Ever since I was a kid, I really couldn't learn unless I learned in a way that made sense to me. Multiplying by five was always multiplying by ten and cutting in half, and division was always how many twos do I need to add up to make six, NEVER how many times does two go into six? I figured out that learning was all about how you thought about stuff. I made up little phonetics and learned songs for memorization, and found myself doing really well in school. What I loved the most about this strategy, though, was that I could help explain things to my friends in ways they really understood. In French class, my teacher let me walk around class and help teach my classmates conjugations, and my friends asked me for help on their homework all the time. I loved helping them all out, and I loved being helpful. My sophomore year of high school, I had the opportunity to tutor one of the younger guys on my swim team in biology and I really enjoyed it so much that I tutored him the following year in chemistry. In college, I volunteer taught swim lessons, and even got to do volunteer GED tutoring in the Manson Youth Institution, a boys prison near my university. One summer, I started Skyping with a Parisian woman to better my French and I helped her learn English. I really enjoyed all of those experiences. Getting to know everyone and help them to accomplish their goals was really fulfilling plus, I got to skip an intro French class for the Skyping! In the future, Im hoping to do a program to teach English in France for a year, and am really looking forward to honing my skills as a tutor on this platform until then.

I am a recent graduate of Wagner College who received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in French. I am currently a RN at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in the Pediatric ICU and come with fresh experience in NCLEX/TEAS test prep and clinical fieldwork. I have tutored students in the past with Kumon, in private, and while in university, so I'm very familiar working with students of all ages (children and adults alike), and very excited to begin work with Varsity Tutors! I always make sure to have fun and involve students in lessons so that the subjects are more relatable to students and they can find personal ways to engage with the topics taught. Although I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about French language and culture, particularly francophone tradition, food, and celebration. My trips to France really kept my French knowledge and interests alive.

Hi there! I am a recent graduate from Temple's PA Program and hold a degree in Masters of Physician Assistant Studies. I am skilled in tutoring kids K-12 for more than four years now through working at my local tutoring center, private tutoring, and working with many students through Varsity Tutors for the past 5 years. I'm comfortable teaching elementary school math, middle school math, algebra 1 and 2, geometry, precalculus, and calculus AB! I enjoy teaching all these subjects, but I enjoy teaching middle school and early high school math the most! I believe this is because I was also struggling with math when I was in that age range the most. These past struggles help me relate better with what these kids are likely struggling with as well. Being able to understand where students' struggles in math lie plays a huge role in forming a solid understanding in the subject. From being a tutor for so long, I have learned what really matters to me when it comes to helping students. To me, working with students is more than just about teaching. It's about making them feel more confident in the material and themselves, and even maybe enjoy the subject they're struggling with! I think it's really important to influence kids to have their own personal goals when it comes to school, and I feel like we forget that sometimes! Even though I love tutoring, I have other interests such as reading mystery novels, watching Netflix, listening to music, and taking long walks outside!

Having the opportunity to tutor students in the subjects I enjoy most is exciting. I hope to be able to help students reach their full potential.I hold a Bachelors Degree in Molecular Genetics, with a minor in European History, from The Ohio State University, as well as a Masters Degree in Medical Physiology from Case Western Reserve University. I will be applying to medical school next year and consider tutoring an ideal endeavor for the interim period.I have teaching experience at multiple levels of education. This past year I was employed as a Teaching Assistant for a graduate-level Immunology class at CWRU and have also tutored inner-city grade school children in mathematics, reading, science, and social studies.I am qualified to tutor any K-8 subject, all levels of Biology (including AP and College), Immunology, History, and Public Speaking. Biology is the subject for which I am most passionate, as I find it challenging and have always excelled at it.My style of teaching is both hands on and visual. I like to draw and physically show concepts as much as possible. I also employ a reverse teaching style where I challenge the student to explain the subject matter to me in detail. This method has generally worked well as it clearly demonstrates to the students where they need the most assistance in any particular area.Personally, I am a huge sports fan, especially Ohio State Football. I love boating, ice skating, and spending time with my adorable year-old son, husband, and my dog.

Hi! My undergraduate degree is in biology. I worked as a clinical assistant for almost 2 years and went on to complete my Master's in Medical Sciences with focus on microbiology and immunology from the University of South Florida. I worked in research in Brazil in neuroimmunology and also completed my medical degree there in 2019. I plan to pursue my residency in pediatric neurology and I'm currently preparing for that.Teaching has always been a part of my life. I started teaching English as a second language as a volunteer in my parish when I was 16 and then got paid positions in different English schools. I taught science to middle school students as part of a nonprofit organization in Boston and also to high school students as part of a forum on medicine. I also taught science to elementary students in a bilingual Canadian school in Brazil. I was a teacher's assistant/tutor for two years in medical school in both anatomy and pathology.Students have unique needs. Thus, I have learned to adapt my teaching/tutoring methods well to fulfill these. My passion for teaching is undeniable. I believe there is nothing a motivated and determined student cannot do. I'm here to propel that learning process.

I am a recent graduate of Oregon State University/Oregon Health & Science University where I received my doctor of pharmacy degree. During my undergraduate study, I served as a general chemistry learning assistant, facilitating student self-directed teaching. And in pharmacy school, I created an educational review presentation on the topic of heart failure for third-year pharmacy students. Moreover, I created an educational brochure to help educate university students about depression and a cardiac medication education brochure for cardiac rehab patients during my experiential rotation. With many courses in pharmacy school, I have developed a specific interest in therapeutics as well as the mechanisms of action and side effects of drugs. In my experience creating pharmacy educational content, I realized that there are many different ways to present the same information, some of which are easier to understand than the others and that with the right resources, students can understand the materials with ease. Hence, I made it my goal to share my knowledge and seek ways to present things that are easy to understand. I strongly believe that learning should be filled with zest.
