Tutoring review by Michaela in Parsippany, NJ
The student is showing steady improvement, and his hard work is really beginning to show. We've gone through all of his vocab cards, so I'll be compiling vocab lists for him to start on next. He's gotten much better at the reading section since changing his strategy, and I hope this will continue. I asked him to time himself on the passages this week, as he should be trying to cut down the initial read to about one minute to give himself more time on the questions.

This session was unique because the student is taking an immersion approach to learning Spanish. She wants to score a B in her class. So I brought my Spanish version of a story book that she has in English, so that she could read along and translate for herself. After 45 minutes of this we worked on math, and then in the last ten minutes we studied the Greek alphabet.

The student and I had another US History focused, note taking and current event summarizing session. It went well; much better than the past couple sessions when we had focused on Sea Biscuit. His independence with reading the text and taking organized notes is improving. Yay!

Tutoring review by Seyed in Parsippany, NJ
The student and I met from 2:10 to 4:20. We briefly discussed her understanding of the SAT test and some of the general strategies. We then began work on solidifying some of the strategies for the Math section and after working through one section together, we discussed strategies for the reading, writing, and essay portions, as well. She seemed like she had a much better understanding of the amount of studying required of her by the end of the session.

Today we prepared for her quiz in French. The content was vocabulary of the train station. She was on top of her game because she knew and remembered most of the vocab with only a few grammar mistakes. We also talked about the Cold War and it's evolution out of the ashes of World War II.
