I strongly believe that students need to become effective independent learners to succeed at A-level and beyond, and I aim to help them develop the skills to do this. Although the majority of my experience involves teaching/examining/tutoring A-level biology, I think that students should begin to develop these skills earlier, particularly in light of recent changes to the GCSE.
Studying biology can also equip students with many transferable skills that they can use in subsequent study/work and so can be a valuable learning experience even for those who don't wish to progress down this career path.
