How can a Biology tutor help you?

The study of biology focuses on the commonalities amongst all living things, no matter how minuscule. This includes concepts like DNA, cells, respiratory systems, and evolution. There is a broad spectrum of concepts within the subject, so students need to stay on top of their studies in order to excel in the course. If you fall behind, it can be difficult to catch up, as there is a lot of material to cover in each lesson. A personal tutor can help you build your understanding of all of the information in your biology course that may be confusing you. The educational directors at Varsity Tutors can assist you in discovering New Jersey biology tutoring that can help you stay on top of your course.

Biology can progress from instructing on the anatomy of a common cell to discussing the theory of evolution. The information moves quickly, and in order to understand how all of the living systems in the world are interrelated, you need to understand all of the information presented to you. Wrapping your head around complex systems during a single class period can be a challenge. Biology may require you to work on your own time to study. If you're not a person who can learn by simply rereading a passage, then working with a New Jersey biology tutor may be an excellent solution. Your personal tutor can present information to you in a manner that works well for you. Every student has a preferred learning style, and a one-on-one tutor can cater their teaching method to match your learning needs. Whether this means providing tactile demonstrations or educational videos, your tutor can come prepared with the necessary materials.

Biology Tutoring review by Jeremy in New Jersey
The student and I got in another review session ahead of her exam tomorrow. We reviewed all the topics that we have covered in the past two weeks or so, including thermochemistry, reaction enthalpy, quantum, acid base chem, and rxn energy diagrams. She is doing very well and I had her demonstrate the strategies for many of the problem types that she will face on the exam. She will do well on this exam as long as she keeps confident and employs the mathematical manipulations and tricks we have been working on.

Biology Tutoring review by Bailey in New Jersey
Today, the student asked for us to review questions on his previous exams and quizzes. We specifically reviewed scientific notation, conversion problems, physical vs chemical changes and properties, significant figures, and discussed word problems. We discussed noteworthy scientists and their contributions to atomic theory. The student felt that significant figures were easy, but conversions and word problems were still rather difficult. He also mentioned that he felt his test went quite well and that he "knew everything" on the exam. He has not received his graded score back yet, but has high hopes for it. I will write out another worksheet for him to work on in the next couple of days that will include word problems as well as examples of physical vs. chemical changes and properties.

The student and I discussed the Lewis theory of bonding, some of the basics of covalent bonds, and the octet rule. We then covered how to write out the Lewis structure of molecules and how to determine where electrons are located within in a molecule. We then switched gears and discussed methods for balancing equations. With this information, we then turned to learning how to properly balance a reduction/oxidation equation. I discussed with the student how to determine which molecules are reduced and which are oxidized in a given equation. She is demonstrating remarkable progress over our two meetings.

Today we covered stoichiometry and limiting reactants. The student does really well once we've worked through a few problems together. She has a test next week, and we will be meeting before that time to review empirical and molecular formulas.
