I am a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, TX where I received an M.A.T (Master of Arts in Teaching) degree. I am a certified elementary teacher who has taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades in the public school and substitute taught for PK-8 in a private school setting. I am passionate about teaching elementary children and helping them master fundamental skills. I particularly enjoy working on basic number concepts, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and all aspects of language development, especially spelling, grammar, and free writing. I love to use games or other creative methods to peak student interest and give them a solid understanding of CONCEPTS rather than sets of formulas, rules, etc, without the knowledge to manipulate or apply them. My philosophy is process-oriented rather than product oriented (outcome ONLY), with an emphasis on taking the student from the level he/she is and generating marked improvement over time. It thrills me to see the light in students' eyes when they grasp a difficult concept or realize their own potential for success!I provide a unique blend of elementary classroom and PK-8 substitute teaching experience, and I have worked with special education students, which taught me patience, flexibility, and a deeper appreciation for diversity. I have utilized both a phonics-based approach and a literature-based/writing approach in language development and reading comprehension.As my own children have grown and my youngest is a high school junior, I find myself missing the challenges and triumphs of teaching. I am a graduate of the Master's program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, in addition to holding a BFA in Musical Theatre from Belmont University. Since graduating from high school, I have lived in a variety of places, including Nashville, Northern California, London, and, most recently, New York. Due in part to my background in the performing arts, I am most excited about teaching literature, reading comprehension, and English. I also am passionate about helping students polish essays and language skills in preparation for the SAT and ACT. I am a big believer in the values of a strong education, and am committed to helping people develop the skills they will need for the next chapter. In my spare time, I love to see live theater, attend concerts, play with dogs, and read historical biographies.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree at Ohio University, where I majored in Business and Interpersonal Communications. I then went out into the business world for a decade before earning my Master's Degree at the University of Phoenix here in Dallas.I have tutored students as young as 4-5th grade, and college students too, but my main concentrations have been with grades 7-12. I worked with 36 high school seniors who could not pass the TAKS Tests a few years back, and was able to get 35 of the students passing grades, which allowed them to graduate. I have also helped 8th graders who needed to take assessment tests to enter high school early pass the tests and successfully move up a grade. It is a wonderful experience to help students learn, and many of those whom I work with are really smart but just ned a little guidance, confidence, or an understanding at how to look at a problem a little differently. My main subject areas have been English, Writing, Public Speaking, Math, Science, United States History and Geometry. I also tutor standardized test taking.One of my strengths as a tutor is to take difficult subjects or concepts and make them easier to understand. I am completely dedicated to helping students get better. I like for teaching and learning to be fun, because students learn more if they are enjoying what they are being taught.My outside interests are enjoying time with my family, traveling, sports, and working out. In addition, I work with a non-profit organization that helps children, and we offer them sports and entertainment programs as a way to give them positive activities to do and goals to achieve.I look forward to working with you and helping you learn more and improve in your areas of academic interest.

As my resume demonstrates, I am a Texas certified Social Studies Composite 4-12 and Math 4-8 teacher with Master degree in History and five years of teaching experience in various social studies subjects and math. I started my teaching career as a U.S history and AP Human Geography teacher at Harmony School of Science at Houston, Texas, and at Harmony Science Academy at Houston. I accumulated the rest of my teaching experience in various learning centers and international programs in China teaching AP U.S World History, SAT, and TOEFL courses. For the past five years, I had been teaching middle school math in Texas and Virginia. Currently, I am teaching Algebra at Cullen Middle School in Houston Independent School District in Texas.

I graduated from the University of North Texas majoring in Economics with a minor in Statistics. I work as an Academic Assistant tutoring for Principles of Micro and Macro Economics. What makes me an exceptional tutor is the connection that I construct with the students in the time allotted. The best way to learn is to teach and I have grown increasingly patient and fond for the subject. I In my free time I like to read books (usually about Economics), write poetry, and workout. After I graduate I am looking to pursue higher education and hopefully obtain a Phd in Economics and do research in a field of my interest.
