Secaucus is a town in New Jersey, and is part of Hudson County. The town derives its name from the Algonquian words for "black" (seek) and "snake" (achgook.) For this session, the student and I focused on practicing the math portion of the exam. We started off with a practice drill to assess her level of understanding. Even though she got the majority of the questions wrong, I could tell that she fully understood each problem when going over the problems. I mentioned to her that a lot of the questions on the exam are trick questions designed to fool the student and that if she learns how to analyze the problem, she'd have no problem answering each question correctly. She was very focused and eager to learn how to answer the math questions. More practice will be needed for her to master the math portion.
