I just completed a PhD in Chemistry at Northwestern University. I started teaching in a Big Brother Big Sister program in Florence, Italy in 2006 and fell in love with sharing my knowledge with others. I was the teaching assistant for several chemistry courses at Pepperdine and Northwestern Universities; as well as being involved in Science in the Classroom demonstrations for 3rd and 4th grades. I am eager to share my love of science with students. I am passionate about science and math at all levels and I am a down-to-earth and compassionate teacher. My tutoring style is adapted to each student to focus on the specific areas of improvement. One size does not fit all, so why teach that way! There is nothing better than seeing a student's eyes light up when problems come together, which is partially why I especially love word problems. I love learning. This became apparent when my mother sadly let go of my hand on my first school bus ride several days into 1st grade classes. As the bus pulled up to Cleveland Road in Cleveland, Ohio I yanked my hand away from my mother and bolted towards the bus yelling "okay, bye!" I had no idea she was crying until she told me years later. I wasn't even afraid of the new experience of riding the school bus. I prefer English because I know that everyone has something to say. Even if you didn't like reading the book, I'm sure you can get on A on the essay. My sessions are informal and fun.
