Tutoring review by Caitlin in Groton, CT
The student had a worksheet on simplifying radical expressions and rationalizing the denominator that we worked through problems on. We went over in detail how to square root variables with exponents, and also re-covered conjugates and when to use them versus when to multiply a fraction by one term on the top and the bottom. It seems like the student's biggest issue this evening was deciding where to start on a given problem, but once she knew where to start she was able to work through them. We also worked on clarifying which numbers to bring out of square roots once you factored them.

The student and I went over areas of circles and sectors. We worked through most of her upcoming homework assignments and I clarified the problems she had. She was struggling with how to apply the concepts she learned to the problems, but after some practice she was figuring it out. We also went over properties of special right triangles which would be good for her to study and be familiar with.
