Tutoring review by Lorna in Fairfield, CT
After doing some final touch up work on the student's English review, I believe she is very well prepared for her Saturday Final. We read through some of her old essays from the year which had overlapping themes that were to be tested on the exam, went through her English plot flashcards from the three major works that they read, and discussed possible connections between different topics. After that we did a solid hour of Classical Civ work, with the student making great strides on her memorization, and started discussing the possible quote identification sources for her test.

In today's session, the student and I covered section 9.5 in her Algebra II book. This is the topic that her teacher will be covering on Monday. The section covered adding and subtracting rational functions and simplifying complex fractions.  At first, the material seemed difficult, but after working a few problems, she became more comfortable.

Tutoring review by Sara in Fairfield, CT
Reviewed percents (good) and functions (still a bit confusing) as a warm-up. Then took a practice test (one of the two math sections, so 25 minutes). The student finished all the problems in time but missed several; a few because of tricky wording, a few because of more complex concepts or getting confused about how to set up a story problem involving variables. Showed her how the scores are calculated.

Then we spent the second half of our session reviewing some math concepts and working through a few practice problems.
