I am an experienced and certified educator who earned his bachelor’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Houston. I specialize in tutoring elementary Math and English Language Arts, including reading and writing. I particularly enjoy tutoring math concepts and bridging the discrepancy between concrete and abstract ideas/processes.I believe that every student has the capacity to learn. My love for math has led me to gain a bachelor's in math from the University of Florida and a master's in applied math from George Washington University. Furthermore, I have previous tutoring experience dating back to when I was in Math Honor Society in high school plus I have been a graduate teaching assistant for 2 years. So, trust me when I say I understand how hard math can be. But, that does not mean it is impossible. I genuinely believe that anyone can be good at math. You just need time and proper guidance. My goal is for every student I work with to leave with more confidence in their mathematical abilities. You can do it. There is no doubt in my mind.I tutor Algebra and Calculus 1. My goal is to provide students with top quality tutoring by being attentive to their needs, and working as a team towards finding solutions. My teaching philosophy is to identify and strengthen areas of weakness, and encourage dedication to learning math because I firmly believe anyone can learn math! My hobbies are running, writing short stories, maintaining my blog and reading.

I have my Masters in Education and my Bachelors in Chemistry from the University of Maryland (Go Terps!). I have taught Pre-college Test Prep for over 8 years. I have also worked with children with special needs or developmental delays for the same amount of time. I have taught the gambit from early childhood education to teaching college courses. I love to teach because I love to inspire and affect change. I was blessed to have amazing teachers who challenged me and I only wish to do the same with my students. I am looking to find a students’ inner motivation so that they can best achieve their academic and career goals. My favorite subject to tutor is math, especially to students who “do not like” math, because I feel that these students just have not been taught that language yet and only need to learn how to decipher it. I am a second-year student at Virginia Commonwealth University's Honors College. I am double majoring in Biology and Bioinformatics with a concentration in biological/genomic sciences and minoring in chemistry on the pre-medicine track.I worked as a manager at Kumon Math and Reading Center for two years. I interacted with students of all ages including those with learning disabilities. Through high school, I volunteered as a tutor and helped in multiple subject areas. In addition, I am a trained mentor for Mentor Collective.I am passionate about helping others excel in their academic pursuits. Tutoring has been an essential part of my academic experience and I hope to provide the same guidance. The goal I give myself is to allow my students to reach the same level of confidence in their abilities.

I am double majoring in Government and Justice and Peace Studies and intend to one day become a United States Diplomat or work in the Department of Justice in Washington D.C. My hobbies include running, playing volleyball and scrolling through twitter looking for hilarious memes. I have been a tutor for about four years now, and I have worked with a range of students from kindergarteners to seniors in high school. I am skilled in an array of subjects such as math, reading comprehension, writing, and a whole lot of testing prep.
