I am a certified English and history teacher seeking students of all educational backgrounds who are looking for tutoring in either of the areas of my certification. I am qualified to tutor students 6th grade through college to strengthen their current skills in either English or history, research skills and test prep for either of these areas, or in composing essays either for coursework or for college applications. I received my Bachelors in English Education in 2011 from the University of Central Missouri, one of the top educational schools in the state. In 2012, I also became qualified to teach history. Currently I am working on my Masters in Library and Information Science, also from the University of Central Missouri. The emphasis of my program is in assisting students in conducting research in all subject areas and in teaching with technology. I also have a background in working with students in special education, specifically in learning disabilities and autism.

In addition to tutoring, I am currently working as a librarian for a school district in the St. Louis area. While my job is a lot more than working with books, I absolutely love working with my students (grades 6-12) in selecting books to read. I have been working with books in some capacity for 10 years and have an emphasis on the young adult genre and have been a volunteer reader-selector for the Missouri Gateway Award for the last three years. In my experience strong readers make strong writers, and vice versa. In working with students who want to strengthen their writing or reading skills I connect them with an appropriate book for their reading and interest levels. I believe that every person is a reader, it's all about finding the right book for that person.

As a tutor and educator, I view my role as a guide through interactive learning. I find that students learn the most through doing and I can help them find the ways to best take the knowledge they are learning and adapt it. Previous students have said that I am "challenging but fun" and that is what I strive to do with all of my students. Students should enjoy the learning process, but also be willing to work hard to achieve their educational goals.

In my spare time I enjoy reading and writing. Additionally, I do some online gaming in an MMORPG (a game similar to Worlds of Warcraft), and getting out and doing things outdoors (hiking and swimming) and doing things with my family.
