How can a tutor assist you in conquering Statistics?

Statistics teaches students how to collect and interpret data. While technically a branch of math, the field relies heavily on science concepts for the collection the data. For some students, statistics is a challenging subject to get through. With the help of a tutor who can tie together the math and science aspects of statistics for you, you may feel less loss during class. Varsity Tutors' educational directors can help you discover New Jersey statistics tutoring.

Depending on the level of your statistics course, you may be expected to collect your own data at some point. To do this properly, you'll need to understand how to conduct surveys properly. There are several basic rules for this, and creating an effective experiment on your own while keeping these concepts in mind can be difficult. A personal New Jersey statistics tutor can work with you through your projects and help you keep all of the important variables in mind. Each statistics tutoring session can center around your exact needs. Whether you are working on daily homework or a large-scale project, your tutor can guide you through it. Statistics Tutoring review by Katie in New Jersey
We worked with percentage word problems to begin our session. He is beginning to grasp this concept. From there we moved on to reading comprehension, which the student enjoys. Our next session will focus almost entirely on reading comprehension to make sure that he is ready for his test.

Statistics Tutoring review by Gwendolyn in New Jersey
The student thought it would be valuable to work on some geometry topics. Therefore, I went over an early chapter in his geometry book to gauge his level of understanding. We discussed the basics of proofs - equality and congruence of angles or lines. We then did about 25 practice problems. He quickly understood the properties of congruence and was able to remember them easily. Many of the problems were basic algebra equations where you have to solve for x. He struggled a little with these. Next session I'm going to break down the equations and explain when to add/subtract/multiply/divide a term to separate it from x. We'll work on this a little more, in addition to whatever school work he has.

This was my first meeting with the student and I feel like I was able to gauge his needs in Algebra 1. We went over functions today, specifically linear and exponential functions and how they can be applied in real world scenarios. I look forward to our future sessions.

Statistics Tutoring review by Sarah in New Jersey
Today we did a lot of practice adding and subtracting integers, because both students have a test coming up on this subject. Since Student A and I did a lot of practice with this last week, he felt really comfortable doing all of the problems. We also did a little multiplication practice, using a new method they learned in class. Both of them felt better about these types of math problems after our practice together.

Statistics Tutoring review by Jennifer in New Jersey
We spent the first 45 minutes reviewing how to simplify algebraic expressions. We also completed a worksheet together then went over an additional 10 practice problems. We created a "cheat sheet" listing the steps in order to consider when simplifying equations. The student did a great job but still has some trouble adding and subtracting negative numbers. We then spent 15 minutes practicing Spanish and reviewing when to use the preterite and the imperfect. We spent the last 15 minutes completing the student's geography homework.

Statistics Tutoring review by Manuel in New Jersey
Today we started going over another packet. This one involved maximum likelihood estimator, hypothesis testing and probability distributions. She keeps making progress on each topic but I'm a bit concerned over her forgetting material. I know she has papers and other stuff to write so once she has cleared that material, I will work with her on organization.
