I am an enthusiastic, outgoing student who values organization and detail. I received an IB diploma upon high school completion and BS in Biology from Colorado State University in 2011. I am currently enrolled in a paramedic certification program in the DC area. I volunteered as a tutor in college working with students from kindergarten to high school seniors. I am excited to help students understand confusing ideas and subjects. Knowledge is power and learning can be fun, so let's get to work.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Anyone can learn anything. It's about explaining unfamiliar concepts in familiar terms.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would establish a schedule and learning style, determine goals, and excite the student about the subject. Then, get to work.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By teaching students study habits, organization, and how to use the information provided to solve a problem, they become independent learners.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By setting achievable goals with positive reinforcement and helping students understand the material, not just pass, to boost self-confidence.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would take a different approach using alternate learning styles until comprehension is reached, then use consistent reinforcement until it becomes easy.
