I have recently retired from the HiTech industry as an Engineering Executive with a Professional Engineering License practicing more than 35yrs. Additionally, my MS Mechanical Engineering Degree was focused on Structural Mechanics as a specialty. Since retirement from industry, I have been a substitute High School teacher for Math and Science along with being a Varsity Tutor. Both educational roles allow me to be a mentor by helping future STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) students grow educationally, and Engineers pass their FE & PE Exams in achieving Engineering Licensure. The FE & PE License Exam Curriculum that I have developed is highly successful with over a 90% passing rate for those students tutored.

I obtained my Master's of Science in Microelectronics Photonics from the University of Arkansas and my Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University. During my Master's studies, I worked as a chemistry teaching assistant and discovered my passion for STEM education. I continued to work with students after my teaching requirement ended by becoming a chemistry tutor and research mentor. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering, where I balance my desire to modernize water treatment systems with my love of inspiring students to pursue careers in STEM. My tutoring style emphasizes the learning process as much as the technical content to form a foundation for lifelong learning and problem solving. Together, we will logically break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable pieces. I specialize in introductory university-level Chemistry and Math courses, including AP Chemistry and Calculus. When I'm not tutoring, you will find me cooking a new recipe, hiking in the Ozark Mountains, or cheering loudly for my favorite basketball teams.

My ability to work with students, other teachers, administrators and parents to find out their weakest points, and the aspiration to work towards providing strengthening services has been commended many times. Moreover, my know-how to design and conduct workshops and develop interactive materials for students would enable me to produce excellent results. I am a graduate from Syracuse University with a Master's degree in Spanish Language, Literature and Culture. During my time at Syracuse University I gained some valuable teaching experience as an Instructor of Spanish 101, 102, 201, 202, 211, 212 for undergraduate students; teaching one grammar (4 credits) and one conversation (1 credit) course per semester independently, with the guidance of the Spanish Language coordinator. I enjoy teaching and am considered to have a caring approach; my tutoring style is very clear and as a foreign language learner myself, I understand better my students' difficulties and I care about my students' best interest. I rely upon many activities that involve a total physical response by the students: develop the five language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture) and which prepares students to communicate effectively in both written and spoken Spanish on a variety of topics related to themselves, their personal experiences, and everyday situations one might encounter in a Spanish speaking environment. In my spare time, I enjoy any kind of outdoors activities, specially hiking and backpackingand of course, traveling!

Ever since I was a young kid playing "school" with my siblings (or even just my stuffed animals!) I have had a passion for learning. I always enjoyed being a student and once I began tutoring in college, I knew teaching was exactly what I was meant to do. I love watching students learn new skills and grow mathematically. I have been a math teacher in grades 7-12 for the past 11 years; I've taught students with all different backgrounds and abilities. It's fun to see how different everyone thinks and I enjoy finding methods that "click" with students. I look forward to learning alongside you!
Hi! I'm a freshman at Syracuse University, majoring in History and Political Science (both with concentrations in America) and minoring in Psychology. I have plans to attend law school once I graduate to study civil rights litigation. Someday I even hope to run for political office!I'm quite the busy bee, and I love it! I thoroughly enjoy having a jam packed schedule, it helps me manage my time better. On campus I'm on the executive board for the Syracuse Animal Rights Organization. Activism was always something I dabbled in, but being apart of this club has really helped me grow as not only an activist, but as a person. I'm also a DJ at two radio stations on campus (you should DEFINITELY tune in) and I'm apart of the Advocacy Committee for Syracuse University's branch of UNICEF. Next semester I'll be doing all of that AND picking up a local political office internship as well as hopefully assisting with psychology research with one of my professors! I have such diverse interests that we're practically bound to have something in common! In my little free time I can be found binge watching The Office and Parks and Rec on Netflix and drinking as much coffee and tea as humanly possible.I have big aspirations and I'm constantly striving to make them a reality, but I also really love helping people. In fact, it's one of my favorite things to do. I try my best to do it as much a possible through volunteer work and tutoring. I used to tutor when I was in high school to fellow students in algebra, statistics, english, and history. When your student finally gets it, and they have that "eureka!" expression on their face, it truly makes it all worth while. As you can probably tell I'm a pretty friendly, quirky, and open person, and if I do say so myself I think we'd be a great fit as tutor and tutoree!

I teach because students afford me hope for the future of society. As an educator, I have taught and tutored in diverse environments for over three years. My teaching philosophy strives to help students accomplish their goals, but not just the immediate, easily quantifiable goals, like earning a certain grade on a paper. Rather, in accomplishing these immediate goals, I also aim to help students better themselves as people, to think about the world differently, so that, regardless of what they might face in their future, they will be in a position to succeed. At Syracuse University, I majored in philosophy and English and graduated summa cum laude. I was president of an organization that taught weekly spoken word poetry workshops, which improved students writing and public speaking abilities, and I also tutored ESL students at a high school. Pedagogically, I incorporate my experiences as a student into my teaching curriculum, ensuring my students know why they are doing a certain task rather than merely what they are doing. You are not only finding an experienced tutor who loves his work, but also one accomplished in his subjects. I am a fiction writer who has been published in national magazines. As a student, the dean of my college selected me to give the senior address at convocation. Moreover, I received a scholarship at Syracuse University awarded for my performance in the humanities. These achievements separate me from just any tutor you might find.
Hello. I am a Spanish professor with Austin Community College. I've taught Spanish at the middle school through college level for the last 15 years and I have plenty of tutoring experience.Having learned Spanish as a second language I understand a student's struggle learning the language. Students have told me I am patient and calm as a teacher. Since I have taught young people and older students I feel I have a good understanding of how to present a given concept to a specific student. I am well aware that some younger learners struggle with attention span. For this reason I use fun activities and age appropriate materials. In the past I have tutored businessmen and women who had specific goals for a trip to a Spanish speaking country. I feel comfortable teaching both adults and children. As far as materials I have plenty to offer. I designed my own language learning website that covers the grammar learned in Spanish I and II.I look forward to working with anyone who needs help with Spanish. I am punctual and professional while still keeping a relaxed attitude with my students. If you are looking for a teacher with those qualities I'd love to work with you.

I fully agree with the idea behind this quote: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid," and I live my life as a teacher accordingly-- knowing my main goal is to meet a student where they are, and to guide them in the best suited way for them.

I am passionate to help students of all types and situations, to be more successful in a challenging topic like chemistry to accomplish their aspirational goals. Too many students are not given a proper opportunity by not having an instructor who is interested in them and wants the best for them.I have a Bachelor's (BS) in Biochemistry, and a Masters' (M.S.) and Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Chemistry. I have been teaching and tutoring for almost 20 years as an undergraduate student, graduate student, and now a full-time chemistry instructor and have tutored and taught High School students, University-level students, Community College students, military, returning adult learners, you name it, I've probably have taught it.I most enjoy General, Organic, and Biochemistry topics. I teach in a "I do, We do, You do" philosophy where we work through a problem together and then you attempt it. Chemistry, as most math and science courses, is best learned by doing rather than watching and having a professor tell you instead of discussing it with you.
I strive to build a rapport with my students. Each student has their own style of learning. All students can succeed over time given the proper tools. With an early love of reading and writing, I have witnessed the power that words can have on people, especially if used in a positive manner. Hi there!I recently graduated from Syracuse University with a dual degree in English and communications. I adore the written word and spreading that love of it to young students. In college, I worked as both a Resident Advisor and a tutor to undergraduate and graduate students. Both opportunities gave me the chance to work with, mentor, and educate peers on curricular and co-curricular studies. Sharing my love of reading and writing is a great thrill of mine and I feel honored to get such an opportunity to do so.In terms of academia, my dual degree lent me the chance to hone my communications skills (I now work full time at a television production company focusing on documentary-style TV) as well as my skills in English. As a result, I became well-educated in both classic literature as well as contemporary literary theory focusing on a variety of topics such as gender, media, class and social structure, and an assortment of other theories and topics (all of which I'd love to chat about if given the opportunity). In my downtime, I love exploring and trying new things (mainly food) and I'm an avid animal lover. Here's some additional trivia about me:I was originally born in Texas (Air Force family)Trying new restaurants is one of my favorite activitiesFavorite movie: The Right Stuff (that Air Force family clearly had an impact on me...)Favorite book(s): Nothing compares to the Harry Potter series, in my humble opinionFavorite animal: My two golden retrievers, Logan and Skylar (though my cats make a decent bid for this vote)Favorite TV show: Mad Men (nope, my company doesn't make it - but I'm genuinely hooked on this series)I warmly encourage you to contact me! I look forward to meeting you.-Erin

I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students.
