I believe learning is similar to climbing a mountain. All the routes to the top of the mountain require some effort, but there exist routes that are relatively smooth and short. In terms of learning, I believe methods of learning play an important role in studying. I have always been interested in learning and teaching. I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences to students. Hopefully, the journey of learning will be more smooth and full of enjoyment.

I am seeking my Bachelor's in Mathematics from Hunter College. I am a highly skilled and motivated individual who possesses a passion for teaching. I have vast experience tutoring children and adults between the ages of 6-25 from basic Algebra to Calculus II. I provide a calendar with specific test dates to help students become more organized. I create tests based on questions which the students struggle answering. I create detailed study guides for every section that I teach so that students have access to easy to understand explanations of material at any time. I work with parents, as well, to better understand my students' learning styles and tailor and establish the perfect tutoring relationships. Every single one of my students has succeeded and thrived academically and this is of the utmost importance to me, as my students are a direct reflection of me. There's a lot to cover for Step 1, STEP 2, but the key is not just memorization. I like to focus on recognizing patterns. The exam is about understanding the concepts that really matter and being able to apply them, rather than cramming endless facts. Think of it like detective work: each disease or mechanism leaves behind a unique set of "clues." The real trick to mastering Step 1 is learning to spot those unique features and using them to tell one condition apart from another. When you approach it this way, Step 1 becomes less about rote memory and more about problem-solving. And once you start seeing the patterns, it actually becomes funyou feel like you're solving medical mysteries one question at a time.

I am a New York State certified teacher for grades 7-12. I am a graduate of Hunter College in New York City, where I earned both my BA and MA Ed. I loved the opportunities Hunter gave me to pursue my love of Literature, Psychology and Teaching.I have traveled extensively in Europe over the years, and I am always on the lookout for new learning experiences that I can share with my students. I do not hesitate to share with them pictures and stories of the places I have visited which connect to literature because they can see that I am not only knowledgeable about the printed word, but that I have experienced some of what we are reading. I enjoy tutoring one on one because of the bonds I establish with my students. My goal is to have my students enjoy and succeed in the course we are working on. I was once a student learning a foreign language as well, which is English, so I know how frustrating it can be to "decipher" a sentence in a foreign language. Knowing that Chinese is much more difficult to learn than English is, I think a good strategy would be to compensate the struggles with fun activities.During my semester abroad in Taiwan where I taught local students English, I turned away from the old school memorization techniques and instead taught them through interactive activities such as in class karaoke and games.As friendly and passionate teacher as I could be, I was strict with my students and I plan to continue teaching with this character because it fosters my students' improvements.As a native speaker, I am fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and a lesser known dialect. I have recently returned from my study abroad program in Taiwan and travel in China. My visit not only enhanced my Chinese, but also introduced me to the the rapid transformation my home country is undergoing. It is truly a sight to see how traditional values remain as stronghold of the society amidst predominant development.Culture and language are essentially two interactive factors that foster one another. By understanding the culture behind a language, the students are provided a new spectrum at learning the language.With these perspectives that I hold, I hope to help my students succeed in their Chinese acquisition- to decipher the code that leads to appreciation of a foreign culture.

What I like most about tutoring is the opportunity to individualize the learning process for each student, as everyone learns differently. From 8th grade until my senior year I was homeschooled. I did not realize the advantage of my personalized curriculum until I went to college. Being homeschooled gave me the great gift of a genuine love of learning. I work as an English and ESL teacher at a small secondary school in the South Bronx, and I am the founder and director of IntegrateNYC4me. As a teacher, I work to support students in expanding their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, and I support teachers in creating curriculum that is accessible and engaging for students across cultures, abilities, skill levels, and interests. As the director of IntegrateNYC4me, I work to transform NYC public schools into a system of integrated, equal, accessible schools by organizing students and school communities to advocate for change. I also work on the organizing council of Teachers Unite, supporting school communities to build strong communities and create alternative systems of discipline that support the socio-emotional development of students. In my free time I love to run, experiment with creative cooking and juicing, and care for my super-hero dog named Luna.

Hi there! I'm Kwing! I have accumulated over 10 years working with youth. From classroom support, to running an after-school program, I've done a little bit of everything. I enjoy building relationships with the various students I have instructed and learning what fuels them. It's important to the work that we learn to connect with one another. I do things a little differently, and that's okay! Over time, I have learned that my brain functions in a way that's different than most. Some would label me, "neurodivergence." I'm an artist, writer, and tutor, currently living in Brooklyn and applying to PHD programs. I have a deep passion for French-the culture, the sounds, and even the grammar! I love to teach it and speak it. In addition, I've been studying art history for around nine years, in high school and in college. My current research combines 19th century French literature, history, and art history, and I couldn't be happier to be able to use my interests to teach!
