The student and I finished reviewing for her exam today, covering all of her remaining questions. As long as she goes over her notes some more tonight, she should do well on her test tomorrow.

During our session the student worked on finishing his calculus assignments. We started with a worksheet he had assigned, which covered the topic of calculating integrating factors to help solve a linear first-order differential equation. We went over the six steps listed by the worksheet for using an integrating factor to solve a differential equation, and then started working through the problems step by step. He understood the process very well and correctly calculated the integrating factor for each problem, going on to use it in solving the differential equation. We finished by completing some problems from his other assignments, and he seems to understand the material we covered very well.

Tutoring review by Melissa in Keansburg, NJ
The student and I worked on algebra 2, graphing parabolas by finding the axis of symmetry, vertex, and zeros. Overall, she had a pretty good idea of how to do the problems but initially did not always know the best way to approach the problems. We went through her worksheet of problems, and by the end, she was able to graph the problems without help. At our next session, we were still working on graphing quadratic functions. This homework assignment was focused on using a graph to find solutions to the quadratic. It seemed as though she was able to work through the problems if they were straight-forward but did not quite understand the concept. We worked through some additional problems, and she improved her understanding.

The student is a great student. He is bright and a pleasure to work with. We worked on domain, range, and transformation for linear, quadratic, and exponential equations. We discussed the behavior of each function as it is transformed and what that means in terms of graphical representation and numeric outputs.

Tutoring review by Paul in Keansburg, NJ
The student and I reviewed his Unit 5 and Unit 6 quizzes, concentrating especially on questions where he didn't receive full credit. Emphasis was placed on recognizing congruences and working a problem based only on what is given in the question. He has an excellent attitude, very good skills of concentration, and a solid core competency. He really just needs to plow through a bunch of problem sets to solidify his knowledge and feel comfortable in the test environment. He was encouraged to keep in touch via email if he runs into sample problems he cannot solve.
