We reviewed his last quiz that he will be able to retake. He had trouble on octet rule and counting electrons, which we went over in depth. By the end of the lesson he was able to do resonance structures pretty well. We reviewed radical simplification in math, which he will have another test in.

During this session, the student and I worked hard at completing her math homework- word problems utilizing fractions- as well as reviewing problems that involved adding/subtracting fractions, including other words problems that involved these concepts. As always, this was a very productive session and I sincerely look forward to meeting with her again next week.

Tutoring review by Carin in Woodbury, NJ
The student and I started off by finishing her homework for today. They are studying roots, factors and simplification. The student was a little unclear on the concept, but we went over the rules and strategies of roots, and she has the basic methods down now. One of the things that slowed her down more than anything else was stumbling over the multiplication and division. I suggested (and the student agreed) that it might be beneficial to spend some time online practicing her times and division tables. There are several sites that offer fun games and challenges that I think she would enjoy. Overall, once she has some more practice, I'm sure she can be completely confident with roots.

Tutoring review by Jason in Woodbury, NJ
This first session was to determine where the student was in terms of what she needed help with. After reviewing her previous class quizzes (especially where she did not have the right answers) and briefly looking through her class notes, I felt that she understood the fundamentals of Algebra 2 and did not seem to have any issues understanding the material. However, the errors on her exams led me to believe that she needed to slow down and focus on her work and be more detail-oriented to obtain the correct answers. At the end of the session, I met with her parents and explained to them what I saw and how I think she can improve her grade.
