highly motivated, and goal-oriented individual with successful experiences in both academia and athletics. I am also an effective communicator, who is very much excited to pass down my knowledge to students.
Hi, my name is Sam! I am a student at University at Buffalo in New York currently working on a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. I have two Associates degrees, one in Biotechnology and one in Liberal Arts: Natural Science. I began my path independently, always fascinated with the field of science. My goal is to help students recognize that their ambition can take them as far as they want and to foster an excitement for learning! I like that teaching not only helps the student, but also helps me with my own understanding of the subject.
Learning is one of the most rewarding, useful, and fun things that a person can do. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students complete assigned tasks and get good grades, but also to understand why the material is important and how it can help them in life. If I can help a student to be motivated to learn, aspire to fulfill meaningful goals, and give them the tools they need to reach those goals, then I will consider the time that I have spent with them as a success.I graduated from University at Buffalo with a B.A. in Math and Economics and an M.S. in Economics with an advanced certificate in Finance. I now work at M&T Bank as a Credit Analyst. I aspire to start my own business next year.I try to put effort into improving at everything that I do because I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well. Some of my life achievements include, being an all county 1st singles player on my high school tennis team, improving my max bench press by 35lbs in 3 months, running a marathon, climbing a mountain, clearing a 40 feet long ski jump, ranking in the top 10 players in upstate NY in a video game, getting a job in my field immediately after college, being chosen to lead a project at work even though I am one of the newest people there, completing 3 college degrees in 5 years with a high GPA, working at least part time every year since I was in 10th grade, and ranking 1st every week in location accuracy and pulls per week as a backroom team member at Target. I am currently independently learning coding through codecademy.com and freecodecamp.com and am in the process of creating my own website. These things all resulted from the common theme of focused effort and a clear mindset for improvement. Improvement happens when you try to do something, fail, figure out what you're doing wrong, and try to fix it. Everyone can improve at everything if they stay focused, adapt their improvement methods, and try again. It's never too late. Some things take more time than others, but everything is achievable. If you have an idea of what you want to accomplish in the future, start now and you'll be much more likely to get to where you want to be.
I am a former Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Johnson C. Smith University. I have over thirty years experience teaching General Chemistry, Analytical (qualitative, quantitative and instrumentation), and Physical Chemistry (thermodynamics and quantum .) Mathematics was a subject that I had struggled with during my primary and secondary education. I know how frustrating math can be, but with little encouragement and help, anyone can succeed in math.Even though my struggles with math through out the high school years, today Im a certified math teacher and tutor math. I have over 7 years of experience and I love every second of it.I specialize in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & 2, Geometry and Test Prep (SAT and ACT Math). Every student has different needs and abilities. After assessing each student, (how they learn, what are their needs and abilities), I customize each lessons to address students needs and to build his/her confidence.
I currently attend the University at Buffalo where I am working toward my B.A. in philosophy and my B.S. in biology. In high school, I was valedictorian of my class and excelled in every subject. I scored well on both the SAT and ACT, which helped me to earn a full scholarship.I believe that anyone can learn anything and people can come to love subjects they once hated. I love helping people make connections they couldn't make before. In my spare time, I can be found ballroom dancing or doing Tae Kwon Do.
I have a Bachelor's of Science degree as well as a Master's of Science degree in Applied Physiology. My educational experiences included numerous classes in biology, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, and general sciences. While I was working towards my degrees I had a Teaching Assistantship, which meant I taught lab sessions and tutored my peers who needed extra help. I currently educate and mentor women with autoimmune diseases on how to reverse their autoimmune symptoms using various lifestyle shifts and discovering the root cause of their autoimmunity. I love helping people learn the information they need to know to better themselves, whether it's to improve their health, do well on an exam, or to simply improve their knowledge in the sciences.
I am an enthusiatic Nurse by trade and have extensive experience working as a writing tutor through college. My first love in life is education, so working as a tutor seemed like the right course of action to augment my studies to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and my Doctorate in Nursing. I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals as I work toward mine!
I love tutoring Latin, Greek, and English. I strive to be attentive to how my students express themselves and always aim to present material in a way that is in sync with how they learn. This has allowed students I've worked with to feel comfortable opening up about their interests and frustrations with me so that I can make a subject more relevant to them and create more motivation to learn. I always try to gear the way I teach to my students' learning styles and make them feel less self-conscious and more confident about making mistakes and explaining their thought process. I am good at convincing my students that they will see more rewards from their persistence. I have worked with several students who were scoring in the seventies on tests and quizzes when I started working with them who then began to see dramatic results with scores in the nineties in a fairly short time.I make use of various tools like mnemonic devices and English word derivatives to make vocabulary and form-memorization easier. I also have students draw charts showing the patterns and similarities among various noun and verb endings they need to know so they can truly master these fundamentals of the language.Though I went on to earn a degree in Latin and Greek literature in college, I really think my passionate interest in this subject was nurtured and allowed to thrive because of the extremely solid foundation I received in Latin grammar from one outstanding high school teacher. I hope to emulate his outstanding teaching ability and allow others to succeed the way he allowed me.I've tutored students in Latin and Greek for over 10 years. I received a perfect score on the National Latin Exam and Latin SAT II and am familiar with preparing students for these exams, as well as for AP Latin. Some highlights of my educational and teaching background are that I've graduated from Reginald Foster's demanding program in Rome for the practice of oral Latin and daily sight reading and obtained my B.A. with honors in Greek and Latin literature. I also did post-graduate training with Dr. Stephen Daitz, the foremost scholar on the classical pronunciation of ancient Greek and Latin. I received an award for being the highest ranking student in Greek and Latin Literature in my college's classics department. I am a former member of the American Classical League and have attended some of their national conferences and seminars on the teaching of Latin. I also have experience creating educational materials for intermediate students of Latin online for a website that publishes full length texts in foreign languages and uses editors to write different types of explanatory material and educational glosses to aid students' reading.I look forward to helping you meet your specific goals.
I graduated from college quite a long time ago but my own kids, and current students too, see me as a fun person and a kid at heart. One of the hardest things for a teacher to be able to do is relate to kids and their issues. Students can easily tell if a teacher genuinely cares or is just going through the motions of teaching. All my students know I care and they give me maximum effort in return. Before I became a teacher I was actively engaged in my own children's education. I home-schooled them for many years while running my own engineering and marketing businesses from home. My own children are either in their final years of high school or in college. My children would always tell me how great I was at teaching and I should do it full time. I finally listened to them and now enjoy every day of work. I am the head of the math and science departments at a small private school in The Woodlands. It is a wonderful school but the small size has its own challenges. I am in charge of curriculum development which can be time consuming. I have to design the curriculum to be interesting, challenging, and productive. There is no one way to teach a concept. Through the use of practical examples, multimedia, specialized worksheets and study materials, the subjects are covered without the normal objections by the students. Every day we are learning but having fun while doing it.Outside of school I like to work on cars, electrical design, and fixing anything that's broken. I also like to read textbooks, watch movies, and cook for my family. I let them do the dishes though.I'm looking forward to being your childs tutor. I'll give them 100% and hopefully they will give that back in return. Since I'm experienced in curriculum design we won't be working out of just one textbook. One textbook will never work for every student. If you child is having trouble in a subject or just wants to get ahead, a multi-faceted approach to learning will have him or her attaining goals in a much shorter period of time.
Undergraduate student with a passion for learning and teaching. I have come to understand the importance of tutoring from the tutors I have worked with and want to share that experience with others. Furthermore, I believe I become more successful the more I help others to become successful.
Hello, I am currently a School Psychology Ph.D. student at Duquesne University who specializes in research in academic interventions to improve students' academic skills, specifically writing. I currently hold a Master's Degree in Education, Child Psychology, and a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Psychology with a Teacher Education Minor. It is my passion to not only tutor students, but to mentor them to be their best selves both inside and outside of the classroom. I will be graduating in May of 2022 and am currently going through the rigorous and competitive matching process to obtain a pre-doctoral internship through the American Psychological Association (APA). Upon graduation, I plan to obtain licensure to become a licensed psychologist and work as a tenure-track professor at a university.I love to tutor students in research, psychology, writing which is my specialty and reading. However, I believe that I can help a student achieve their goals across all subject areas. I have learned various techniques through my Ph.D. program, as my specialty of school psychology focuses on helping students obtain success both inside and outside of the classroom, both educationally, socially, and emotionally. Overall, with being in college for almost ten years, I know what hard work and dedication can bring. I know that every student is unique and learns differently, so I work to shape my tutoring sessions around how that student learns best.
I am a high school English teacher in South Florida. I love working with students to see the light bulb go off when they finally get the concept we are learning. I hope to help you do the same!
I recently graduated from the University at Buffalo with a BS in Business Administration. My junior and senior year of college I worked as a tutor and primarily taught college level macroeconomics, microeconomics and statistics. I have worked with over 40 students and have learned that each student needs to work at their own pace and take a different approach to our sessions. I incorporate study skills and test taking stechniques into y tutoring sessions because it is important that students can use these skills in other subjects as well. I know that I have done my job when a student calls me at the end of semester excited to tell me how well their final exam went. If you or your child needs help with economics, math or general study skills to keep the material fresh this summer I would be glad to work with you.
Greetings parents and students, thank you for visiting my page. I am a Chinese American, who finished my K-12 education in China. Under the Chinese education system, I have a very strong fundamental knowledge of math and science. I learned college level general Physics in grade 8, general Chemistry in grade 9, and college Calculus in grade 10. So if you need any help in these subjects, you are in good hands.I have years of tutoring experience and am friendly, patient and good at explaining things. When you come to me for help in your studies, I am not here as your tutor, I am here as your friend, you'll have all my patience and devotion in helping you do well in your test and develop interest in the subject.Talk to me about any problem you encounter, feel free to let me know your challenges, and I will do my best to turn those challenges into your best areas.
I am a graduate of the University at Buffalo. I received a Master of Arts in Biology. While obtaining my degree, I created and ran my own internet website businesses. I also worked as a dental assistant in hopes of one day becoming a dentist. I love helping people and making them smile, especially if they are having a difficult time learning a specific concept or idea. My friends and family always come to me for help with science and math problems because I'm patient, fun, funny, understanding, and know how to explain topics in a wide variety of ways.My teaching style is unique. I first listen to my students and learn how they like to learn, and memorize new techniques and skills. After learning about my students, I devise strategies to best fit their study habits. I relate problems to what they like (always trying to make learning fun). I give students pointers on how to learn and thrive in an academic setting.Besides science and math I love sports, music (especially the drums), and cooking. I love all professional sports including football, hockey, basketball, and baseball. I play racquetball once a week and go to the gym daily. I've played the drums and percussion my whole life, and I love cooking for my friends and family.
I first became interested in Chinese language, history, and culture when I watched Once Upon a Time in China starring Jet Li in high school. Although now I realize that the movie was in Cantonese, back then I was fascinated by the country and decided to start learning Mandarin in college.I have been studying Mandarin for 6 years. I received my BA in Asian Studies from the University at Buffalo in 2015. One year later, I obtained my graduate certificate from the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in China. In this program, I attended 7 classes on various academic subjects in which the language of instruction was Mandarin. While still a student of advanced Mandarin myself, I can tutor elementary and intermediate Mandarin, particularly with simplified characters. In my spare time, I write articles on developments in Chinese and Nepali relations on LinkedIn in both Chinese and English.Because Mandarin is one of the most difficult languages in the world, I take an engaging yet relevant approach to teaching. For example, I try to use equivalent sounds in the English language to practice pronunciation. I also describe images to help others remember the Chinese characters.I also enjoy playing the violin, video games, and different Chinese and Western card games.
I'm a graduate of the University at Buffalo. I received my Masters degree in Urban Planning with a focus on Urban Design. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively (especially within Central America). In my experience, I was a teaching assistant at the University at Buffalo for an environmental design studio, I was also residential advisor (RA) and held various programs specifically arts and craft programs throughout the year. I am a firm believer in education and in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr." The function of education is to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character- that is the true goal of education." This is also part of my intent and goal for each student. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, painting, planting and hiking.
I graduated from Binghamton State University in 2010 with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Spanish. After completing my undergraduate studies, I moved back closer to home and continued on with Romance Languages and Literature Studies in graduate school. In 2012, I received my M.A. Degree from St. John's University, Queens, NY. Since 2012, I have been working toward a Ph.D. in Spanish at the University at Buffalo. At the University at Buffalo, I worked for 5 years as a Spanish language instructor to undergraduate students. This upcoming academic year I will be teaching Spanish in a private high school in Queens, New York.In terms of my teaching experience, I have also familiarized myself with Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) through teaching pedagogy courses as well as numerous pedagogical workshops. CLT has oriented my teaching toward a more daily, real-life usage of the language, while reducing its sometimes overwhelming grammatical load.
Hi, my name is Eric! I received my Masters in Architecture graduate degree from the University of Buffalo. I have a background in construction, maintenance, and customer service, paired with a strong mechanical aptitude. I have also worked as an administrative assistant.I love connecting with students of all ages and sharing my passion for learning, technology, and education. My experience in the IT field pushed me to develop a great sense of patience and understanding for individuals who might be struggling or frustrated. I find it very rewarding to dig into a problem, provide an explanation, and watch a student or individual get excited or relieved as they have a light bulb go off. My goal is to put students at ease, help them gain comfort with material, and build confidence along the way.
I am a Ph.D. student at the University at Buffalo, studying English literature. My research is in nineteenth and twentieth-century, American literature, and my teaching experience is mostly in English composition and writing, in particular essay writing, making arguments, conducting humanities research, as well as providing solid instruction in writing mechanics and grammar. I have tutored and consulted writers for seven years, and I have taught writing for five.
I currently work as a teaching assistant at Long Island University in Biological Sciences and Human Anatomy, which requires me to have "office hours" available in order to help students that are struggling. Tutoring students can be very simple and sometimes very complicated, but I always look for ways to make analogies to things students feel more comfortable with so it doesn't seem like I'm speaking a foreign language to them. I get a personal sense of satisfaction when someone stops and goes, "oh, I've never thought of it that way before - now it all makes sense." In addition, often times I feel the education system here is misunderstood and students spend too much time memorizing "steps" to a subject rather than learning it, and inevitably end up failing when they are required to utilize the knowledge in future, more advanced work. In my experience, proper explanations toward understand subjects builds a much more lasting impression and life-long knowledge than short-term exam preparation could ever achieve.

I have been cultivating expertise in teaching since my high school education. My experience has included both formal teaching duties and informal conveyance of my knowledge and experience to my peers and juniors. The first time I had a notable teaching experience was when I taught the International Physics Olympiads Prep Team at a private high school for four semesters, during my junior and senior college education. I successfully designed a study curriculum, led a team of tutors in Physics, Math and Computational Science Olympiads and taught many gifted students. The year I moved to the States for my post-graduate career, I was happy to hear news of two of my students receiving medals in the National Olympiad. In the U.S., I designed and taught Precalculus, AP Calculus and SAT Math Prep courses in a private high school in New Jersey. Many of my students got scholarships from major U.S. universities. One of themeven got a perfect score in SAT Math the following year and enrolled in Duke University.Until I recently received my Ph.D., I continued to be involved in teaching activities as lecturing and tutoring college students for more than five years. I taught and lectured many different laboratory courses and lecture sessions such as Physics I: Mechanics, Physics II: Electricity and Magnetism, Mechanics Laboratory, Electricity and Magnetism Laboratory, Optics Laboratory, Modern Physics Laboratory and Quantum Physics. As of now, I have been teaching, formally and informally, for more than 13 years. Throughout my teaching life, I received outstanding evaluations from my students, in oral and written form. I believe my achievement as a teacher is a consequence of my enthusiasm about teaching and my teaching philosophy; that is to care for and respect the students and the topic to be taught.
My passion is making math and science visual and applicable. I want to bring my experience from being a college professor to students as a tutor.
I am a graduate of the University of the State of New York. I received my Master's Degree in Elementary Education and I have been teaching for 22 years. I also teach summer school every year and the grades have ranged from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I believe that teaching and learning should incorporate elements of fun. It is through the fun and engagement that the children learn best. I absolutely love when I can see in a child's face that the knowledge has been gained. I am a firm believer in life-long learning. I never admit to knowing everything and will help a child to find an answer if I am unable to do so. This shows my students that I am also human. Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, kayaking, swimming, cake decorating, and drawing/painting.

I am currently a senior at SUNY University at Buffalo. I am working towards a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's degree in education, and I hope to become a high school chemistry teacher in the future. Though I am most passionate about chemistry, I also tutor English literature/language, pre-algebra, and algebra. In addition to tutoring, I have worked as a teaching assistant for two courses in college. One belief of mine that has formed the foundation of my teaching philosophy is that education becomes something truly special once a student applies both the lessons and thinking skills they've learned in their daily life. This is achieved not only by providing active, engaging education but by empathizing and relating with students as well.
I believe that everything can be learned and taught when there is a right match between a learner and a teacher

My teaching philosophy centers on meeting students where they are and helping them build
As a dedicated medical student at Wake Forest School of Medicine with a Bachelor's in Biomedical Sciences from the University at Buffalo, I am passionate about guiding students toward academic success. With over 2 years of tutoring experience, I specialize in subjects such as MCAT, ACT prep, AP English Language and Composition, and middle school English and reading. My teaching philosophy centers on creating engaging, tailored lesson plans that address individual student needs and foster confidence. I believe in making learning enjoyable and attainable, and I utilize practice questions and timed exercises to prepare students for success in standardized exams. My commitment to education is reflected in my academic achievements, including multiple gold medals in Spanish competitions. I look forward to inspiring students to reach their goals and find joy in their learning journey.
I am confident that my experience in chemistry and math, and devotion to helping others in education can be utilized to enhance students' understanding of these subjects during our one-on-one tutoring sessions. I would like to build a close relationship with students and create a comfortable environment so that we may have good communication as we learn together. I have enjoyed my tutoring jobs more than any others that I have experienced, because it brought me joy to see the relief on a student's face after figuring out the answer to a hard question and realizing that they were smart and capable of solving them with their own abilities. With an interest and complete understanding in solving chemistry and math problems, I believe that my true calling in life is to aid others by analyzing problems together and guiding them through different procedures with simple techniques that will expand their knowledge, and hopefully motivate them to improve their education in an enjoyable manner. I can't see myself doing anything else except striving to make a difference in the educational world, no matter how small.
I graduated from Harry S. Truman high school in 2015. I am currently studying Chemistry at the University at Buffalo, where I am planning to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry. I am fairly experienced working with grade school and high school students in their math and science classes. When I was in those grades, I would assist the teacher by tutoring their students who are struggling in the class, whether that's just help with their homework or and extensive review of the material we learned in class. I also helped many of my peers prepare for the New York Regents exams. I helped them prepare for the Chemistry, Trigonometry, Geometry, and Algebra Regents. These along with basic math and science concepts are my favorite to help students because these are the subjects I excel at. These subjects interest me the most and I hope to use these subjects in my future field of work.I can teach in many ways and will always adjust my style to fit the students needs. I do tend to teach in way that allows the student to learn their own process of thinking while using me a resource if they are having trouble. I like to do this by facilitating the student through practice problems without giving any real answers. This allows the student to understand the material as well as build their confidence to tackle a problem all on their own.Outside of school, I like to do many to unwind such as go for a run or some form of exercise. I enjoy drawing, reading, and even video games. I always like to learn about new hobbies to keep me from ever being bored.
Help others to reach their their goals and dreams through success is something very important for me not just as tutor but as a person. Learn something new some times is very difficult for some students, be patient is key to understanding how to help others.Love and light first is the success in every person.
