Hi! I'm Kishen Mitra, a recent Duke biomedical engineering graduate with a passion for making STEM education accessible and engaging for students at all levels. At Duke, I served as a Teaching Assistant for upper-level BME courses including Modeling Cellular and Molecular Systems and Modern Diagnostic Imaging Systems, where I guided 90+ students through complex technical material. I also tutored student-athletes in calculus, differential equations, and chemistry, helping them build both conceptual understanding and academic confidence. Beyond the classroom, I've been deeply committed to mentorship. As an E-Team Peer Advisor at Duke's Pratt School of Engineering, I mentored two cohorts of first-year students through their transition to college. Currently, I mentor high school students from underrepresented backgrounds in STEM through Project Exploration in Chicago, supporting them as they explore their academic and career aspirations. I'm also the Founder and Program Director of STEM 4 All Kids, a nonprofit that has brought hands-on STEM enrichment to 500+ students across 9 Title I schools in Florida and hosted free biannual camps for 75 underserved middle schoolers in Durham. I love breaking down complex concepts, adapting my teaching approach to each student's unique learning style, and celebrating progress together. Whether you need support with math, physics, chemistry, SAT/ACT prep, or college application materials, I'm here to help you succeed. Let's work together to reach your goals!

PhD Mathematics. Undergrads in Physics and Maths. Duke University and NYU alumni.
I am a Duke alum currently working toward a Master of Science in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. As a pre-med student who majored in African and African American Studies, I have experience navigating a variety of disciplines. I also have experience tutoring in a number of subject areas, and have worked with diverse sets of students who have varied in age, grade level, and coursework. I began tutoring almost seven years ago working with disadvantaged students on mathematics. Since then, I have constructed curriculum for a program for middle school girls, and spent a semester training in preparation to be writing tutor at Duke’s writing center which serves graduate and undergraduate students across disciplines. I have a love for learning, and an appreciation for the richness that a interdisciplinary education provides. Helping others better understand their course materials, and, in turn, themselves as life-long learners, is a truly enriching experience.
I am a 2021 graduate from Duke University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with Distinction. At Duke, I also minored in Global Health and Chemistry and was a recipient of the Benjamin N. Duke full-ride scholarship based on leadership, service, and academics. I will be attending Yale Medical School as a member of the entering class of 2022. Having recently navigated the medical school application process with many interviews and acceptances, I have begun helping others with their essay writing and application prep. I come from a large Caribbean family and I love learning about other cultures while sharing my own. I enjoy teaching and have worked with everyone from Kindergarteners to middle and high school students to college students and even older adults! My primary teaching experience and interests are all elementary and middle school subjects, biology (through college level), beginner Spanish, essay writing, and test prep/study skills. I have also been an art educator for K-10 and adults!
I received my B.S. in Biology from Rhodes College, my M.S. in Biology from Alabama in Birmingham, and a PhD in Anatomy and Physiology from Duke University. My teaching over the last few years has focused on Histology (MicroAnatomy) and Physiology. Teaching modern histology and physiology requires a strong understanding of cell and molecular biology, and I incorporate these areas into my current teaching. I have also taught Genetics, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, and Introductory Biology. During my 25 years at the University of Puget Sound, I continually served on our Health Professions Advising Committee, and was chair of this committee for three years. We advised students in all aspects of their applications for professional schools in diverse areas of health care professions, such as medical and dental school, among other professional health-related graduate programs. As chair of the committee I was solely responsible for writing committee letters for all of our students who applied through our committee. As a science educator, I serve my students, and do my utmost to provide them with a modern education in biology. I sincerely love teaching, which for me includes preparation through literature research, and organization and delivery of the best information. I enjoy all aspects of teaching, but most especially the reward of seeing my students learn, and secondarily, my learning of my field and pedagogy, through my efforts as a teacher.
With over 30 years of experience in data analysis and consulting across business and social sciences, I bring a wealth of real-world knowledge to Excel tutoring. Throughout my career, I've helped organizations make sense of complex data, and I've also taught data analysis in the marketing research field, so I know how to translate technical concepts into clear, practical lessons. I hold an MBA with a strong emphasis on research and analysis, and I enjoy showing others how to unlock the power of Excel. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering critical thinking and real-world application, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical skills. I am committed to nurturing each student's unique learning style, and I find great joy in witnessing their growth and success. To me, Excel isn't just a toolit's fun. If you enjoy solving puzzles, you'll find that working in Excel can be just as satisfying. Whether you're learning the basics, tackling advanced formulas, or exploring data visualization, I'll help you build skills that make your work easier and more rewarding.
Hello! I recently graduated this past May from Stetson University down in DeLand, FL with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts in Nonprofit Administration, along with a minor in Music. I grew up in Winter Springs, FL, and graduated from Winter Springs High School as the Valedictorian of my class in 2011. I have been tutoring math since my sophomore year of high school, and during my time at Stetson University, I worked as a student tutor for the Mathematics Department for three years, tutoring calculus, probability, statistics, and finite mathematics. I also tutored independently, tutoring middle school and high school students in Algebra I and II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. I love numbers, and want you to as well!Beyond my background in math, I have several other interests as well. I have been a musician since the sixth grade when I first started playing the tuba. I have a passion for volunteering and nonprofit organizations, and have spent much time with one nonprofit in particular, Habitat for Humanity, both in the office setting and on build sites as well. I enjoy biking and running, as well as spending time in the mountains. My friends would describe me as friendly and goofy, as I never give up the opportunity to reference random Youtube videos in every day conversations, and revel in making others laugh. I love tutoring, and enjoy helping students accomplish their goals.I am now attending Duke University to pursue a Master of Public Policy, a track studying the quantitative analysis behind policy decisions. I will focus on social policy and international development.
As a dedicated tutor pursuing a Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, I have over 5 years of experience in helping students excel in mathematics, including subjects like Algebra, Calculus, and Differential Equations. My teaching approach centers on fostering a supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore concepts at their own pace. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and I strive to connect with each learner by tailoring my methods to their unique needs and learning styles. My passion for tutoring stems from witnessing my students' growth and confidence as they overcome challenges in math. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy being active and spending time with friends.
I love teaching. I have been a tutor in various subjects since my freshman year of high school when I tutored students in Pre-Calculus. Since then, I have always been a math tutor and have continued to tutor in other subjects as well, including Spanish and U.S. history as well as tests such as the SAT and ACT. I have also tutored students from ages 5-17.My teaching philosophy entails a lot of practice and self-discovery. From my own experiences with challenging subjects, I know that going the extra mile by doing more practice problems than are actually assigned or watching videos on certain concepts helps reinforcement and allows students to thrive in the classroom. As a tutor, I like to guide students in the correct direction and help them gain footing when learning a new subject; however, I also like to give students independence so they can determine their best method for learning.

Hi, my name is Sydney! I'm excited to help others succeed in economics. After majoring in Econ in college and taking multiple graduate-level courses, I've learned how to make complex concepts feel more tangible and real rather than abstract or inaccessible. I enjoy approaching topics from multiple perspectives to find what clicks, and I tailor my explanations to different learning styles.
